Multi-objective optimization of feature selection using hybrid cat swarm optimization

With the pervasive generation of information from a wide range of sensors and devices,there always exist a large number of input features in databases,thus complicating machine learning problem ***,certain features are relatively impertinent to specific problems,which may degrade the performances of classifiers in terms of prediction accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,and recall *** main goal of a multi-objective optimization problem is to identify the subsets of the given *** this end,a hybrid cat swarm optimization(HCSO)algorithm is proposed in our paper for performance improvement of the basic cat swarm optimization(CSO)that incorporates guided and competitive&inherent characteristics into the original *** performance of HCSO has been tested by finding the optimal feature subset for 15 benchmark *** number of class labels for these datasets varies between 2 and *** time complexity analysis of both CSO and HCSO has also been ***,the performance of the proposed algorithm has been compared with that of simple CSO and other state-ofthe-art *** performances obtained by HCSO have an average 2.68%improvement with a standard deviation of *** maximum performance improvement is up to 10.09%in prediction *** on the same datasets,CSO has yielded improvements within the range of-7.27%to 8.51%with an average improvement 0.9%and standard deviation *** statistical tests carried out in the experiments prove that HCSO manifests a moderately better feature selection capacity than that of its counterparts.

Human-wildlife conflict(HWC)is a conservation concern that increasingly threatens the continued existence of some of the world’s most endangered *** an increase in human population,urban sprawl and subsequent encroachment on wild land,human and wildlife interaction has become *** the majority of cases,this interaction results in a negative outcome for humans,wildlife or *** China,these key elements,along with a decrease in wild prey species,have resulted in the expansion of HWC encounters,and the need for alleviating this conflict has become a conservation *** of human life,livestock and/or crops is most often the catalysts that fuel *** to alleviate conflict around the world have included preventative measures and mitigation techniques,such as financial compensation and other incentive *** types of measures have had variable *** review the current status of human-carnivore conflict management in China,and,drawing lessons from around the globe,we make recommendations for improving conservation management in *** example,an increase in law enforcement in nature reserves is vital to reducing human disturbance in prime carnivore habitat,thereby reducing conflict ***,modifications to current wildlife compensation programs,so that they are linked with preventative measures,will ensure that moral hazards are ***,investigating the potential for a community self-financed insurance scheme to fund compensation and increasing efforts to restore wild prey populations will improve the outcome for wildlife ***,HWC management in China will greatly benefit from an integrative approach.

Climate change has been linked to well-documented changes in physiology, phenology, species distributions, and in some cases, extinction. Projections of future change point to dramatic shifts in the states of many ecosystems. Aceommodating these shifts to effectively conserve biodiversity in the context of uncertain climate regimes represents one of the most difficult challenges faced by conservation planners. A number of adaptation strategies have been proposed for managing species and ecosystems in a changing climate. However, there has been little guidance available on integrating climate change adaptation strategies into contemporary conservation planning frameworks. The paper reviews the different approaches being used to integrate climate change adaptation into conservation planning, broadly categorizing strategies as continuing and extending on ＂best practice＂ principles and those that integrate species vulnerability assessments into conservation planning. We describe the characteristics of a good adaptation strategy emphasizing the importance of incorporating clear principles of flexibility and efficiency, accounting for uncertainty, integrating human response to climate change and understanding trade-offs.

Autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP)is a rare form of chronic pancreatitis,with as yet undetermined incidence and prevalence in the general *** understanding of it continues to *** the last few years,2separate subtypes have been identified:type 1 AIP has been recognised as the pancreatic manifestation of a multiorgan disease,named immunoglobulin G4(IgG4)-related disease while type 2 AIP is a pancreas specific disorder not associated with *** criteria for the diagnosis of AIP have been defined:the HISORt criteria from the Mayo clinic,the Japan consensus criteria and,most recently,the international association of pancreatology"International Consensus Diagnostic Criteria".Despite this,in clinical practice it can still be very difficult to confirm the diagnosis and differenti-ate AIP from a pancreatic *** are no large studies into the long-term prognosis and management of relapses of AIP,and there is even less information at present regarding the Type 2 AIP *** studies are necessary to clarify the pathogenesis,treatment and long-term outcomes of this *** for clinicians,making the correct diagnosis and differentiating the disease from pancreatic cancer is of the utmost importance and the greatest challenge.

Numerical investigations on HCCI engine with increased induction induced swirl and engine speed

Homogeneous charge compression ignition(HCCI) mode of combustion is popularly known for achieving simultaneous reduction of NOx as well as soot emissions as it combines the compression ignition(CI) and spark ignition(SI) engine features. In this work, a CI engine was simulated to work in HCCI mode and was analyzed to study the effect of induction induced swirl under varying speeds using three-zone extended coherent flame combustion model(ECFM-3Z, compression ignition) of STAR-CD. The analysis was done considering speed ranging from 800 to 1600 r/min and swirl ratios from 1 to 4. The present study reveals that ECFM-3Z model has well predicted the performance and emissions of CI engine in HCCI mode. The simulation predicts reduced in-cylinder pressures, temperatures, wall heat transfer losses, and piston work with increase in swirl ratio irrespective of engine speed. Also, simultaneous reduction in CO2 and NOx emissions is realized with higher engine speeds and swirl ratios. Low speeds and swirl ratios are favorable for low CO2 emissions. It is observed that increase in engine speed causes a marginal reduction in in-cylinder pressures and temperatures. Also, higher turbulent energy and velocity magnitude levels are obtained with increase in swirl ratio, indicating efficient combustion necessitating no modifications in combustion chamber design. The investigations reveal a total decrease of 38.68% in CO2 emissions and 12.93% in NOx emissions when the engine speed increases from 800 to 1600 r/min at swirl ratio of 4. Also an increase of 14.16% in net work done is obtained with engine speed increasing from 800 to 1600 r/min at swirl ratio of 1. The simulation indicates that there is a tradeoff observed between the emissions and piston work. It is finally concluded that the HCCI combustion can be regarded as low temperature combustion as there is significant decrease in in-cylinder temperatures and pressures at higher speeds and higher swirl ratios.

Control of peak pressures of an HCCI engine under varying swirl and operating parameters

The major advantages of homogeneous charge compression ignition （HCCI） are high efficiency in combination with low NOx-emissions. However, one of the major challenges with HCCI is the control of higher peak pressures which may damage the engine, limiting the HCCI engine life period. In this paper, an attempt is made to analyze computationally the effect of induction swirl in controlling the peak pressures of an HCCI engine under various operating parameters. A single cylinder 1.6 L reentrant piston bowl diesel engine is chosen. For computational analysis, the ECFM-3Z model of STAR - CD is considered because it is suitable for analyzing the combustion processes in SI and CI engines. As an HCCI engine is a hybrid version of SI and CI engines, the ECFM- 3Z model with necessary modifications is used to analyze the peak pressures inside the combustion chamber. The ECFM-3Z model for HCCI mode of combustion is validated with the existing literature to make sure that the results obtained are accurate. Numerical experiments are performed to study the effect of varying properties like speed of the engine, piston bowl geometry, exhaust gas recirculation （EGR） and equivalence ratio under different swirl ratios in controlling the peak pressures inside the combustion chamber. The results show that the swirl ratio has a considerable impact on controlling the peak pressures of HCCI engine. A reduction in peak pressures are observed with a swirl ratio of 4 because of reduced in cylinder temperatures. The combined effect of four operating parameters, i.e., the speed of the engine, piston bowl geometry, EGR, and equivalence ratio with swirl ratios suggest that lower intake temperatures, reentrant piston bowl, higher engine speeds and higher swirl ratios are favorable in controlling the peak pressures.

Investigation of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of leaves of Dalbergia paniculata(Roxb)

Objective:To investigate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of orally administered methanolic leaf extract of Dalbergia paniculala(***) in Carrageenan induced inflammation in ***:In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated for superoxide radical, Hydroxyl radical and DPPH radical scavenging *** doses 200 mg/kg,400 mg/kg and 800 mg/kg of *** were tested for anti-inflammatory activity in Carrageenan induced rat paw edema model and paw thickness was measured every one hour up to 6 h. Results:The melhanolic leaf extract of *** produced dose dependent inhibition of Superoxide radical,Hydroxyl radical and OPPH *** Carrageenan induced inflammation model,all three doses produced significant percentage inhibition of rat paw edema and 800 mg/kg dose produced maximum percent inhibition of rat paw edema(47.83%) at 3h compared to control ***:In the present study we found that methanolic leaf extract of *** showed good in vitro antioxidant activity and in vivo anti-inflammatory activity in rats.

Investigation of hepatoprotective activity of Cyathea gigantea(***.)leaves against paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in rats

Objective:To investigate the hepatoprotective activity of methanolic leaf extract of Cyathea gigantea(***)against paracetamol induced liver damage in ***:The hepatoprotective activity for plant extract was investigated for paracetamol induced hepatoxicity in *** albino rats of either sex were divided into five groups of 6 animals each and are given orally the following treatment for seven *** normal control group was given 1%*** 1mL/kg bw,*** at dose of 1g/kg bw,*** given as toxic dose for inducing ***(50mg/kg.p.o.) was given as reference *** doses of C. gigantea extract i.e.,100 mg/*** 200 mg/kg,*** tested for hepatoprotective activity. The treatment was given for seven days and after 24 h of last treatment blood was collected from retro-orbital plexus and analysed for various serum parameters like serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase(SGOT),serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase(SGPT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),total bilirubin(TB)and total protein(TP)in different ***:The paracetamol intoxication lead to histological and biochemical *** treatment with methanolic leaf extract of *** reduced the elevated levels of SCOT,SGPT,ALP,TB and also reversed the hepatic damage towards normal which further supports the hepatoprotective activity of leaf extract of ***:The methanolic extract of leaves of *** at doses of 100 mg/kg bw and 200 mg/kg bw have significant effect on liver of paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity model in rats.

Enhancement of wear and ballistic resistance of armour grade AA7075 aluminium alloy using friction stir processing

Industrial applications of aluminium and its alloys are restricted because of their poor tribological properties. Thermal spraying, laser surfacing, electron beam welding are the most widely used techniques to alter the surface morphology of base metal. Preliminary studies reveal that the coating and layering of aluminium alloys with ceramic particles enhance the ballistic resistance. Furthermore, among aluminium alloys,7075 aluminium alloy exhibits high strength which can be compared to that of steels and has profound applications in the designing of lightweight fortification structures and integrated protection systems. Having limitations such as poor bond integrity, formation of detrimental phases and interfacial reaction between reinforcement and substrate using fusion route to deposit hard particles paves the way to adopt friction stir processing for fabricating surface composites using different sizes of boron carbide particles as reinforcement on armour grade 7075 aluminium alloy as matrix in the present investigation. Wear and ballistic tests were carried out to assess the performance of friction stir processed AA7075 alloy. Significant improvement in wear resistance of friction stir processed surface composites is attributed to the change in wear mechanism from abrasion to adhesion. It has also been observed that the surface metal matrix composites have shown better ballistic resistance compared to the substrate AA7075 alloy. Addition of solid lubricant Mo S2 has reduced the depth of penetration of the projectile to half that of base metal AA7075 alloy. For the first time, the friction stir processing technique was successfully used to improve the wear and ballistic resistances of armour grade high strength AA7075 alloy.

In this study,three new germacranolide sesquiterpenes(1–3),together with six related known analogues(4–9)were isolated from the whole plant of Carpesium *** structures were established by a combination of extensive NMR spectroscopic analysis,HR-ESIMS data,and ECD *** anti-leukemia activities of all compounds towards three cell lines(HEL,KG-1a,and K562)were evaluated in *** 1–3 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity with IC50 values ranging from 1.59 to 5.47μmol·L^(−1).Mechanistic studies indicated that 2 induced apoptosis by decreasing anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and activating the caspase family in K562 *** results suggest that compound 2 is a potential anti-leukemia agent.
