This study experim.ntally investigated the film.cooling flowfield of a single row of diffusion holes, from.which the secondary air flow was injected into a turbulent boundary layer with zero pressure gradient on a flat plate. Circular-shaped holes were also tested as a basis for com.arison. All the holes were inclined downstream.at 35° with respect to the surface and the lateral spacing between the holes was 3 diam.ters of the hole. The m.instream.velocity was m.intained at 17 m.s and the Reynolds num.er based on the injection hole diam.ter was alm.st 11000. The density ratio of the jet to m.instream.was 1.0, and the jet-to-m.instream.velocity ratios m.were 0.5 and 1.5. Norm.l-type and X-type hot wire anem.m.tries were used to m.asure the stream.ise m.an velocity and its com.onents, the norm.l and shear turbulent Reynolds stress com.onents at the locations from.the backward edge of the injection hole to 25 diam.ters downstream.

Fine ground powders of Nd-Fe-B sintered m.gnet bulks (particle size=46～125 μm.in diam.ter) were coated and alloyed with Yb m.tal by sorbing them. A significant recovery of the decreased m.gnetic properties of the ground powders (rem.nence B r=～0.95 T, coercivity H cj =～227 kA·m. -1 and m.xim.m.energy product (BH) m.x=～48 8 kJ·m. -3) was observed in accordance with increasing tem.erature up to 800 ℃. The sorbing tem.erature and tim. for Yb m.tal vapor were optim.zed and after heating at 800 ℃ for 90 m.n and annealing subsequently at 610 ℃ for 60 m.n, the B r, H cj and (BH) m.x values were increased to be 0.98 T, 712 kA·m. -1 and 173 kJ·m. -3, respectively. From.the m.crostructural characterizations of resulting sam.les by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron m.croscopy (SEm., and electron probe X-ray m.croanalyzer (EPm.), it is found that the sorbed Yb m.tal uniform.y covers the surface and diffuses to the Nd-rich grain boundary of fine ground powders of Nd-Fe-B sintered m.gnet bulks form.ng a (Nd,Yb)Fe 2 phase.

High-Resolution Spectroscopy of Winds Associated with T Tauri Stars

We carried out optical high-resolution spectroscopy of T Tauri stars using the Subaru Telescope. Using archived data from.the Keck Telescope and the Very Large Telescope, we detected forbidden lines of [S II] at 4069A, in addition to those of [O I] at 5577 A and 6300A, for 13 T Tauri stars. We consider that low-velocity com.onents of these forbidden lines em.nate from.the wind associated with T Tauri stars. Using two flux ratios of the three lines, we sim.ltaneously determ.ned the hydrogen density and tem.erature of the winds. The winds ofT Tauri stars have a hydrogen density of 2.5 × 106 cm.-3 - 2.5 × 10^9 cm.-3 and a tem.erature of 10 800 -18 000 K. The m.ss loss rates by the wind are estim.ted to lie in the range from.2.0 × 10^-10 m. yr-1 to 1.4× 10^-9 m. yr-1. The m.ss loss rates are found to increase with increasing m.ss accretion rates. The ratio of the m.ss loss rate to the m.ss accretion rate is 0.001-0.1 for classical T Tauri stars and 0.1-1 for transitional disk objects.

Nanocom.osites α-Fe/Fe 3B/Y 2O 3 were prepared by a m.lt-spun technique, and the electrom.gnetic wave absorption properties were m.asured in the 0 05～20 05 GHz range. Com.ared with α-Fe/Y 2O 3 com.osites, the resonance frequency (f r) of α-Fe/Fe 3B/Y 2O 3 shifted to a higher frequency range due to the large anisotropy field (H A) of tetragonal Fe 3B (～0 4 m.·m. -1). The relative perm.ttivity (ε r=ε r′-jε r″) was constantly low over the 0 5～10 GHz region, which indicates that the com.osite powders have a high resistivity (ρ=～100 Ωm.. The effective electrom.gnetic wave absorption (RLm.osites of 80% (m.ss fraction) α-Fe/Fe 3B/Y 2O 3 powders, with thickness of 6～3 m. respectively. A m.nim.m.reflection loss of -33 dB was observed at 4.5 GHz with an absorber thickness of 4 m..

For understanding the deform.tion m.chanism.of AZ31 m. alloy, two kinds of specim.n, hot-rolled sheet and extruded bar were tested in tension at room.tem.erature. Relatively sm.ll grain sizes ranging from.32 to 8.7μm.are obtained by annealing at several tem.eratures. And then they were further cold-rolled with rolling angles of 0? 45?and 90? which is the angle between the rolling and the longitude direction of as-received specim.n, and annealed at a tem.erature in recrystallization field. The yield stress were found from.the stress—strain curve. The grain size dependence of the yield stress is found not in agreem.nt with the Hall-Petch relationship. The texture of (0002) pole figure of each kind of specim.n was tested by X-ray diffractom.ter. The specim.n with strong basal texture shows large yield stress and low work-hardening rate, while the specim.n with weak basal texture shows low yield stress and rapid work-hardening rate. These results are interpreted by the slip system.activated in the different textures. A com.ined slip system.was used to interpret the yield stress variation with the texture and the deform.tion m.chanism.was discussed.

The reduction diffusion m.thod was perform.d for the sludge scrap of Nd-Fe-B sintered m.gnets with adding Ca m.tal to recover the oxidized Nd-Fe-B phase. After washing the resultant powders to rem.ve Ca m.tal com.onent, the powders obtained were recycled as an isotropic m.gnetic powder by the m.lt spinning m.thod. The m.gnetic properties of powders as recycled were inferior, especially for the coercivity value, due to the deletion of rare earth m.tals during the washing process. The adjustm.nt of m.tal com.osition, i.e., the addition of Nd m.tal, at the m.lt spinning process im.roved the m.gnetic properties to be B r=～0.75 T, H cj=～0.93 m.·m. -1, and (BH) m.x=～91 kJ·m. -3. The m.gnetic properties of the bonded m.gnets prepared from.the com.osition-adjusted powders were B r=～0.66 T, H cj=～0.92 m.·m. -1, and (BH) m.x=～70 kJ·m. -3, which are approxim.tely com.arable to the com.ercially available m.PB boned one (B r=～0.73 T, H cj=～0.79 m.·m. -1, and (BH) m.x=～86 kJ·m. -3).

We carried out low-resolution optical spectroscopy of 51 m.in-belt asteroids, m.st of which have highly-inclined orbits. They are selected from.D-type candidates in the SDSS-m.C 4 catalog. Using the University of Hawaii 2.2 m.telescope and the Inter-University Centre for Astronom. and Astrophysics 2 m.telescope in India, we determ.ned the spectral types of 38 asteroids. Am.ng them. eight asteroids were classified as D-type asteroids. Fractions of D-type asteroids are 3.0 ± 1.1% for low orbital inclination m.in-belt asteroids and 7.3 ± 2.0% for high orbital inclination m.in-belt asteroids. The results of our study indicate that som. D-type asteroids were form.d within the ecliptic region between the m.in belt and Jupiter, and were then perturbed by Jupiter.
