The accum.lation of undesirable deposits on the heat exchange surface represents a critical issue in industrial heat *** experim.ntal m.asurem.nts of the fouling is relatively difficult and,often,this m.thod does not lead to precise *** overcom. these problem.,in the present study,a new approach based on an Artificial Neural Network(ANN)is used to predict the fouling resistance as a function of specific m.asurable variables in the phosphoric acid concentration *** include:the phosphoric acid inlet and outlet tem.eratures,the steam.tem.erature,the phosphoric acid density,the phosphoric acid volum. flow rate circulating in the *** statistical accuracy indices are em.loyed sim.ltaneously to justify the interrelation between these independent variables and the fouling resistance and to select the best training algorithm.allowing the determ.nation of the optim.l num.er of hidden *** particular,the BFGS quasi-Newton back-propagation approach is found to be the m.st perform.ng of the considered training ***,the best topology ANN for the shell and tube heat exchanger is obtained with a network consisting of one hidden layer with 13 neurons using a tangent sigm.id transfer function for the hidden and output *** m.del predicts the experim.ntal values of the fouling resistance with AARD%=0.065,m.E=2.168×10^(−11),Rm.E=4.656×10^(−6)and r^(2)=0.994.

m.crowave irradiation has been used to prepare AI, Fe-pillared clays from.a natural Tunisian sm.ctitc from.the E1 Hicha deposit （province of Gabes）. Chem.cal analysis, XRD spectra and surface properties evidenced the success of pillaring process. The obtained solids present higher surthce area and pore volum. than conventionally prepared A1-Fe pillared clays. The m.in advantages of the m.crowave m.thodology are the considerable reduction of the synthesis tim. and the consum.tion of water. The m.crowave-derived AI-Fe pillared clays have been tested tbr catalytic wet air oxidation （CWAO） of phenol in a stirred tank at 160℃ and 20 bar of pure oxygen pressure. These m.terials are efficient for CWAO of phenol and are highly stable despite the severe operating conditions （acidic m.dia, high pressure, high tem.erature）. The catalyst deactivation was also significantly hindered when com.ared to conventionally prepared clays. A1-Fe pillared clays prepared by m.crowave m.thodology are prom.sing as catalysts for CWAO industrial water treatm.nt.

Neurobrucellosis is a rare form.of localized brucellosis usually with no system.c m.nifestations. We report a rare case of brucellosis presenting as m.ningoencephalitis associated with *** patient had a lym.hocytic predom.nant CSF and was initially treated with em.irical anti tubercular therapy and steroids.A week later,when his CSF culture grew Brucella species,the treatm.nt was changed to a com.ination of streptom.cin,doxycycline and rifam.icin and the patient im.roved with this *** case illustrates the need to consider neurobrucellosis as a close differential diagnosis of neurotuberculosis in endem.c areas when the patient presents with m.ningo encephalitis with lym.hocytic CSF.

Objective:To highlight the spectrum.of clinical m.nifestations,labs,com.lications,treatm.nt and outcom. of ***:Retrospective study was conducted in Kasturba m.dical College,m.nipal University,Karnataka,India which included 68 confirm.d cases of brucellosis from.January 2006- April *** of brucellosis was m.de by culturing the sera/body fluids by standard BACTEC m.thod(or) by testing the sera for Brucella agglutinins using the standard agglutination test(SAT).A titer of 1:320 or m.re was considered as *** 16 was used for statistical analysis and m.crosoft Excel for graphical ***:Of the 68 patients,46(68%) were m.le and 22(32%) were fem.le patients with age distribution of 9-75 *** four(64.7%) had history of contact with unpasteurized dairy products or infected *** included fever(68,100%),m.algia(21,31%),m.sculoskeletal sym.tom. (23,34%),headache(16,24%),gastrointestinal sym.tom.(19,28%) and altered sensorium.3, 4%).Co-m.rbidities and associations included HIV positivity(2,3%),type 2 diabetes m.llitus (13,19%),steroid therapy(3,4%) and HBsAg positivity(8,12%).Ten(15%) patients had cervical lym.hadenopathy,4(6%) had splenic enlargem.nt,6(7%) had hepatom.galy,19(28%) had hepatosplenom.galy and 2(3%) got m.ningeal *** was observed in 39(57.3%) cases,high erythrocyte sedim.ntation rate(ESR) was present in 55(80.8%) cases,leucocytosis in 10(14.7%),leucopenia in 10(14.7%),throm.ocytopenia in 23(33.82%) and throm.ocytosis in 2(2.94%) ***:In countries like India,where brucellosis and tuberculosis are endem.c;rapid,sensitive and highly specific diagnostic m.thods are required to m.ke early diagnosis and prevent resistance as there is an overlap in therapy.

The aim.of this study was to determ.ne the source apportionm.nt of dust fall around Lake Chini, m.laysia. Sam.les were collected m.nthly between Decem.er 2012 and m.rch2013 at seven sam.ling stations located around Lake Chini. The sam.les were filtered to separate the dissolved and undissolved solids. The ionic com.ositions（NO-3, SO2-4, Cl-and NH＋4） were determ.ned using ion chrom.tography（IC） while m.jor elem.nts（K, Na, Ca and m.） and trace m.tals（Zn, Fe, Al, Ni, m., Cr, Pb and Cd） were determ.ned using inductively coupled plasm. m.ss spectrom.try（ICP-m.）. The results showed that the average concentration of total solids around Lake Chini was 93.49 ± 16.16 m./（m.·day）. SO2-4, Na and Zn dom.nated the dissolved portion of the dust fall. The enrichm.nt factors（EF） revealed that the source of the trace m.tals and m.jor elem.nts in the rain water was anthropogenic, except for Fe. Hierarchical agglom.rative cluster analysis（HACA） classified the seven m.nitoring stations and 16 variables into five groups and three groups respectively. A coupled receptor m.del, principal com.onent analysis m.ltiple linear regression（PCA-m.R）, revealed that the sources of dust fall in Lake Chini were dom.nated by agricultural and biom.ss burning（42%）,followed by the earth＇s crust（28%）, sea spray（16%） and a m.xture of soil dust and vehicle em.ssions（14%）.

Haze episodes have becom. a m.jor concern in m.laysia over the past few decades and have an increasingly im.ortant im.act on the country each and every year. During haze episodes from.biom.ss burning in Southeast Asia, particularly from.Sum.tra, Indonesia, particulate m.tter Pm..5 is found to be one of the dangerous sources of airborne pollution and is known to seriously affect hum.n health. This study determ.nes the com.osition of carbohydrates （as levoglucosan）, surfactants, m.jor elem.nts, and anions in Pm..5 during a 2013 haze episode. Pm..5 sam.les were collected from.Universiti Kebangsaan m.laysia, Bangi, using a high volum. sam.ler during a seven-day m.nitoring cam.aign during the peak of that year＇s haze episode. Pm..5 concentrations ranged between 14.52 and 160.93 μg/m., exceeding the 2005 WHO air quality guidelines for Pm..5 （25 μg/m. for 24-h m.an）. The patterns for levoglucosan, surfactants, m.jor elem.nts, and anionic com.ositions were proportional to the Pm..5 concentrations. Changes in Pm..5 observed on days 3 and 4 were influenced by a com.ination of m.teorological factors, which substantiate the theory that such factors play a pivotal role in haze episodes.
