We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of WS_(2),Te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and TiS_(3)and TiS_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum Seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for WS_(2)and TiS_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common causes of cancerrelated *** particular type of cancer has the distinctive characteristic of mostly happening in individuals with an underlying liver *** makes the management of patients more challenging,since physicians must take into consideration two different conditions,the chronic liver disease and the *** underlying liver disease has several implications in clinical practice,because different kinds of chronic liver disease can lead to varying degrees of risk of developing HCC,obstacles in surveillance,and differences in the efficacy of the treatment against HCC.A shift in the prevalence of liver diseases has been evident over the last few years,with viral hepatitis gradually losing the leading position as cause of HCC and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease gaining ***,in an era of personalized medicine,it is imperative that physicians are aware of the underlying liver disease of individuals with HCC and its impact in the management of their tumors.

Association between lifestyle factors and thyroid function in young euthyroid adults

Purpose:The present work examines the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism,physical activity(pa)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determined in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were measured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** time spent in sedentary,pa levels and sleep habits were objectively measured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the Mediterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine(FT4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall pa were negatively associated with FT4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep parameters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and pa levels seems to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

A new perspective on intervertebral disc calcification—from bench to bedside

Disc degeneration primarily contributes to chronic low back and neck ***,there is an urgent need to understand the spectrum of disc degeneration phenotypes such as fibrosis,ectopic calcification,herniation,or mixed *** these phenotypes,disc calcification is the least *** calcification,by definition,is the pathological mineralization of soft tissues,widely studied in the context of conditions that afflict vasculature,skin,and ***,disc calcification is associated with poor surgical outcomes and back pain refractory to conservative *** is frequently seen as a consequence of disc aging and progressive degeneration but exhibits unique molecular and morphological characteristics:hypertrophic chondrocyte-like cell differentiation;TNAP,ENPP1,and ANK upregulation;cell death;altered Pi and PPi homeostasis;and local *** studies in mouse models have provided a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying this *** is essential to recognize that the presentation and nature of mineralization differ between AF,NP,and EP ***,the combination of anatomic location,genetics,and environmental stressors,such as aging or trauma,govern the predisposition to ***,the systemic regulation of calcium and Pi metabolism is less important than the local activity of PPi modulated by the ANK-ENPP1 axis,along with disc cell death and differentiation *** there is limited understanding of this phenotype,understanding the molecular pathways governing local intervertebral disc calcification may lead to developing disease-modifying drugs and better clinical management of degeneration-related pathologies.

Pulse Waveform Analysis as A Bridge between Pulse Examination in Chinese Medicine and Cardiology

Pulse examination was probably the earliest attempt to distinguish between health and illnesses. starting at the pre-Hippocratic era, Chinese medicine practitioners developed techniques for pulse examination and defined pulse images based on their perceptions of pulse waveforms at the radial artery. Pulse images were described using basic variables （frequency, rhythm, wideness, length, deepness, and qualities） developed under philosophical trends such as Taoism and Confucianism. Recent advances in biomedical instrumentation applied to cardiology opened possibilities to research on pulse examination based on ancient Chinese medical theories： the pulse wave analysis. Although strongly influenced by philosophy, some characteristics used to describe a pulse image are interpretable as parameters obtained by pulse waveform analysis such as pulse wave velocity and augmentation index. Those clinical parameters reflect concepts unique to Chinese medicine - such as yin- yang - while are based on wave reflection and resonance theories of fluids mechanics. major limitations for integration of Chinese and Western pulse examination are related to quantitative description of pulse images and pattern differentiation based on pulse examination. Recent evidence suggests that wave reflection and resonance phenomena may bridge Chinese medicine and cardiologyto provide a more evidence-based medical practice.

Background:Adenosine triphosphatase inhibitory factor 1(IF1)is a key protein involved in energy ***1 has been linked to various agerelated diseases,although its relationship with physical activity(pa)remains ***,the apolipoprotein A-I(apoA-I),a pa-modulated lipoprotein,could play a role in this relationship because it shares a binding site with IF1 on the cell-surface ATP *** examined here the associations between chronic pa and plasma IF1 concentrations among older adults,and we investigated whether apoA-I mediated these ***:In the present work,1096 healthy adults(63.8%females)aged 70 years and over who were involved in the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial study were ***1 plasma concentrations(square root of ng/mL)were measured at the 1-year visit of the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial,while pa levels(square root of metabolic equivalent task min/week)were assessed using questionnaires administered each year from baseline to the 3-year *** linear regressions were performed to investigate the associations between the first-year mean pa levels and IF1 *** analyses were conducted to examine whether apoA-I mediated these *** linear regressions were carried out to investigate whether the 1-year visit IF1 concentrations predicted subsequent changes in ***:Multiple linear regressions indicated that first-year mean pa levels were positively associated with IF1 concentrations(B=0.021;SE=0.010;p=0.043).Mediation analyses revealed that about 37.7%of this relationship was mediated by apoA-I(B_(ab)=0.008;SE=0.004;p=0.023).Longitudinal investigations demonstrated that higher concentrations of IF1 at the 1-year visit predicted a faster decline in pa levels over the subsequent 2 years(time×IF1:B=0.148;SE=0.066;p=0.025).Conclusion:This study demonstrates that regular pa is associated with plasma IF1 concentrations,and it suggests that apoA-I partly med

目的旨在通过系统综述,确定针对复杂慢性病患者增强自我管理的干预措施,以改善慢性呼吸困难,为护理人员促进该类人群的自我管理提供依据。方法2023年12月,系统检索Medline、Scopus、Web of Science、CINAHL、Cochrane图书馆和乔安娜布里格斯研究所(Joanna Briggs Institute,JBI)循证实践数据库。对纳入研究进行数据提取和综合,研究人员采用Rayyan文献管理软件筛选标题及摘要,并依据JBI研究质量评估工具进行方法学质量评估。结果共纳入18项研究。这些研究探讨了针对慢性呼吸困难的各种干预措施,包括药物干预(氧气疗法和吸入疗法)和非药物方法(教育计划、呼吸练习、液体摄入管理、身体感知技术、同伴支持、情商培训和网络应用程序的使用)。这些干预措施减轻了患者情绪困扰,可以使患者在自我管理方面变得独立自主。结论促进复杂慢性病患者对慢性呼吸困难的自我管理需要采取综合方法,但目前研究中没有充分考虑到针对患者行为改变的干预措施,需要进一步开展相关研究完善干预措施。

objective Recombinase-aided polymerase chain reaction(RAP)is a sensitive,single-tube,two-stage nucleic acid amplification *** study aimed to develop an assay that can be used for the early diagnosis of three types of bacteremia caused by staphylococcus aureus(sa),Pseudomonas aeruginosa(pa),and Acinetobacter baumannii(AB)in the bloodstream based on recombinant human mannanbinding lectin protein(M1 protein)-conjugated magnetic bead(M1 bead)enrichment of pathogens combined with *** Recombinant plasmids were used to evaluate the assay *** blood influenza bacteria were used for the specific *** and clinical plasma samples were enriched with M1 beads and then subjected to multiple recombinase-aided PCR(M-RAP)and quantitative PCR(qPCR)*** analysis was used to evaluate the consistency between the two *** The M-RAP method had sensitivity rates of 1,10,and 1 copies/μL for the detection of sa,pa,and AB plasmids,respectively,without cross-reaction to other bacterial *** M-RAP assay obtained results forpathogens in the blood within 4 h,with higher sensitivity than qPCR.M-RAP and qPCR for sa,pa,and AB yielded Kappa values of 0.839,0.815,and 0.856,respectively(Ponclusion An M-RAP assay for sa,pa,and AB in blood samples utilizing M1 bead enrichment has been developed and can be potentially used for the early detection of bacteremia.

目的探讨基底外侧杏仁核(BLA)谷氨酸能神经元在异氟醚麻醉中的调控作用。方法采用健康雄性8~12周龄Vglut2-Cre转基因小鼠。15只小鼠随机分为光遗传激活组(ChR2组)、抑制组(GtACR组)和对照组(mCherry组),每组5只,分别在BLA核团立体定位注射兴奋性光遗传病毒rAAV2/9-EF1α-DIo-hChR2-mCherry-WPRE-hGH pa、抑制性光遗传病毒rAAV2/9-EF1α-DIo-GtACR-mCherry-WPRE-hGH pa或对照病毒rAAV2/9-EF1α-mCherry-WPRE-hGH pa,并埋置陶瓷插芯。待病毒表达3周后,对待试小鼠进行14 mL/L异氟醚麻醉,并全程记录小鼠皮层脑电(EEG),爆发抑制比(BSR)稳定时光遗传调控BLA谷氨酸神经元,比较光刺激前2 min与刺激2 min时的BSR。21只Vglut2-Gre小鼠随机分为化学遗传激活组(hM3Dq组)、抑制组(hM4Di组)和对照组(mCherry组),每组7只,分别在双侧BLA核团注射化学遗传病毒,3周后进行化学遗传调控实验,比较稳定深度麻醉状态中同一时间点各组EEG频谱及各频段百分比总功率以及翻正反射消失及恢复(LoRR/RoRR)时间。结果与光刺激前相比,光刺激期间ChR2组BSR降低(P0.05)。化学遗传实验中,与mCherry组相比,深度麻醉状态下,hM4Di组皮层EEG的α、β、γ频段百分比总功率明显增加(P0.05);hM3Dq组和hM4Di组LoRR的时间无统计学差异(P>0.05),而hM3Dq组RoRR的时间缩短,hM4Di组RoRR的时间延长(P<0.01)。结论BLA谷氨酸神经元参与调控小鼠异氟醚麻醉的觉醒过程,激活BLA谷氨酸神经元,可以显著促进小鼠从异氟醚麻醉状态中觉醒。

The family of bile acids includes a group of molecular species of acidic steroids with very peculiar physical-chemical and biological *** are synthesized by the liver from cholesterol through several complementary pathways that are controlled by mechanisms involving finetuning by the levels of certain bile acid *** their best-known role is their participation in the digestion and absorption of fat,they also play an important role in several other physiological ***,genetic abnormalities accounting for alterations in their synthesis,biotransformation and/or transport may result in severe alterations,even leading to lethal situations for which the sole therapeutic option may be liver ***,the increased levels of bile acids reached during cholestatic liver diseases are known to induce oxidative stress and apoptosis,resulting in damage to the liver parenchyma and,eventually,extrahepatic *** this occurs during pregnancy,the outcome of gestation may be *** contrast,the physical-chemical and biological properties of these compounds have been used as the bases for the development of drugs and as pharmaceutical tools for the delivery of active agents.
