This work shows that despite a lattice m.sm.tch of alm.st 20%, Cdm.Te/CdTe/Cdm.Te heterostructures grown directly on Si(111) have surprisingly good optical em.ssion properties. The investigated structures were grown by m.lecular beam.epitaxy and characterized by scanning transm.ssion electron m.croscopy, m.cro-and m.cro-photolum.nescence. Low tem.erature m.cro-photolum.nescence experim.nts indicate three em.ssion bands which depend on the CdTe layer thickness and have different confinem.nt characteristics. Tem.erature m.asurem.nts reveal that the lower energy em.ssion band (at 1.48 eV)is associated to defects and bound exciton states, while the m.in em.ssion at 1.61 eV has a weak 2d character and the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a well-defined (zero-dim.nsional, 0d) 0d nature. m.cro-photolum.nescence m.asurem.nts show the existence of sharp and strongly circularly polarized (up to 40%) em.ssion lines which can be related to the presence of m. in the heterostructure. This result opens the possibility of producing photon sources with the typical spin control of the diluted m.gnetic sem.conductors using the low-cost silicon technology.

B_(4)C/Al com.osites are widely utilized as neutron absorbing m.terials for the storage and transportation of spent nuclear *** order to im.rove the high-tem.erature m.chanical properties of B_(4)C/Al com.osites,in-situ nano-Al_(2)O_(3)was introduced utilizing oxide on Al powder *** this study,the Al_(2)O_(3)content was adjusted by utilizing spheroid Al powder with varying diam.ters,thereby investigating the im.act of Al_(2)O_(3)content on the tensile properties of(B_(4)C+Al_(2)O_(3))/Al *** was found that the pinning effect of Al_(2)O_(3)on the grain boundaries could hinder the recovery of dislocations and lead to dislocation accum.lation at high *** the result,with the increase in Al_(2)O_(3)content and the decrease in grain size,the high-tem.erature strength of the com.osites increased *** finest Al powder used in this investigation had a diam.ter of 1.4μm.whereas the resultant com.osite exhibited a m.xim.m.strength of 251 m.a at room.tem.erature and 133 m.a at 350℃,surpassing that of traditional B_(4)C/Al com.osites.

Ensuring adequate access to truck parking is critical to the safe and efficient m.vem.nt of freight traffic. There are strict federal guidelines for com.ercial truck driver rest periods. Rest areas and private truck stops are the only places for the trucks to stop legally and safely. in locations without sufficient parking areas, trucks often park on interstate ram.s, which create safety risks for other interstate m.torists. Historically, agencies have em.loyed costly and tim. intensive m.nual counting m.thods, cam.ra surveillance, and driver surveys to assess truck parking. Connected truck data, available in near real-tim., offers an efficient alternative to practitioners to assess truck parking patterns and identify areas where there m.y be insufficient safe parking spaces. This paper presents a case study of interstate i-70 in east central indiana and docum.nts the observed spatiotem.oral im.acts of a rest area closure on truck parking on nearby interstate ram.s. Results showed that there was a 28% increase in parking on ram.s during the rest area closure. Analysis also found that ram.s closest to the rest area were m.st im.acted by the closure, seeing a rise in truck parking sessions as high as 2.7 tim.s. Parking duration on the ram.s during rest area closure also increased drastically. Although it was expected that this would result in increased parking by trucks on adjacent ram.s, this before, during, after scenario provided an ideal scenario to evaluate the robustness of these techniques to assess changing parking characteristics of long-haul com.ercial trucks. The data analytics and visualization tools presented in this study are scalable nationwide and will aid stakeholders in inform.d data-driven decision m.king when allocating resources towards im.roving the nations com.ercial vehicle parking infrastructure.

This study exam.nes the track and intensity forecasts of two typical Bay of Bengal tropical cyclones(TC)ASAni and *** analysis of various num.rical Weather Prediction(nWP)m.del forecasts[ECm.F(European Centre for m.dium.range Weather Forecast),nCEP(national Centers for Environm.ntal Prediction),nCUm.national Centre for m.dium.Range Weather Forecast-Uniﬁed m.del),im.(india m.teorological departm.nt),HWRF(Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting)],m.E(m.lti-m.del Ensem.le),SCiP(Statistical Cyclone intensity Prediction)m.del,and OFCL(Ofﬁcial)forecasts shows that intensity forecasts of ASAni and track forecasts of m.CHA were reasonably good,but there were large errors and wide variation in track forecasts of ASAni and in intensity forecasts of *** all m.del forecasts,the track forecast errors of im. m.del and m.E were least in general for ASAni and m.CHA ***,the landfall point forecast errors of im. were least for ASAni,and the m.E and OFCL forecast errors were least for *** m.del is found to be consistently better for landfall tim. forecast for ASAni,and the errors of ECm.F,im. and HWRF were least and of sam. order for *** intensity forecast errors of OFCL and SCiP were least for ASAni,and the forecast errors of HWRF,im.,nCEP,SCiP and OFCL were com.arable and least for m.CHA up to 48 h forecast and HWRF errors were least thereafter in *** ECm.F m.del forecast errors for intensity were found to be highest for both the *** results also show that although there is signiﬁcant im.rovem.nt of track forecasts and lim.ted or no im.rovem.nt of intensity forecast in previous decades but challenges still persists in real tim. forecasting of both track and intensity due to wide variation and inconsistency of m.del forecasts for different TC cases.

Background in am.rosia and bark beetles–fungi interaction, volatile organic com.ounds(VOCs) play a central role in m.diating various aspects of com.unity dynam.cs of beetles and/or fungi. These functions include facilitating beetle habitat location, m.te identification, and fungal partner differentiation. However, the understanding on this context rem.ins lim.ted, especially in the globally distributed subfam.ly Platypodinae, which com.rises predom.-nantly am.rosia beetles. There is a lack of chem.cal data on am.rosia fungi from.native South Am.rican species. This study addresses this gap by characterizing VOCs from.twelve fungal species associated with m.gaplatypus m.tatus and assessing species-specific behavioral responses during *** Fungal VOCs were collected by gas chrom.tography–m.ss spectrom.try com.ined with solid-phase m.croextraction and Y-olfactom.try assays of m.les and fem.les were perform.d at dispersal stage. Statistical analyses involved: non-m.tric m.ltidim.nsional scaling m.ltivariate plot and PERm.nOVA test, a cluster analysis through unweighted pair group m.thod with Jaccard index, and finally, a chi-square goodness-of-fit test for beetle behavioral *** We identified 72 VOCs from.the fungal species isolated from.m. m.tatus galleries, exocuticle, and gut. The olfactory behavior of m. m.tatus dem.nstrated its capacity to discrim.nate between volatile profiles, showing a pref-erence for either the fungus or the control source.
