Memristive crossbar arrays(MCAs)offer parallel data storage and processing for energy-efficient neuromorphic ***,most wafer-scale MCAs that are compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)technology still suffer from substantially larger energy consumption than biological synapses,due to the slow kinetics of forming conductive paths inside the memristive *** we report wafer-scale Ag_(2)S-based MCAs realized using CMOS-compatible processes at temperatures below 160℃.Ag_(2)S electrolytes supply highly mobile Ag+ions,and provide the Ag/Ag_(2)S interface with low silver nucleation barrier to form silver filaments at low energy *** further enhancing Ag+migration in Ag_(2)S electrolytes via microstructure modulation,the integrated memristors exhibit a record low threshold of approximately−0.1 V,and demonstrate ultra-low switching-energies reaching femtojoule values as observed in biological *** low-temperature process also enables MCA integration on polyimide substrates for applications in flexible ***,the intrinsic nonidealities of the memristive units for deep learning can be compensated by employing an advanced training *** impressive accuracy of 92.6%in image recognition simulations is demonstrated with the MCAs after the *** demonstrated MCAs provide a promising device option for neuromorphic computing with ultra-high energy-efficiency.

As the population ages,the burden of age-related diseases becomes ***,over 55 million people suffer from dementia worldwide,with Alzheimer’s disease being the most common ***,it is becoming clearer that underlying vascular pathology such as cerebral small vessel disease(cSVD)may be a more detrimental cause for dementia(Cuadrado-godia et al.,2018).It is estimated that 10%-30%of the elderly population and 35%-90%of all dementia patients exhibit signs of *** term cSVD refers to pathology affecting the small vessels of the brain,which can lead to lacunar cerebral infarcts,enlarged perivascular spaces,and cortical hemorrhages(Cuadrado-godia et al.,2018).CSVD is often associated with cognitive decline,gait problems,and dementia(Cuadrado-godia et al.,2018).

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

Hippocampal neuronal loss causes cognitive dysfunction in Alzheimer’s *** hippocampal neurogenesis is reduced in patients with Alzheimer’s *** stimulates adult hippocampal neurogenesis in rodents and improves memory and slows cognitive decline in patients with Alzheimer’s ***,the molecular pathways for exercise-induced adult hippocampal neurogenesis and improved cognition in Alzheimer’s disease are poorly ***,regulator of g protein signaling 6(RgS6)was identified as the mediator of voluntary running-induced adult hippocampal neurogenesis in ***,we generated novel RgS6fl/fl;APP_(SWE) mice and used retroviral approaches to examine the impact of RgS6 deletion from dentate gyrus neuronal progenitor cells on voluntary running-induced adult hippocampal neurogenesis and cognition in an amyloid-based Alzheimer’s disease mouse *** found that voluntary running in APP_(SWE) mice restored their hippocampal cognitive impairments to that of control *** cognitive rescue was abolished by RgS6 deletion in dentate gyrus neuronal progenitor cells,which also abolished running-mediated increases in adult hippocampal *** hippocampal neurogenesis was reduced in sedentary APP_(SWE) mice versus control mice,with basal adult hippocampal neurogenesis reduced by RgS6 deletion in dentate gyrus neural precursor ***6 was expressed in neurons within the dentate gyrus of patients with Alzheimer’s disease with significant loss of these RgS6-expressing ***,RgS6 mediated voluntary running-induced rescue of impaired cognition and adult hippocampal neurogenesis in APP_(SWE) mice,identifying RgS6 in dentate gyrus neural precursor cells as a possible therapeutic target in Alzheimer’s disease.

1-(2-chlorophenyl) ethanol (CPE) is of health and environmental concern due to its toxicity and its use as an inter-mediate in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The current work deals with the catalytic reductive dechlorination and detoxification of CPE by Pd/Fe bimetal. CPE was effectively dechlorinated to 1-phenyl ethanol (PE) accompanied by the equivalent release of chloride. The extent of CPE dechlorination increased with temperature,Fe dosage and Pd loading. A decrease in solution pH increased CPE dechlorination,resulting presumably from an increase in hydrogen production. Under the specific conditions of 20 g/L Pd/Fe,0.10% Pd (w/w) and initial pH 5-6,the CPE dechlorination was completed within 145 min. The dechlorination fol-lowed a pseudo-first-order kinetics with an activation energy of 56.7 kJ/mol. The results of toxicity testing showed that CPE was very toxic to Chlorella,whereas PE showed little toxicity. The toxicity of the reaction solution declined gradually and the pro-moting effects on Chlorella intensified consequently with the dechlorination process. Thus,the reductive dechlorination of CPE to PE by Pd/Fe was a detoxification process. It may be used to effectively reduce the toxicological effects of CPE-contaminated wastewater,thereby enhancing the performance of subsequent biological processes in wastewater treatment.

AIM: To investigate whether increased plasma L-homocysteine (Hcy) level could promote monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) in cultured whole blood. METHODS: Human whole blood or different type of peripheral blood cells from health volunteers were incubated with Hcy and/or the inhibitors. MCP-1 and IL-8 level were measured by ELISA assay. RESULTS: Hcy 10-1000μmol/L induced production of MCP-1 and IL-8 in cultured human whole blood (Pgulation of MPO level even at the 10 μmol/L in the cultured whole blood. The intracellular ROS, particular the OH’ radicals, play extremely important role in the Hcy-induced MCP-1 and IL-8 production. CONCLUSION: Increased Hcy level in plasma (hyperhomocysteinemia) induced MCP-1 and IL-8 secretion in cultured human whole blood, especially in monocytes via oxidative stress mechanism.

Calculating thermodynamic potentials and observables efficiently and accurately is key for the application of statistical mechanics simulations to materials ***,naive Monte Carlo approaches,on which such calculations are often dependent,struggle to scale to complex materials in many state-of-the-art disciplines such as the design of high entropy alloys or multi-component *** address this issue,we adapt sampling tools built upon machine learning-based generative modeling to the materials space by transforming them into the semi-grand canonical ***,we show that the resulting models are transferable across wide ranges of thermodynamic conditions and can be implemented with any internal energy model U,allowing integration into many existing materials *** demonstrate the applicability of this approach to the simulation of benchmark systems (AgPd,CuAu) that exhibit diverse thermodynamic behavior in their phase ***,we discuss remaining challenges in model development and promising research directions for future improvements.

Background:Hard-to-heal wounds are often compromised by the presence of *** presents an infection risk,yet traditional antimicrobial wound care products and systemic antibiotics are often used despite the uncertainty of therapeutic success and wound *** aim of this study was to investigate the clinical impact of a next-generation anti-biofilm Hydrofiber wound dressing(AQUACEL Ag+Extra[AQAg+E])in hard-to-heal wounds that had previously been treated unsuccessfully with traditional silver-,iodine-or polyhexamethylene biguanide(PHMB)-containing dressings and products and/or systemic ***:Clinical case study evaluations of the anti-biofilm dressing were conducted,where deteriorating or stagnant wounds were selected by clinicians and primary dressings were replaced by the anti-biofilm dressing for up to 4 weeks,or as deemed clinically appropriate,with monitoring via case report *** data was stratified for cases where traditional silver-,iodine-or PHMBcontaining products,or systemic antibiotics,had been used prior to the introduction of the antibiofilm ***:Sixty-five cases were identified for inclusion,wounds ranging in duration from 1 week to 20 years(median:12 months).In 47(72%)cases the wounds were stagnant,while 15(23%)were deteriorating;3 wounds were not *** an average of 4.2 weeks of management with the anti-biofilm dressing(range:1–11 weeks),in 11(17%)cases the wounds had healed(*** wound closure),40(62%)wounds improved,9(14%)wounds remained the same and 5(8%)wounds ***:The introduction of this anti-biofilm dressing into protocols of care that had previously involved wound management with traditional antimicrobial products and/or antibiotics was shown to facilitate improvements in the healing status of most of these hard-to-heal *** containing proven anti-biofilm technology,in combination with antimicrobial silver and exudate management technology,appear to b
