BACKGROUND The prevalence of Crohn’s disease(CD)and ulcerative colitis(UC)is on the rise *** rising prevalence is concerning as patients with CD and UC may frequently relapse leading to recurrent hospitalizations and increased healthcare *** To identify trends and adverse outcomes for 30 d readmissions for CD and *** This was a retrospective,interrupted trends study involving all adult(≥18 years)30 d readmissions of CD and UC from the National Readmission Database(NRD)between 2008 and ***<18 years,elective,and traumatic hospitalizations were excluded from this *** identified hospitalization characteristics and readmission rates for each calendar *** of inpatient mortality,mean length of hospital stay(LOS)and mean total hospital cost(THC)were calculated using a multivariate logistic trend analysis adjusting for age,gender,insurance status,comorbidity burden and hospital ***,trends between CD and UC readmissions were compared using regression of the interaction coefficient after adjusting for age and gender to determine relative trends between the two ***®Version 16 software(StataCorp,TX,United States)was used for statistical analysis and P value≤0.05 were considered statistically *** Total number of 30 d readmissions increased from 6202 in 2010 to 7672 in 2018 for CD and from 3272 in 2010 to 4234 in 2018 for *** noted increasing trends for 30-day all-cause readmission rate of CD from 14.9%in 2010 to 17.6%in 2018(P-trend<0.001),CD specific readmission rate from 7.1%in 2010 to 8.2%in 2018(P-trend<0.001),30-day all-cause readmission rate of UC from 14.1%in 2010 to 15.7%in 2018(P-trend=0.003),and UC specific readmission rate from 5.2%in 2010 to 5.6%in 2018(P-trend=0.029).There was no change in the risk adjusted trends of inpatient mortality and mean LOS for CD and UC ***,we found an increasing trend of mean THC for UC *** comparison,there w

The isothermal hot compression tests of Ti-15Al-12Nb alloy under wide range of strain rates(0.01-10.00 s^(-1)and deformation temperatures(950,1000,1050,and 1100℃)were carried out using Gleeble-3500 thermo-simulation machine.A constitutive equation represented as a function of temperature,strain rate and true strain was developed,and the hot deformation appar-ent activation energy is calculated to be about 453 kJ·mol^(-1).By employing dynamic material model(DMM),the processing maps of Ti-15Al-12Nb alloy at various strains were *** efficiency of about 57%for power dissipation is obtained at high temperature and low strain *** to the high power dissipation efficiency and excellent processing ability in dynamic recrystallization(DRX)zone for metal material,the optimum processing conditions are selected as the temperature range of 1050-1100℃and the strain rate range of 0.01-0.10 s^(-1).Using transmission electron microscopy(TEM)studies,it is found that the dislocation density is directly associated with the value of processing *** is observed that when the processing effi-ciency is about 22%,the dislocation density is reasonably *** flow instability region occurs at strain rate of 10.00 s^(-1)with cracks,which should be avoided during hot processing to obtain the required mechanical properties.

Arsenic has a suppressive influence on spermatogenesis and induces impairment in male reproductive system due to oxidative stress. The present study was aimed to test the arsenic induced toxicity and protection by Chlorophytum borivilianum. The effect of sodium arsenite （4 mg/（kg body weight （bw）.day）） via double distilled water without or with C. borivilianum （800 mg/（kg ***）） was evaluated in Swiss albino mice for 30 days. The radical scavenging activity of the aqueous C. borivilianum root extract was measured using DPPH （1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrayzyl） radical. Qualitative assessment of various cell types in the testis, sperm count and motility, testicular activity of lipid peroxidation （LPO）, reduced glutathione （GSH）, acid and alkaline phosphatase, cholesterol and serum testosterone were monitored. Arsenic treatment showed a significant increase in LPO, acid and alkaline phosphatase, cholesterol and decrease in sperm count, sperm motility, GSH and serum testosterone. Combined treatment showed significant decrease in LPO, acid and alkaline phosphatase, cholesterol and elevation in sperm count, sperm motility, GSH and serum testosterone. Testicular histopathology showed that C. borivilianum had reduced degeneration of germ cell in the seminiferous tubules and loss of sperms induced by arsenic intoxication. The results thus led us to conclude that administration of C. borivilianum root extract is found to be protective against arsenic induced toxicity.

Bulk arrival retrial G-queue with impatient customers and multi-servicessubject to server breakdowns has been analyzed. The system allows the arrival oftwo types of customers: positive customers and negative customers in the *** negative customers make the server fail if they find the server in busy state,whereas positive customers are served if the server is idle otherwise they join thevirtual pool of customers called orbit. The customers from the retrial orbit try theirchance again for the service. The customers have the option of obtaining more than oneservice. Moreover, the customers are impatient and may renege from the system withprobability (1−r ). The server is sent for repair as soon as it breakdowns;after repair,the service process starts again. Also, the server has the provision to initiate the servicewhen there areN customers accumulated in the system. Using supplementary variablestechnique and generating functions, various performance measures like reliabilityindices and long run probabilities have been obtained.

An optimal dispatch strategy for the economic operation of hybrid renewable energy system with storage is presented in this paper. Solar photovoltaic (PV), Wind and Battery Storage are the prime components of interest constituting the hybrid system. In addition to the economic aspect of the systems, the formulation focuses on renewable prioritized operation, system reliability and environmental sustainability enhancement. Being a multi-objective (MO) problem, a modified non-dominated sorting particle swarm optimization is used for solving the problem, considering operational cost, pollutant emission, and expected energy not served as operational objectives. The non-dominated sorting particle swarm optimization (NSPSO) is augmented with crowding distance technique, stochastic weight trade-off and chaotic mutation approaches, to control the exploration of global and particle bests, alleviating premature convergence, and enhancing solution search capability. A two-stage approach is used to derive the best solution. A modified IEEE 30-bus test system is used to demonstrate the results. By using the proposed approach, a lower and wider Pareto front is obtained, in comparison with prominent optimization approaches.

Advances in the field of micro electro mechanical systems and their uses now offer unique opportunities in the design of ultrasensitive analytical tools. The analytical community continues to search for cost-effective, reliable, and even portable analytical techniques that can give reliable and fast response results for a variety of chemicals and biomolecules. Microcantilevers （MCLs） have emerged as a unique platform for label-free chem-sensor or bioassay. Several electronic designs, including piezoresistive, piezoelectric, and capacitive approaches, have been applied to measure the bending or frequency change of the MCLs upon exposure to chemicals. This review summarizes mechanical, fabrication, and electronics approaches to increase the sensitivity of MCL sensors.

Influence of welding consumables on tensile and impact properties of multi-pass SMAW Armox 500T steel joints vis-a-vis base metal

In this investigation, comparative study of tensile and impact properties of multi-pass SMAW Armox500 T steel joints fabricated by austenitic stainless steel(ASS) and low hydrogen ferritic steel(LHF)consumables vis-a-vis base metal was carried out. The tensile tests were conducted on computer controlled Walter t Bai Ag UTM at a nominal strain rate of 10à3 sà1. Subsequently, charpy impact tests were carried out on an instrumented Zwick-Roell test setup to obtain load vs. displacement and maximum energy absorbed vs. displacement of the specimen. It was observed that, the joint efficiency of weldment processed by LHF consumable was 41.7% and weldment processed by ASS was 30.6% of its base metal indicating the influence of electrode consumable on tensile properties of the joints. On the contrary, impact toughness of weldment processed by ASS was 20% more and weldment processed by LHF was 12% less than that of base metal. Microstructural studies also revealed that, ASS can be considered as a candidate welding consumable for good strain hardening and toughness of the welding joint in impact applications. However, LHF steel consumable is recommended for welding joints that requires higher joint efficiency under tensile loading conditions.
