The paper presents results of reliability analysis made for lignite fired 370 MW rated power units installed in the Belchatow Power Plant (Poland). The concept of standardized power unit and the method of a histogram with a set number of observations in each class were applied in a study. The study includes analysis of probability distributions of operation times and repair times for the main power unit components. Empirical probability distribution functions have been identified and their parameters estimated in the study. The final forecast includes an estimation of such reliability measures like expected operation time, expected failure rate, average repair time and expected annual failure duration.

AIM： To screen for genes related to metabotropic re- ceptors that might be involved in the development of chronic hepatitis. METHODS： Assessment of 20 genes associated with metabotropic receptors was performed in liver speci- mens obtained by punch biopsy from 12 patients with autoimmune and chronic hepatitis type B and C. For this purpose, a microarray with low integrity grade and with oligonucleotide DNA probes complementary to target transcripts was used. Evaluation of gene expression was performed in relation to transcript level, correlation between samples and grouping of clinical parameters used in chronic hepatitis assessment. Clini- cal markers of chronic hepatitis included alanine and aspartate aminotransferase, ~,-glutamyltranspeptidase, alkaline phosphatase and cholinesterase activity, levels of iron ions, total cholesterol, triglycerides, albumin, glucose, hemoglobin, platelets, histological analysis of inflammatory and necrotic status, fibrosis according to METAVIR score, steatosis, as well as anthropometric body mass index, waist/hip index, percentage of adi- pose tissue and liver size in ultrasound examination. Gender, age, concomitant diseases and drugs were also taken into account. Validation of oligonucleotide microarray gene expression results was done with the use of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction （qRT-PCR）. RESULTS： The highest （0.002 〈 P 〈 0.046） expres- sion among genes encoding main components of metabotropic receptor pathways, such as the a subunit of G-coupled protein, phosphoinositol-dependent pro- tein kinase or arrestin was comparable to that of an- giotensinogen synthesized in the liver. Carcinogenesis suppressor genes, such as chemokine ligand 4, tran- scription factor early growth response protein 1 and lysophosphatidic acid receptor, were characterized by the lowest expression （0.002 〈 P 〈 0.046）, while the factor potentially triggering hepatic cancer, transcrip- tion factor JUN-B, had a 20-fold higher expression. Hereditary complement deficiencies are usually associated with increased susceptibility to infections and/ or autoimmune diseases. Generally, they are rare： the majority have been detected in no more than a few dozen individuals. However, due to lack of population-based studies, such cases are usually detected by chance, e.g., in severely ill persons and their family members. An exception is mannan-binding lectin （MBL） deficiency, affecting perhaps 5%-10% of the population. The objective of the study was to determine the usefulness of measuring maximum temperatures in designated regions of a healthy horse＇s body surface. Thermographic investigations （Thermovision〉550, FLIR） were carried out on 35 horses from 6 to 16 years old participating in show jumping competitions. The rectal temperatures of the horses were in the range 37.5-38.2 ℃. The research was performed in a stable, the ambient temperature （Tab） of which was 14℃ with a humidity （φ） of 60%. Thermograms of the left and right side of the horses were obtained. Each thermogram consisted of 36 body surface regions （before the competition） and 25 regions （immediately after the competition）. The maximum temperature ranges at rest were 21.8 ℃-31.0℃ and symmetrical regions did not differ statistically （P 〉 0.05）. The highest temperatures were on the head, neck and trunk, the lowest-on the limbs. The hind legs were warmer than the front legs in analogous areas, with the exception of the gaskin and forearm. The warmest body areas had the largest surface area, which is indicative of their crucial role in the thermoregulation of the equine organism. The research results may therefore be useful in veterinary diagnosis. The range of maximum temperatures after the competitions was 25.2℃-34.2℃. The highest increment was observed at the breast, elbow, forearm and gaskin, the lowest-at the head, pastern and hoof （foreand hind limbs）. Research regarding body surface temperature after exercise does not have diagnostic value for veterinarians because ＂warming-up＂ certain parts of body surface masks inflammation.

Deterioration in overall health,hormonal disturbances,and erectile dysfunction(ED)contributes to limitations in sexual activity in the elderly,which is further limited by incorrect beliefs about the hazards of sexual activity in cardiac *** aimed to analyze the occurrence of ED in elderly men,their perception of the relevance of good sexual function,and their expectations of physicians.A cross-sectional study encompassed 731 patients with coronary artery disease(CAD)subjected to cardiac *** data and data on modifiable risk factors and patient expectations were *** was assessed using the IIEF-5 *** among the risk factors for ED,occurrence of ED,and patient expectations,as well as the changes in the indicators between 2012 and 2016,were *** mean age of men was 70.7±5.1 *** prevalence of ED was 93.0%.The IIEF-5 score was significantly associated with age,tobacco smoking,exercise tolerance,time to diagnosis of CAD,and treatment with calcium channel blockers and *** declared that sexual activity was overall important(47.9%)or very important(25.6%).Three hundred and sixty(49.3%)patients expected their physician to show interest in their sexual health,but the topic was addressed in only 12.5%.Over the past few years,we have observed an increase in the awareness and importance of sexual health as well as a significant increase in patients’expectations of physicians to show interest in their sexual ***’expectations of discussing and receiving treatment for ED remain an unmet medical need.

The aim of the study was landscape evaluation of municipalities located in Ciezkowice-Roznow regional park in the southern part of Poland. The methodology includes field and indoor studies. Plant communities, natural 2,000 habitats, protected areas, and cultural elements have been identified. The study area has been divided into study units/plots. The next stage of research was the evaluation of landscape elements on every study unit. It distinguished areas with very high, high and moderate landscape values： Directions for shaping the landscape were formulated in the final part of the study.

Finite Element Method Computations of the Acoustics of the Human Head Based on the Projection Based Interpolation Data

In this paper we present the Projection Based Interpolation (PBI) technique for construction of continuous approximation of MRI scan data of the human head. We utilize the result of the PBI algorithm to perform three dimensional (3D) Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations of the acoustics of the human head. The computational problem is a multi-physics problem modeled as acoustics coupled with linear elasticity. The computational grid contains tetrahedral finite elements with the number of equations and polynomial orders of approximation varying locally on finite element edges, faces, and interiors. We utilize our own out-of-core parallel direct solver for the solution of this multi-physics problem. The solver minimizes the memory usage by dumping out all local systems from all nodes of the entire elimination tree during the elimination phase.

Reactions between the 1,3-bis(6-methylpyridin-2-yl) pyridine ligand L,C17H15N3 and LnIII(1a,1b,1c,1d) or a mixture of LnIII and CuII nitrates(2a,2b,2c,2d) resulted in a series of respectively novel mono-and heterodinuclea r complexes,where LnIII=Sm(a) ,Eu(b) ,Tb(c) ,Dy(d) . The compounds were char acterized by elemental analysis,ESI-MS and IR spectra,furthermore we obtained crystals of [H2L][Eu(NO3) 5](1b) and [CuL2][Eu(NO3) 5](2b) suitable for XRD char acterization. In the crystal structures the Eu ions are 10-coordinated with quit e a narrow range of Eu-O distances which are between 0.2436 and 0.2556 nm. In 1b the ligand molecule is protonated in both terminal rings,and the N-H groups ar e involved in the N-H…O hydrogen bonds with the same oxygen atom of one of the nitro groups. These hydrogen bonds connect the ions in 1b into the complex which is the principal building block of the structure. In 2b the [CuL2]2+ counterion s are present;the Cu is octahedrally coordinated by all nitrogen iatoms of two L molecules which are therefore almost perpendicular to each other. The electros tatic interactions between the charged species are in both cases the main drivin g force of the crystal packing.
