Eighty male albino rats of Westar strain (350 ± 10 g), 10 to 12 weeks old were divided into four groups. The groups treated are as following. The first control group (Gp. I) was given intraperitoneally in normal saline (1 mL). The second group (Gp. II) was orally infected with 3 × 1012 CFU of E. coli /Kg. BW. The third group (Gp. III) was infected with E. coli and treated with (0.5%) lactoferrin (LF) 72 hours before E. coli infection in filtered tap water for the duration of the experiment (21 days). The fourth group (Gp. IV) was administrated with LF only (0.5%) in drinking water. Two separate blood samples were collected from heart puncture at the end of 1st, and 3rd week post-treatment for immunological studies. The Leukogram in E. coli treated group was insignificant compared with the control group while lymphocytosis was clear compared with the infected group. AIm:To investigate the mechanism of action of thermal cutaneous stimulation on the gastric motor inhibition. mETHODS:The gastric tone of 33 healthy volunteers (20 men, mean age 36.7 ± 8.4 years) was assessed by a barostat system consisting of a balloon-ended tube connected to a strain gauge and air-injection system. The tube was introduced into the stomach and the balloon was inflated with 300 mL of air. The skin temperature was elevated in increments of 3℃ up to 49℃ and the gastric tone was simultaneously assessed by recording the balloon volume variations expressed as the percentage change from the baseline volume. The test was repeated after separate anesthetization of the skin and stomach with lidocaine and after using normal saline instead of lidocaine. RESULTS:Thermal cutaneous stimulation resulted in a significant decrease of gastric tone 61.2% ± 10.3% of the mean baseline volume. mean latency was 25.6 ± 1.2 ms. After 20 min of individual anesthetization of the skin and stomach, thermal cutaneous stimulation produced no significant change in gastric tone. CONCLUSION:Decrease in the gastric tone in response to thermal cutaneous stimulation suggests a reflex relationship which was absent on individual anesthetization of the 2 possible arms of the reflex arc:the skin and the stomach. We call this relationship the"cutaneo-gastric inhibitory reflex". This reflex may have the potential to serve as an investigative tool in the diagnosis of gastric motor disorders, provided further studies are performed in this respect.

AIm： To investigate the hypothesis that duodeno-jejunal dyssynergia existed at the duodeno-jejunal junction.mETHODS： Of 112 patients who complained of epigastric distension and discomfort after meals, we encountered nine patients in whom the duodeno-jejunal junction did not open on duodenal contraction. Seven healthy volunteers were included in the study. A condom which was inserted into the ist duodenum was filled up to 10 mL with saline in increments of 2 mL and pressure response to duodenal distension was recorded from the duodenum, duodeno-jejunal junction and the jejunum.RESULTS： In healthy volunteers, duodenal distension with 2 and 4 mL did not produce pressure changes, while 6 and up to 10 mL distension effected significant duodenal pressure increase, duodeno-jejunal junction pressure decrease but no jejunal pressure change. In patients, resting pressure and duodeno-jejunal junction and jejunal pressure response to 2 and 4 mL duodenal distension were similar to those of healthy volunteers. Six and up to 10 mL 1^st duodenal distension produced significant duodenal and duodeno-jejunal junction pressure increase and no jejunal pressure change.CONCLUSION： Duodeno-jejunal junction failed to open on duodenal contraction, a condition we call ＇duodenojejunal junction dyssynergia syndrome＇ which probably leads to stagnation of chyme in the duodenum and explains patients＇ manifestations.

Roots and Nutrient Distribution under Drip Irrigation and Yield of Faba Bean and Onion

Drip irrigation proved to efficiently provide irrigation water and nutrients to the roots of plants, while maintaining high yield production. This research was established to study the root and nutrient distribution under drip irrigation. Faba bean and onion plants were cultivated in the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture of Suez Canal University in Ismailia city with the application of normal fertilizers to soil. The data showed that soil moisture content in the soil planted with faba bean increased with the horizontal distance between drippers, contrariwise moisture content decreased with horizontal distance with the soil planted with onion. The data showed the vertical distribution of root length, root length density and specific root length of faba bean and onion decreased with increasing soil depth. The data showed that ammonium and nitrate pattern at the soil planted with the both plants increased between drippers and laterals. The peak concentration was recorded 35 mg/kg at 60 - 80 cm soil depth for faba bean and onion, indicating that the NO3-N leaching was low by drip irrigation. Available phosphorus was higher at the surface layer than the subsurface layer at the soil planted with faba bean and onion. Available potassium tended to move both horizontally and downward under drip irrigation.

The subcellular localization of samarium and europium, two rare-earths, increasingly used in both medical and industrial fields, has been studied in several organs such as liver and kidney but never in the mammary gland despite of its importance in the biology of lactation and nutrition domains. The intracellular behaviour of samarium and europium after their intra-peritoneal administration in the lactating mammary gland cells was investigated. The results showed the presence of very electron dense deposits in the glandular epithelial cell lysosomes. These particular lysosomes were never observed in the mammary cell lysosomes of control rats. These intralysosomal deposits were probably composed of insoluble samarium or europium phosphates by analogy with previous studies, the transmission electron microscopy, the ion mass microscopy and the electron probe microanalysis, and other techniques allowing the identification of the chemical structure of the intralysosomal deposits.

This paper introduced an efficient compression technique that uses the compressive sensing(CS)method to obtain and recover sparse electrocardiography(ECG)*** recovery of the signal can be achieved by using sampling rates lower than the Nyquist frequency.A novel analysis was proposed in this *** apply CS on ECG signal,the first step is to generate a sparse signal,which can be obtained using modified Discrete Cosine Transform(mDCT)on the given *** transformation is a promising key for other transformations used in this search domain and can be considered as the main contribution of this paper.A small number of wavelet components can describe the ECG signal as related work to obtain a sparse *** technique for ECGsignal compression,which is a novel area of research,is *** signals are introduced randomly between any successive beats of the ***-BIH database can be represented as the experimental database in this domain of ***-BIH database consists of various ECG signals involving a patient and standard ECG *** can be considered as the simulation tool used in this *** proposed method’s uniqueness was inspired by the compression ratio(CR)and achieved by *** performance measurement of the recovered signal was done by calculating the percentage root mean difference(PRD),mean square error(mSE),and peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR)besides the calculation of ***,the simulation results indicated that this work is one of the most important works in ECG signal compression.

This paper presents an intelligent algorithm for heart diseases diagnosis using phonocardiogram (PCG). The proposed technique consists of four stages: Data acquisition, pre-processing, feature extraction and classification. PASCAL heart sound database is used in this research. The second stage concerns with removing noise and artifacts from the PCG signals. Feature extraction stage is carried out using discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Finally, artificial neural network (ANN) has been used for classification stage with an overall accuracy 97%.

First-principles computation on the basis of density functional theory(DFT) is executed with the CASTEP code to explore the structural, elastic, and electronic properties along with Debye temperature and theoretical Vickers’ hardness of newly discovered ordered mAX phase carbide mo2TiAlC2. The computed structural parameters are very reasonable compared with the experimental results. The mechanical stability is verified by using the computed elastic constants. The brittleness of the compound is indicated by both the Poisson’s and Pugh’s ratios. The new mAX phase is capable of resisting the pressure and tension and also has the clear directional bonding between atoms. The compound shows significant elastic anisotropy. The Debye temperature estimated from.elastic moduli(B, G) is found to be 413.6 K. The electronic structure indicates that the bonding nature of mo2TiAlC2is a mixture of covalent and metallic with few ionic characters. The electron charge density map shows a strong directional mo–C–mo covalent bonding associated with a relatively weak Ti–C *** calculated Fermi surface is due to the low-dispersive mo 4d-like bands, which makes the compound a conductive *** hardness of the compound is also evaluated and a high value of 9.01 GPa is an indication of its strong covalent bonding.

The National Cancer Institute had projected breast cancer(BC) as one of the topmost prevalent malignancies around the *** many cases,BC becomes resistant to chemotherapy,radiation and hormonal *** BC therapies are associated with adverse side effects,drug resistance and *** research work has shown that these dietary phytochemicals(DPs) may exert therapeutic effects by regulating the miRNA expression.A large number of DPs have been researched as miRNA regulatory agents against BC and some other DPs have not yet been tested against *** have discussed the effects of curcumin,diallyl disulphide,3,3′ diindolylmethane,ellagic acid,genistein,indole-3-carbinol,quercetin,resveratrol,and sulforaphane on regulation of expression of BC miRNAs in a wide range of in vitro and in vivo *** have also shown some of the possible DPs(Oleanolic acid,capsaicin,benzyl isothiocyanate,epigallocatechin gallate,phenethyl isothiocyanate and ursolic acid) that have shown miRNA regulatory activities and have not yet been tested against BC ***,current limitations,challenges,future perspectives of DPs and BC research are also critically discussed.
