The primary objective of this study is to delve into transnational projects conducted between 2014 and 2020,with a strong emphasis on environmental *** focus is directed toward projects that encompass either eco-innovation or feature elements intrinsic to a circular *** achieve this goal,we introduce a pioneering analytical framework tailored to dissect transnational projects,which intricately interweaves the diverse dimensions of environmental quality and innovation,facilitating a comparative assessment across various program *** approach aligns with the overarching mission of the four flagship initiatives,in which we evaluate the combined impacts on sustainability and *** evaluation considers three fundamental factors:(1)resource allocation,(2)innovation type,and(3)infusion of eco-innovation or circular economy *** methodology unfolds through a systematic,step-by-step ***,we meticulously handpick programs,specifically Interreg,Horizon,and Life projects,within the scope of TSG3(Environmental Quality).Each of these programs corresponds to one of the following four flagship initiatives:(1)overseeing and managing marine species,(2)fostering sustainable development in coastal and maritime zones,(3)safeguarding and elevating natural habitats and terrestrial ecosystems,and(4)formulating transnational contingency strategies for maritime *** an exhaustive review,we identify projects that either directly or indirectly champion eco-innovation or other facets of the circular ***,we uncover broader manifestations of innovation,eco-innovation,and circular economy *** the Oslo Manual as a guide,we methodically categorize these innovations into the product,process,organizational,and marketing *** the timeframe under scrutiny,a relatively modest subset of projects embraced eco-innovations and practices aligned with the circular *** findings culminate in

Cytomegalovirus immune evasion by perturbation ot endosomal trafficking

Cytomegaloviruses （CMVs）, members of the herpesvirus family, have evolved a variety of mechanisms to evade the immune response to survive in infected hosts and to establish latent infection, They effectively hide infected cells from the effector mechanisms of adaptive immunity by eliminating cellular proteins （major histocompatibility Class I and Class II molecules） from the cell surface that display viral antigens to CD8 and CD4 T lymphocytes, CMVs also successfully escape recognition and elimination of infected cells by natural killer （NK） cells, effector cells of innate immunity, either by mimicking NK cell inhibitory ligands or by downregulating NK cell-activating ligands, To accomplish these immunoevasion functions, CMVs encode several proteins that function in the biosynthetic pathway by inhibiting the assembly and trafficking of cellular proteins that participate in immune recognition and thereby, block their appearance at the cell surface, However, elimination of these proteins from the cell surface can also be achieved by perturbation of their endosomal route and subsequent relocation from the cell surface into intracellular compartments, Namely, the physiological route of every cellular protein, including immune recognition molecules, is characterized by specific features that determine its residence time at the cell surface, In this review, we summarize the current understanding of endocytic trafficking of immune recognition molecules and perturbations of the endosomal system during infection with CMVs and other members of the herpesvirus family that contribute to their immune evasion mechanisms,

The new coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic posed a great burden on health care systems worldwide and is an enormous and real obstacle in providing needed health care to patients with chronic diseases such as *** to COVID-19,there have been great advances in technology used for management of type 1 diabetes,primarily insulin pumps,sensors,integrated and closed loop systems,ambulatory glucose profile software,and smart phone apps providing necessary essentials for telemedicine implementation right at the beginning of the COVID-19 *** results of these remote interventions are reassuring in terms of glycemic management and hemoglobin A1c ***,data on long-term outcomes and cost reductions are missing as well as proper technical infrastructure and government health policy support.

Liver transplantation serves as a life-saving intervention for patients with endstage liver disease,yet long-term survival remains a ***-liver transplant obesity seems to have a significant contribution to this challenge and it emerges as a significant risk factor for graft steatosis,metabolic syndrome and denovo malignancy *** review synthesizes current literature on prevalence,risk factors and management strategies for post-liver transplant obesity,emphasizing its impact on graft and patient *** review consultation was conducted in Medline/PubMed,SciELO and EMBASE,with the combination of the following keywords:Weight management,liver transplantation,immunosuppressive therapy,lifestyle interventions,bariatric *** therapy has a significant influence on long-term survival of liver transplant patients,yet it seems to have lesser effect on post-transplant obesity development than previously ***,it significantly contributes to the development of other components of metabolic *** predisposing factors for post-transplant obesity development encompass elevated recipient and donor body mass index,a history of alcoholic liver disease,hepatocellular carcinoma,male gender,the absence of cellular rejection and the marital status of the *** immunosuppressive regimens,pharmacotherapy,lifestyle interventions and bariatric surgery represent key components in mitigating post-transplant obesity and improving long-term survival and quality of life in this group of *** identification and intervention thus hold paramount *** research is warranted to refine optimal management strategies and enhance outcomes in this patient population.

Objective The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of oral cadmium(Cd) ingestion on the pulmonary immune response. Methods Determination of Cd content in lungs and histopathological evaluation of the tissue was performed in rats following 30-day oral Cd administration(5 and 50 mg/L). Antioxidant enzyme defense(superoxide dismutase and catalase), cell infiltration, and production of tumor necrosis factor(TNF) and interferon(IFN)-γ, as well as the activity of myeloperoxidase(MPO), nitric oxide(NO), and various cytokines [interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-17] were investigated. Results Cd caused tissue damage and cell infiltration in the lungs, and this damage was more pronounced at higher doses. Cd deposition resulted in lung inflammation characterized by a dose-dependent IL-1β increase in lung homogenates, increased TNF levels at both doses, and IL-6 stimulation at low doses with inhibition observed at higher doses. Cd exerted differential effects on lung leukocytes isolated by enzyme digestion, and these effects were characterized by a lack of change in the production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, an inhibition of IL-1β and TNF, and stimulation of MPO and IFN-γ. The higher capacity of Cd-exposed lung cells to respond to the opportunistic pathogen Staphylococcus epidermidis was demonstrated in vitro. Conclusion The potential of ingested Cd to exert both proinflammatory and immunosuppressive effects on pulmonary tissue inflammation and immune reactivity highlights the complex immunomodulatory actions of this metal.

The etiology of upper gastrointestinal bleeding(UGIB)varies by age,from newborns to adolescents,with some of the causes overlapping between age *** particular causes such as vitamin K deficiency and cow’s milk protein allergy are limited to specific age groups,occurring only in neonates and infants,others such as erosive esophagitis and gastritis may be identified at all ***,the incidence of UGIB is variable throughout the world and in different hospital *** North America and Europe,most UGIBs are nonvariceal,associated with erosive esophagitis,gastritis,and gastric and duodenal *** recent years,the most common causes in some Middle Eastern and Far Eastern countries are becoming similar to those in Western ***,variceal bleeding still predominates in certain parts of the world,especially in South *** most severe hemorrhage arises from variceal bleeding,peptic ulceration,and disseminated intravascular *** is a credible indicator of a UGI source of bleeding in the majority of *** familiar with the most likely UGIB causes in specific ages and geographic areas is especially important for adequate orientation in clinical settings,the use of proper diagnostic tests, and rapid initiation of the therapy. The fundamental approach to the management of UGIBincludes an immediate assessment of severity, detecting possible causes, and providing hemodynamic stability,followed by early endoscopy. Unusual UGIB causes must always be considered when establishing a diagnosis inthe pediatric population because some of them are unique to children. Endoscopic techniques are of significantdiagnostic value, and combined with medicaments, may be used for the management of acute bleeding. Finally,surgical treatment is reserved for the most severe bleeding.

Hyperparathyroidism(HPT)is a condition in which one or more parathyroid glands produce increased levels of parathyroid hormone(PTH),causing disturbances in calcium *** commonly HPT presents with asymptomatic hypercalcemia but the clinical spectrum may include disturbances reflecting the combined effects of increased PTH secretion and *** tumors are rare,benign,tumor-like bone lesions,occurring in 1.5%to 4.5%of patients with HPT,as a complication of an uncontrolled disease pathway,and are nowadays rarely seen in clinical *** tumor can appear either as a solitary or multifocal lesion and usually presents as an asymptomatic swelling or a painful exophytic ***,it can cause a pathological fracture or skeletal pain and be radiologically described as a lytic bone *** diagnosis of a brown tumor in HPT is typically confirmed by assessing the levels of serum calcium,phosphorus,and *** when present,brown tumor is quite pathognomonic for HPT,the histologic finding often suggests a giant cell tumor,while clinical presentation might suggest other more frequent pathologies such as metastatic *** of brown tumors frequently focuses on managing the underlying HPT,which can often lead to regression and resolution of the lesion,without the need for surgical ***,in refractory cases or when dealing with large symptomatic lesions,surgical treatment may be necessary.

Transparency Reports as a Red Flag for Quality Control of Audit Firms The Republic of Macedonia Experiences

A full application of the new auditing law dated 2005 meant, among other things, an obligation for audit firms to present transparency reports. In the period of 2007-2010, audit firms overcame the barrier and started disclosing the data on their operations, being treated as confidential for a long period of time. A continuous period of four years might seem to be a short period to create a big picture of the developments in the audit profession in the Republic of Macedonia. However, the issue of who, how, and for what purposes these data were used remains open. Pursuant to Article 7 of the Statute of the Institute for Certified Auditors of the Republic of Macedonia （ICARM）, the institute is in charge of carrying out quality control. In 2010, ICARM carried out, for the first time, quality control over the operations of audit firms in 2009. Did ICARM use and how much did it use the data from the transparency reports in the process of selecting the entities to be subjected to quality control？ Is it possible to establish relation between transparency in the operations of the audit firms and improvement of quality of services they offer to their clients？ The authors will try to provide the answers to the abovementioned questions in this paper.
