The International Subcommission on Cambrian Stratigraphy has voted to abandon the traditional tripartite subdivision of the Cambrian Period in favor of a quadripartite structure. Each of the four newly defined epochs will be assigned a name based on the location of the GSSP that defines the base of its basal stage. We do not question the biostratigraphic appropriateness of subdividing the Cambrian Period into four epochs rather than three, however we argue that it is unnecessary and unwise to completely abandon the widely used, easily remembered, relative-position-specific names Early, middle, and Late Cambrian. We propose a simple epoch nomenclature, which retains the familiar names for the intervals of strata to which they have traditionally been applied, and adds just a single, new, easily-remembered name - Ichnocambrian -for the ichnofossil-defined, pre-trilobite-bearing portion of the Cambrian.

In this paper,Support Vector machine(SVm)and K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)based methods are to be applied on fault diagnosis in a robot manipulator.A comparative study between the two classiﬁers in terms of successfully detecting and isolating the seven classes of sensor faults is considered in this *** both classiﬁers,the torque,the position and the speed of the manipulator have been employed as the input ***,it is to mention that a large database is needed and used for the training and testing *** SVm method used in this paper is based on the Gaussian kernel with the parametersγand the penalty margin parameter“C”,which were adjusted via the PSO algorithm to achieve a maximum accuracy *** were carried out on the model of a Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm(SCARA)robot manipulator,and the results showed that the Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)increased the per-formance of the SVm algorithm with the 96.95%accuracy while the KNN algo-rithm achieved a correlation up to 94.62%.These results showed that the SVm algorithm with PSO was more precise than the KNN algorithm when was used in fault diagnosis on a robot manipulator.

It is our great pleasure to put up this special issue in Control Theory and Technology in honor of the 70th birthday of Professor Frank L. Lewis, who has made many truly outstanding contributions to the field of systems and control through the years, which includes applied optimal control, geometric systems theory and nonlinear control in his earlier research period, and his recent focus on cooperative multi-age nt distributed systems, reinforceme nt learning in control, wireless sensor networks for area security monitoring and condition-based maintenanee, robotic system control, and manufacturing process control and scheduling to name a few. Featured in this special issue are 10 manuscripts on control theory and tech no logies, of which many are from the personal and academic friends of Professor Frank Lewis.

Two recent publications in Nature reveal the detailed structural mechanisms underlying the recognition of infection by the bacterial Phage Anti-Restriction Induced System(PARIS).1,2 These findings are important as they show a new strategy for the recognition of viral infections,shed light on principles of host-virus co-evolution and might pave the way for the development of new antimicrobial strategies.

Objective: To evaluate the potential antioxidant and hepatoprotective effects of n-hexane, dichloromethane(DCm), ethyl acetate(EtOAc), n-butanol and aqueous fractions of moringa oleifera(m. oleifera) leaves methanol extract against carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4)-induced liver injury in rats. methods: These fractions were prepared from the m. oleifera leaves methanol extract by solubilization in water and partitioning in n-hexane, EtOAc, DCm and n-butanol. Their phyto-components were identified by GC-mS analysis. The in vitro antioxidant effect of these fractions was carried out by assessment of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity. A total of 40 Sprague Dawley rats were allocated into 8 equal groups: group 1 given olive oil(1 m L/kg ***.), group 2 injected with CCl_4, group 3 to 7 administered with n-hexane, DCm, EtOAc, n-butanol and aqueous fractions, respectively after CCl_4, group 8 administered with silymarin after CCl_4. The activities of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and the levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, total proteins and albumin in serum were determined spectrophotometrically. Glutathione reduced, lipid peroxide by-products levels, glutathione-s-transferase and catalase enzyme activities in the liver homogenate were determined by spectrophotometer. Liver specimens were also examined for histopathological alterations under light microscope. Results: The GCmS analysis of different fractions of the m. oleifera leaves methanol extract revealed that n-hexane, DCm, EtOAc, n-butanol, and aqueous fractions contained 17, 22, 23, 19 and 32 compounds, respectively. The percent and the molecular structure of each component in each fraction were identified. The n-butanol and EtOAc fractions exhibited the strongest in vitro antioxidant activity against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl. Precision Livestock Farming(PLF)is potentially one of the most powerful developments amongst a number of interesting new and upcoming technologies that have the potential to revolutionise the livestock farming *** properly implemented,PLF or Smart Farming could(1)improve or at least objectively document animal welfare on farms;(2)reduce greenhouse gas(GHG)emission and improve environmental performance of farms;(3)facilitate product segmentation and better marketing of livestock products;(4)reduce illegal trading of livestock products;and(5)improve the economic stability of rural ***,there are only a few examples of successful commercialisation of PLF technologies introduced by a small number of commercial companies which are actively involved in the PLF commercialisation *** ensure that the potential of PLF is taken to the industry,it is recommended to:(1)establish a new service industry;(2)verify,demonstrate and publicise the benefits of PLF;(3)better coordinate the efforts of different industry and academic organisations interested in the development and implementation of PLF technologies on farms;and(4)encourage the commercial sectors to assist with professionally managed product development.

The accurate prediction of energy consumption has effective role in decision making and risk management for individuals and ***,the accurate prediction can be realized using the recent advances in machine learning and predictive *** research proposes a novel approach for energy consumption forecasting based on a new optimization algorithm and a new forecasting model consisting of a set of long short-term memory(LSTm)*** proposed optimization algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the LSTm-based model to boost its forecasting *** optimization algorithm is based on the recently emerged dipper-throated optimization(DTO)and stochastic fractal search(SFS)algo-rithm and is referred to as dynamic *** prove the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach,five standard benchmark algorithms,namely,stochastic fractal search(SFS),dipper throated optimization(DTO),whale optimization algorithm(WOA),particle swarm optimization(PSO),and grey wolf optimization(GWO),are used to optimize the parameters of the LSTm-based model,and the results are compared with that of the proposed *** results show that the proposed DDTOSFS+LSTm can accurately forecast the energy consumption with root mean square error RmSE of 0.00013,which is the best among the recorded results of the other *** addition,statistical experiments are conducted to prove the statistical difference of the proposed *** results of these tests confirmed the expected outcomes.
