Serum positive cagA in patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia and peptic ulcer disease from two centers in different regions of Turkey

AIm: To investigate and compare frequencies of serum positive cagA in patients from two separate regions of Turkey who were grouped according to the presence of peptic ulcer disease or non-ulcer ***: One hundred and eighty Helicobacter pyloripositive patients with peptic ulcer disease or non-ulcer dyspepsia were included in the study. One hundred and fourteen patients had non-ulcer dyspepsia and 66 had peptic ulcer disease (32 with gastric ulcers and/or erosions and 34with duodenal ulcers). Each patient was tested for serum antibody to H. pylori cagA protein by enzyme ***: The total frequency of serum positive cagA in the study group was 97.2 %. The rates in the patients with peptic ulcers and in those with non-ulcer dyspepsia were 100% and 95.6%, respectively. These results were similar to those reported in Asian studies, but higher than those that have been noted in other studies from Turkey and Western ***: The high rates of serum positive cagA in these patients with peptic ulcer disease and non-ulcer dyspepsia were similar to results reported in Asia. The fact that there was high seroum prevalence regardless of ulcer status suggests that factors other than cagA might be responsible for ulceration or other types of severe pathology in H. pylori-positive individuals.

The main aims of the current study are to determine the morphological features of the periglacial landforms(non-sorted step,mud circle,stony earth circle,thufur,and congeliturbation)located on the Ilgaz mountains,examine the physicochemical and mineralogical properties with pedological processes of the soils,and assess of the effects of climatic conditions controlling the development of *** Ilgaz mountains(2587 m a.s.l.),located in the Western Black Sea Region,within the Anatolian mountains,are important in terms of periglacial landforms(mud circles,stony earth circles,thufurs,non-sorted steps,non-sorted stripes,congeliturbation deposits,and block currents).The descriptive statistics of 123 periglacial landforms measured by fieldworks were *** distribution of freezing and thawing in the Ilgaz mountains throughout the year was evaluated,and it was found that freezing takes place between December and march,freezing-thawing takes place in April,may,October and November,and thawing takes place between June and *** to soil properties,organic matter content changes from 1.88%to 12.72%in non-sorted step soils,while it is between 2.03%and 12.24%in stony earth circle *** organic matter is observed to be close to congeliturbation deposits at lower ratios compared to non-sorted steps,stony earth circles and mud *** soil reactions on stony earth circles and non-sorted steps vary between slightly acidic and slightly *** the other hand,soil samples taken from the mud circles are different from those taken from the non-sorted steps and stony earth *** soil reaction is acidic,and pH changes between 4.86 and *** lime content also varies between 2.81%and 32.08%,with an average of 12.02%.The texture properties of soils are dominantly loam and clay loam,as in the non-sorted steps,stony earth circles,and mud *** their mineralogical properties,the XRD study was carried out to determine the primer mineral

Goals: We aimed to investigate the presence of bacterial structures in choles terol gallstones and particularly presence of Helicobacter spp/H. pylori in gall stones by microbiologic cultivation, histopathologic staining, and polymerase ch ain reaction (PCR). Background: many studies suggest that different mechanisms a re responsible for the formation of pigmented gallstones and cholesterol gallsto nes. Recently, studies showed that infection could have an important role in the formation of cholesterol gallbladder stones. Study: We examined 77 mixed choles terol gallstones. After cholecystectomy, gallbladder cultures were done for H. p ylori and other bacterium. Gallbladder has also been examined by three histopath ologic staining methods (Warthin- Starry, hematoxylin eosin, and gram staining) for Helicobacter spp. In addition, 16S rRNA- PCR amplification was performed f or Helicobacter spp in gallstones. Twenty postmortem gallbladders without gallst ones were investigated by the same histopathologic and PCR methods for Helicobac ter spp. as a control group. Results: Different bacterium were isolated from 22 gallbladder samples (12 Escherichia coli, 8 Pseudomonas, and 2 clostridium) and H. pylori was isolated in 6 gallbladder samples. Helicobacter spp was found in 7 gallstones by PCR amplification. Helicobacter- like organisms were demonstrate d in 18 samples by three different histopathologic methods. Helicobacter- like organisms were also found in five samples by the same histopathologic methods (W arthin- Starry, hematoxylin- eosin, and gram staining). Only four samples were found positive for Helicobacter spp/H. pylori by all methods. Conclusions: Bact erial population including H. pylori could have a possible role in the formation of cholesterol gallstones.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Purpose: To compare the basic proteomic composition of aqueous humour (AH) fro m patients with corneal rejection (patients) with AH from patients with cataract (controls). methods: Aqueous humour was analysed for total protein concentratio n using Bradford’s method and for protein composition using two-dimensional (2 D) gel electrophoresis. Image analysis was used to detect protein spots in 2D ge ls that were increased by more than factor 2 in patients as compared with contro ls. Increased spots were identified by immunoblotting and mass spectrometry. Res ults: Aqueous humour from patients contained significantly higher total protein concentration than did AH from controls. A total of 31 spots were significantly increased in 2D gels from patients. The spots were derived from albumin, α1-an titrypsin, apolipoprotein J, cytokeratin type II, serin proteinase inhibitor and transthyretin. After correction of spot volumes by total protein concentrations , 10 spots derived from albumin, cytokeratin type II and α1-antitrypsin remain ed significantly increased. Conclusion: The proteomic composition of AH differed significantly between patients and controls. The identified proteins suggest th at the changes in AH are due to at least three different mechanisms: breakdown o f the aqueousblood barrier, enzymatic degradation, and liberation of locally syn thesized proteins.
