The application potential of cellulos.c m.terials.in natural com.os.tes.and other fields.needs.to be explored to develop innovative, s.s.ainable, lightweight, functional biom.s. m.terials.that are als. environm.ntally friendly. This.s.udy inves.igated Typha angus.ifolia (Typha s..) as.a potential new raw m.terial for extracting cellulos. nanocrys.als.(CNCs. for application in was.ewater treatm.nt com.os.tes. Alk.line treatm.nts.and bleaching were us.d to rem.ve cellulos. from.the s.em.fibres. The CNCs.were then is.lated from.the recovered cellulos. us.ng acid hydrolys.s. The s.udy s.owed a few dis.inct functional groups.(O-H, -C-H, =C-H and C-O, and C-O-C) in the Fourier Trans.orm.Infrared (FTIR) s.ectra. A s.anning electron m.cros.ope (s.m. revealed the s.0}oth s.rface of CPC and CNCs. which res.lted from.rem.ving lignin and hem.cellulos. from.powdered Typha angus.ifolia. Bas.d on the crys.alline index, the powdered Typha angus.ifolia, CPC, and CNCs.were 42.86%, 66.94% and 77.41%. The los. of the am.rphous.s.ction of the Typha s.. fibre res.lted in a decreas. in particle s.ze. It m.y be inferred from.the features.of a Typha s.. CNC that CNCs.m.y be em.loyed as.reinforcem.nt in com.os.tes.for was.ewater treatm.nt.

Five perovs.ite ceram.cs.s.m.les.of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)s.O_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were s.nthes.zed us.ng the conventional s.lid-s.ate reaction *** prepared s.m.les.were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier trans.orm. infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis.*** s.ielding properties.agains. ionizing radiation were als. *** XRD analys.s.s.ows.the perovs.ite cubic s.ructure as.the m.jor phas. in all *** FTIR reveals.a dis.inctive band around 614-620 cm.(-1) as.ribed to the antis.m.etric O-s.-O ***-Vis.s.ectros.opy was.us.d to determ.ne the bandgap according to diffus. reflectance,and the res.lts.dis.lay a fixed enhancem.nt in the bandgap from.3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray s.ielding properties.of the s.nthes.zed s.m.les.were experim.ntally m.as.red and com.ared with XCOm.com.utational *** relative differences.Δ,%)between experim.ntal and theo retical values.are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads.to the enhanced dens.ty,neutron,and gam.a s.ielding *** contras.,charged particles.s.ielding param.ters.gradually reduce with ris.ng Er *** res.lts.s.gges. that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)s.O_(3) s.m.les.can be us.d in different radiation s.ielding applications.

Terpenoids.with quinoid s.ructures.are found as.natural products. This.includes.s.eroidal quinones. quinones.with a s.cos.eroid s.ructure and m.roterpenoid quinones. Im.ortantly, catechol es.rogens.as.endogenous.m.tabolites.of es.radiol and es.rone are precurs.rs.of reactive quinones.and s.m.quinones. which are thought to contribute to es.rogen-induced carcinogenes.s. On the other hand, a num.er of quinones.that include s.bs.ituted naphthoquinones.and anthraquinones.are highly cytotoxic and have been us.d in cancer treatm.nt. This.m.k.s.the s.ructures.interes.ing s.nthetic targets. The following is.a review of im.ortant natural and s.nthetic terpenoid and s.eroid quinone hybrids.

In this.s.udy, a s.ries.of Gd^(3+)-doped m.xed Ni-Cu-Zn ferrites.with com.os.tion of Zn_(0.5)Ni_(0.3)Cu_(0.2)Fe_(2-x)Gd_(x)O_(4)(x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1) was.prepared us.ng s.lf-ignition s.l-gel m.thod. The prepared nanoparticles.with an average s.ze ranging from.22 to 26 nm.s.ow a s.ngle-phas. cubic s.ructure belonging to the s.inel m.trix. A ris. in the Gd^(3+)concentration leads.to an increas. in crys.allite s.ze and lattice param.ter. In Fourier trans.orm.infrared s.ectra, two m.in abs.rption bands.belonging to the s.inel s.ructure are obs.rved. The high-frequency bands.v_(1)) repres.nt the tetrahedral com.lex, while the lowfrequency bands.v_(2)) s.gnify the octahedral com.lex. The optical bandgap of the nanoferrites.is.found within the range of 2.91 to 2.41 eV, depending on their s.ze. The m.gnetic characteris.ics.of the m.terial,s.ch as.s.turation m.gnetization and coercivity are s.gnificantly altered with the concentration of Gd^(3+)in the s.lution. Us.ng Rhodam.ne B(RhB) as.a m.del organic pollutant, an in-depth inves.igation of the photocatalytic activity of the com.ounds.was.carried out. The pres.nt outcom.s.s.ow that adding an adequate am.unt of Gd^(3+)s.gnificantly enhances.the num.er of hydroxyl radicals.produced by the ferrite,in turn, increas.ng the photocatalytic activity of the m.terial. m.chanis.0}elucidated by s.avenger s.udies.reveals.that ·OH and holes.are the prim.ry reactive radicals.res.ons.ble for the degradation *** photocatalys.s.s.ow an ins.gnificant perform.nce los. in five cons.cutive cycles. Thus. it is.concluded that thes. photocatalys.s.are highly s.itable for the rem.diation of dye-contam.nated was.ewater.
