Risk of gestational diabetes recurrence and the development of type 2 diabetes among women with a history of gestational diabetes and risk factors: a study among 18 clinical centers in China

Background:Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)brings health issues for both mothers and offspring,and GDM prevention is as important as GDM management.It was shown that a history of GDM was significantly associated with a higher maternal risk for GDM recurrence.The incidence of GDM recurrence was unclear because of the incidence of second-child was low before 2016 in China.We aim to investigate the prevalence of GDM recurrence and its associated high-risk factors which may be useful for the prediction of GDM recurrence in China.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted which enrolled participants who underwent regular prenatal examination and delivered twice in the same hospital of 18 research centers.All participants were enrolled from January 2018 to October 2018,where they delivered the second baby during this period.A total of 6204 women were enrolled in this study,and 1002 women with a history of GDM were analyzed further.All participants enrolled in the study had an oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)result at 24 to 28 weeks and were diagnosed as GDM in the first pregnancy according to the OGTT value(when any one of the following values is met or exceeded to the 75-g OGTT:0 h[fasting],≥5.10 mmol/L;1 h,≥10.00 mmol/L;and 2 h,≥8.50 mmol/L).The prevalence of GDM recurrence and development of type 2 diabetes mellitus were calculated,and its related risk factors were analyzed.Results:In 6204 participants,there are 1002 women(1002/6204,16.15%)with a history of GDM and 5202 women(5202/6204,83.85%)without a history of GDM.There are significant differences in age(32.43±4.03 years vs.33.00±3.34 years vs.32.19±3.37 years,P<0.001),pregnancy interval(4.06±1.44 years vs.3.52±1.43 years vs.3.38±1.35 years,P=0.004),prepregnancy body mass index(BMI)(27.40±4.62 kg/m^(2)vs.23.50±3.52 kg/m^(2)vs.22.55±3.47 kg/m^(2),P<0.001),history of delivered macrosomia(22.7%vs.11.0%vs.6.2%,P<0.001)among the development of diabetes mellitus(DM),recurrence of GDM,and normal women.Moreover,it seems so important in the degree of abnormal glucose

DJ-1 Alters Epirubicin-induced Apoptosis via Modulating Epirubicin-activated Autophagy in Human Gastric Cancer Cells

Epirubicin,which is a conventional chemotherapeutic drug for gastric cancer,has innate and adaptive chemoresistance.Recent studies revealed that epirubicin could induce autophagy as a defensive mechanism in drug resistance of mammary carcinoma.Another study implied that D J-1 may be a chemoresistance-related gene.But the association between D J-1 and drug resistance of epirubicin in gastric cancer is still ambiguous.In the present report,we explored whether and how D J-1 conduced to epirubicin-induced apoptosis in gastric cancer.Epirubicin dose-dependently increased the expression of DJ-1 and induced autophagy.Knockdown of DJ-1 notably enhanced epirubicin-induced cell apoptosis,whereas overexpression of DJ-1 attenuated epirubicin-induced cell apoptosis.Further studies revealed that down-regulation of DJ-1 modulated epirubicin-activated autophagy which augmented epirubicin-induced apoptosis.In conclusion,our results validated that DJ-1 reduced epirubicin-induced apoptosis in gastric cancer cells via modulating epirubicin-activated autophagy.

Mathematical model of wave transformation over radial sand ridge field on continental shelf of South Yellow Sea

According to a deformed mild-slope equation derived by Guang-wen Hong and an enhanced numerical method, a wave refraction-diffraction nonlinear mathematical model that takes tidal level change and the high-order bathymetry factor into account has been developed. The deformed mild-slope equation is used to eliminate the restriction of wave length on calculation steps. Using the hard disk to record data during the calculation process, the enhanced numerical method can save computer memory space to a certain extent, so that a large-scale sea area can be calculated with high-resolution grids. This model was applied to wave field integral calculation over a radial sand ridge field in the South Yellow Sea. The results demonstrate some features of the wave field：（1） the wave-height contour lines are arc-shaped near the shore; （2） waves break many times when they propagate toward the shore; （3） wave field characteristics on the northern and southern sides of Huangshayang are different; and （4） the characteristics of wave distribution match the terrain features. The application of this model in the region of the radial sand ridge field suggests that it is a feasible way to analyze wave refraction-diffraction effects under natural sea conditions.

Outage Performance of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Based Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Satellite Networks

With rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs), more and more UAVs access satellite networks for data transmission. To improve the spectral efficiency, non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) is adopted to integrate UAVs into the satellite network, where multiple satellites cooperatively serve the UAVs and mobile terminal using the Ku-band and above. Taking into account the rain fading and the fading correlation, the outage performance is first analytically obtained for fixed power allocation and then efficiently calculated by the proposed power allocation algorithm to guarantee the user fairness. Simulation results verify the outage performance analysis and show the performance improvement of the proposed power allocation scheme.

Application of neuroendoscopic surgical techniques in the assessment and treatment of cerebral ventricular infection

Cerebral ventricular infection (CVI) is one of the most dangerous complications in neurosurgery because of its high mortality and disability rates. Few studies have examined the application of neuroendoscopic surgical techniques (NESTs) to assess and treat CVI. This multicenter, retrospective study was conducted using clinical data of 32 patients with CVI who were assessed and treated by NESTs in China. The patients included 20 men and 12 women with a mean age of 42.97 years. NESTs were used to obliterate intraventricular debris and pus, fenestrate or incise the intraventricular compartment and reconstruct cerebrospinal fluid circulation, and remove artificial material. Intraventricular irrigation with antibiotic saline was applied after neuroendoscopic surgery (NES). Secondary hydrocephalus was treated by endoscopic third ventriculostomy or a ventriculoperitoneal shunt. Neuroendoscopic findings of CVI were used to classify patients into Grade Ⅰ(n = 3), Grade Ⅱ(n = 13), Grade Ⅲ(n = 10), and Grade Ⅳ(n = 6) CVI. The three patients with grade ⅠCVI underwent one NES, the 23 patients with grade Ⅱ/Ⅲ CVI underwent two NESs, and patients with grade Ⅳ CVI underwent two (n = 3) or three (n = 3) NESs. The imaging features and grades of neuroendoscopy results were positively related to the number of neurosurgical endoscopic procedures. Two patients died of multiple organ failure and the other 30 patients fully recovered. Among the 26 patients with secondary hydrocephalus, 18 received ventriculoperitoneal shunt and 8 underwent endoscopic third ventriculostomy. There were no recurrences of CVI during the 6- to 76-month follow-up after NES. Application of NESTs is an innovative method to assess and treat CVI, and its neuroendoscopic classification provides an objective, comprehensive assessment of CVI. The study trial was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Beijing Shijitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, China.

High Prevalence of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in Beijing： Effect of Maternal Birth weight and Other Risk Factors

Background： Gestational diabetes mellitus （GDM） is associated with both short- and long-term adverse health consequences for both the mother and her offspring. The aim was to study the prevalence and risk factors for GDM in Beijing. Methods： The study population consisted of 15,194 pregnant women attending prenatal care in 15 hospitals in Beijing, who delivered between June 20, 2013, and November 30, 2013, after 28 weeks of gestation. The participants were selected by cluster sampling from the 15 hospitals identified through random systematic sampling based on the number of deliveries in 2012. A questionnaire was designed to collect information. Results： A total of 2987 （19.7%） women were diagnosed with GDM and 208 （1.4%） had diabetes in pregnancy （DIP）, Age （OR： 1.053, 95% CI： 1.033-1.074, P 〈 0.01）, family history of diabetes mellitus （OR： 1.481, 95% CI：1.254 1.748, P 〈 0.01）, prepregnancy body mass index （BMI）（OR： 1.481, 95% CI：1.254 1.748, P 〈 0.01）, BMI gain before 24 weeks （OR： 1.126, 95% CI： 1.075-1.800, P 〈 0.01 ）, maternal birth weight （P 〈 0.01）, and fasting plasma glucose at the first prenatal visit （P 〈 0.01） were identified as risk factors for GDM. In women with birth weight 〈3000 g, GDM rate was significantly higher. Conclusions： One out of every five pregnant women in Beijing either had GDM or DIP and this constitutes a huge health burden for health services. Prepregnancy BMI and weight gain before 24^th week are important modifiable risk factors for GDM. Ensuring birth weight above 3000 g may help reduce risk for future GDM among female offsprings.

Cattle temperament is an interesting trait due to its correlation with production efficiency,labor safety,and animal welfare.To date,however,its genetic basis is not clearly understood.Here,we performed a genome-wide association study for a series of temperament traits in cattle,assessed with via open field and novel object tests,using autosomal single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)derived from the whole-genome sequence.We identified 37 and 29 genome-wide significant loci in the open field and novel object tests,respectively.Gene set analysis revealed the most significant pathway was the neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction pathway,which may be essential for emotional control in cattle.Analysis of the expression levels of 18 tissue-specific genes based on transcriptomic data showed enrichment in the brain,with some candidate genes involved in psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases in humans.Based on principal component analysis,the first principal component explained the largest variance in the open field and novel object test data,and the most significant loci were assigned to SORCS3 and SESTD1,respectively.Our findings should help facilitate cattle breeding for sound temperament by pyramiding favorable alleles to further improve cattle production.

Influence of Reinforcement Mesh Configuration for Improvement of Concrete Durability

Steel bar in concrete structures under harsh environmental conditions, such as chlorine corrosion, seriously affects its service life. Bidirectional electromigration rehabilitation （BIEM） is a new method of repair technology for reinforced concrete structures in such chloride corrosion environments. By applying the BIEM, chloride ions can be removed from the concrete and the migrating corrosion inhibit can be moved to the steel surface. In conventional engineering, the concrete structure is often configured with a multi-layer steel mesh. However, the effect of the BIEM in such structures has not yet been investigated. In this paper, the relevant simulation test is carried out to study the migration law of chloride ions and the migrating corrosion inhibitor in a concrete specimen with complex steel mesh under different energizing modes. The results show that the efficiency of the BIEM increases 50% in both the monolayer steel mesh and the double-layer steel mesh. By using the single-sided BIEM, 87% of the chloride ions are removed from the steel surface. The different step modes can affect the chloride ion removal. The chloride ions within the range of the reinforcement protective cover are easier to be removed than those in the concrete between the two layers of steel mesh. However, the amount of migrating corrosion inhibitor is larger in the latter circumstances.

目的运用K-B法和VITEK2法检测大肠埃希氏菌对氨苄西林等18种抗生素的药敏情况,对比研究二者结果的一致性。方法收集食源性大肠埃希氏菌108株(32株产β-内酰胺酶的大肠埃希氏菌Escherichia coli producingβ-lactamase,ESBLs+E.coli;76株不产β-内酰胺酶的大肠埃希氏菌Escherichia coli non-producingβ-lactamase,ESBLs-E.coli),通过K-B法和VITEK2法检测大肠埃希氏菌对18种抗生素的敏感性。结果除了复方新诺明,两种方法检测其他17种抗生素的敏感率、中介率和耐药率均无统计学上的差异;18种抗生素的一致率(catagorical agreement,CA)在85.18%~100.00%之间,非常重大误差(very major error,VME)在0%~26.41%之间,重大误差(major error,ME)在0%~1.78%之间,次要误差(minor error,MIE)在0%~12.04%之间。其中氨苄西林/舒巴坦的CA(87.96%)、复方新诺明的CA(85.18%)、氨曲南的VME(7.14%)、复方新诺明的VME(26.41%)和氨苄西林/舒巴坦的MIE(12.04%)不符合标准要求。结论K-B法与VITEK2法在耐药表型测定方面不具有完全等同性,K-B法对异质性耐药菌识别能力优于VITEK2法,但是在检测复方新诺明耐药表型时,可采用其他方法进行验证,综合判断后确定结果。

Approximate inter-cell interference modeling for cellular network

In this paper, we develop and analyze several inter-cell interference modeling methods for cellular network. The models can analyze multiple interfering signals under different fading scenarios. Incoherent addition of summing multiple interfering signals is assumed. We propose an approximate method that uses the generalized Gram-Charlier series to analyze the error of the reference model. The approximate method is not only simple but also with neglectable errors. The methods proposed could be very useful in practical system design and analysis.
