Epidermal growth factor (EGF), a ligand of the EGF receptor, plays a critical role in the development of gastric cancer. Genetic variants in its promoter region may influence transcription activity and contribute to gastric cancer predisposition. To test this hypothesis, we genotyped three EGF promoter polymorphisms(G61A, G-1380A, and A-1744G) in a case-control study of 675 gastric cancer cases and 704 cancer-free controls. We found that the variant genotypes of EGF 61GA/AA were associated with a significantly decreased risk of gastric cancer(OR = 0.77, 95% CI = 0.61-0.95 ), when compared with wild-type homozygote 61GG. In the combined analysis with all three loci of EGF, subjects carrying one or more variant loci had a significantly decreased risk of gastric cancer in a dose-response manner (adjusted OR = 0.58, 95% CI = 0.42-0.80 for subjects carrying one variant locus and OR =0.46,

The chiral sulfido cluster ( η 5 EtO(O)CC 5H 4)RuComo( μ 3 s)(CO) 8 was synthesized by refluxing a solution of sRuCo 2(CO) 9 and Na〔mo(CO) 3CpC(O)OEt〕 in tetrahydrofuran. It was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NmR. Crystal data: C 16 H 9O 10 ComoRus, m r =649.24, monoclinic, space group P2 1/n, a = 10.075(1), b = 9.034(2), c = 22.973(7), β= 92.70(1), V = 2088.7(8) 3, Z = 4, D c = 2.064g·cm -3 , μ (mo Kα ) = 22.07 cm -1 , F(000) = 1256, T = 296K, final R = 0.030, R w = 0.042 for 3686 observed reflections with I>2\^00σ(I) . The crystal structure determination shows that the cluster has a chiral tetrahedral core containing a ethoxycarbonyl attached to the cyclopentadienyl.\;

A recent research campaign at a Canadian nickel-copper mine involved instrumenting a hard rock sill drift pillar with an array of multi-point rod extensometers,distributed optical fibre strain sensors,and borehole pressure cells(bHPCs).The instrumentation spanned across a 15.24 m lengthwise segment of the relatively m.s.ive granitic pillar situated at a depth of 2.44 km within the *** may 2016 and march 2017,the pillar’s displacement and pressure response were measured and correlated with mining activities on the same level as the pillar,including:(1)mine-by of the pillar,(2)footwall drift development,and(3)ore body stoping *** displacements of the pillar,the extensometers provided high temporal resolution(logged hourly)and the optical fibre strain sensors provide high spatial resolution(measured every 0.65 mm along the length of each sensor).The combination of sensing techniques allowed centimetre-scale rock m.s. bulking near the pillar sidewalls to be distinguished from microstrain-scale fracturing towards the core of the ***,the influence and extent of a mine-scale schistose shear zone transecting the pillar was *** converting measured rock m.s. displacement to velocity,a process was demonstrated which allowed mining activities inducing displacements to be categorised by time-duration and cumulative *** over half of the analysed mining activities,displacements were determined to prolong for over an hour,predominately resulting in submillimetre cumulative displacements,but in some cases multi-centimetre cumulative displacements were *** time-dependent behaviour was more pronounced within the vicinity of the plumb shear *** measurements were also used to assess selected support member load and elongation mobilisation per mining *** was found that a combined static load and elongation capacity of reinforcing members was essential to maintaining excavation stability,while

In this article, a synchronization problem for m.s.er-slave markovian switching complex dynamical networks with time-varying delays in nonlinear function via sliding mode control is investigated. On the basis of the appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, introducing some free weighting matrices, new synchronization criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities （Lm.s.. Then, an integral sliding surface is designed to guarantee synchronization of m.s.er-slave markovian switching complex dynamical networks, and the suitable controller is synthesized to ensure that the trajectory of the closed-loop error system can be driven onto the prescribed sliding mode surface. by using Dynkin＇s formula, we established the stochastic stablity of m.s.er-slave system. Finally, numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results.

AIm:To assess the alcohol drinking patterns in a cohort of primary sclerosing cholangitis(PsC) patients and the possible influence on the development of ***:Ninety-six patients with PsC were evaluated with a validated questionnaire about a patient's lifetime drinking habits:the lifetime drinking history(LDH) *** addition,clinical status,transient elastography and biochem.s.ry values were analysed and *** were defined as having either significant or non-significant *** fibrosis was defined as either an elastography value of ≥ 17.3 kPa or the presence of clinical signs of *** were divided into two groups depending on their alcohol consumption patterns;no/low alcohol consumption(one drink or unit/d) and moderate/high alcohol consumption(≥ 1 drink or unit/d).LDH data were calculated to estimate lifetime alcohol intake(LAI),current alcohol intake,drinks per year before and after diagnosis of *** also calculated the number of episodes of binge-drinking(defined as consuming ≥ 5 drinks per occasion) in total,before and after the diagnosis of ***:The mean LAI was 3882 units of alcohol,giving a mean intake after onset of alcohol consumption of 2.6 units per *** 9% of patients consumed alcohol equal to or more than one unit per *** alcohol intake in patients with significant fibrosis(n = 26) was less than in patients without significant fibrosis(n = 70),as shown by lower values of phosphatidylethanol(b-PEth)(0.1 mol/L vs 0.33 mol/L,respectively,P = 0.002) and carbohydrate-deficient transferrin(CDT)(0.88% vs 1.06%,respectively,P = 0.02).self-reported LAI was similar between the two *** with significant fibrosis reduced their alcohol intake after diagnosis from 103 to 88 units per year whereas patients without fibrosis increased their alcohol intake after PsC diagnosis from 111 to 151 units/*** were no correlations between elastography values and intake of alcoho

Nigeria is an Afrotropical region with considerable ecological heterogeneity and levels of biotic *** its vertebrate fauna,reptiles have broad distributions,thus,they constitute a compelling system for assessing the impact of ecological variation and geographic isolation on species *** red-headed rock agama,Agama agama,lives in a wide range of habitats and,thus,it may show genetic structuring and ***,we tested the hypothesis that ecology affects its genetic structure and population *** inference phylogenetic analysis of a mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)gene recovered four well-supported matrilines with strong evidence of genetic structuring consistent with eco-geographic *** differences among populations based on the mtDNA also correlated with geographic distance. The ecologicalniche model for the matrilines had a good fit and robust performance. Population divergence alongthe environmental axes was associated with climatic conditions, and temperature ranked highestamong all environmental variables for forest specialists, while precipitation ranked highest for theforest/derived savanna, and savanna specialists. Our results cannot reject the hypothesis that nicheconservatism promotes geographic isolation of the western populations of Nigerian A. ***, ecological gradients and geographic isolation impact the genetic structure and population divergenceof the lizards. This species might be facing threats due to recent habitat fragmentation,especially in western Nigeria. Conservation actions appear necessary.
