Following a spinal cord injury,there are usually a number of neural pathways that remain intact in the spinal *** residual nerve fibers are important,as they could be used to reconstruct the neural circuits that enable motor *** group previously designed a novel magnetic stimulation protocol,targeting the motor cortex and the spinal nerve roots,that led to significant improvements in locomotor function in patients with a chronic incomplete spinal cord ***,we investigated how nerve root magnetic stimulation contributes to improved locomotor function using a rat model of spinal cord *** underwent surgery to clamp the spinal cord at T10;three days later,the rats were treated with repetitive magnetic stimulation(5 Hz,25 pulses/train,20 pulse trains)targeting the nerve roots at the L5-L6 *** treatment was repeated five times a week over a period of three *** found that the nerve root magnetic stimulation improved the locomotor function and enhanced nerve conduction in the injured spinal *** addition,the nerve root magnetic stimulation promoted the recovery of synaptic ultrastructure in the sensorimotor ***,the results suggest that nerve root magnetic stimulation may be an effective,noninvasive method for mobilizing the residual spinal cord pathways to promote the recovery of locomotor function.

We investigate the dependence of the switching process on the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy （PMA） constant in perpendicular spin transfer torque magnetic tunnel junctions （P-MTJs） using micromagnetic simulations. It is found that the final stable states of the magnetization distribution of the free layer after switching can be divided into three different states based on different PMA constants： vortex, uniform, and steady. Different magnetic states can be attributed to a trade-off among demagnetization, exchange, and PMA energies. The generation of the vortex state is also related to the non-uniform stray field from the polarizer, and the final stable magnetization is sensitive to the PMA constant. The vortex and uniform states have different switching processes, and the switching time of the vortex state is longer than that of the uniform state due to hindrance by the vortex.

In deep space exploration,many engineering and scientific requirements require the accuracy of the measured Doppler frequency to be as high as *** our paper,we analyze the possible frequency measurement points of the third-order phase-locked loop(PLL)and find a new Doppler measurement *** on this finding,a Doppler frequency measurement algorithm with significantly higher measurement accuracy is *** the actual data processing,compared with the existing engineering software,the accuracy of frequency of 1 second integration is about 5.5 times higher when using the new *** improved algorithm is simple and easy to *** improvement can be easily combined with other improvement methods of PLL,so that the performance of PLL can be further improved.

In this article, we put forward a new approach to estimate multiple conditional regression quantiles simultaneously. Unlike the double summation method in most of the literatures, our proposed model allows continuous variety for the quantile level over(0,1). As a result, all the quantile curves can be obtained via a 2-dimensional surface simultaneously. Most importantly, the proposed minimizing criterion can be readily transformed to a linear programming problem. We use tensor product bi-linear quantile smoothing B-splines tofit it. The asymptotic property of the estimator is derived and a real data set is analyzed to demonstrate the proposed method.

Temperate northern hemisphere dominates the global soil CH_(4) sink

Methane(CH_(4)) is the second largest longlived greenhouse gas after the CO_(2), which contributes 20% of global warming forcing. Global aerated soils remove CH_(4) from the troposphere, but the quantification of its magnitude and spatial variability is still of a large uncertainty. This study collected 1240records of the CH_(4) uptake by soils across the *** estimates update the global soil CH_(4) sink to 31.9+/-0.16 Tg CH_(4) a^(-1), 42% higher than the previous inventory-based estimation, with 56% from temperate regions. Also, our dataset revealed that the global drylands dominated the soil CH_(4) sink, which is different from traditional forest-dominated *** the past four decades, the soil porosity affected by soil moisture controls the variation in the uptake in the tropics, while warming temperatures benefit methanotrophs in temperate and boreal soils,especially the drylands, where the soil porosity is not limiting. Our simulations indicate that the CH_(4) uptake will increase by 11%–31% by the end of the 21st century, much lower than the previous *** study substantially constrains the global soil CH_(4) sink estimates and reveals the warming temperate northern hemisphere is a dominant CH_(4) uptake region in the past and future, while the uptake decreases in tropical soils under increasing precipitation.

The influences of Ca and Y additions on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of vacuum die-cast AZ91 alloys were investigated by optical microscope,electron scanning microscope,weight-loss test,and electrochemical corrosion *** results indicate that the Ca or Ca and Y additions refined the microstructure and decreased the amount of Mg17Al12 phase on grain boundaries in the ***,the addition of Ca and Y led to the formation of network Al2 Ca phase and rod-like Al2 Y phase,improved the corrosion resistance of AZ91 magnesium *** with AZ91 alloy,the corrosion rate of AZ91–1.5Ca–1.0Y alloy was decreased to 16.2%,and its corrosion current density was dropped by one order of magnitude after immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution for 24 h.
