Different techniques have been proposed to increase the bearing capacity of open-ended *** helices to the shaft and tapering the pile shaft could be used sim.ltaneously to enhance the static and dynam.c behaviors of these *** paper subjects the bearing capacity,stiffness,frictional behavior,and m.terial efficiency of the tapered helical piles to *** helical piles are introduced herein as an alternative option to im.rove the m.terial efficiency of hollow *** on the Taguchi m.thod,a series of experim.nts was designed and *** axial responses of tapered helical piles are also investigated using finite elem.nt *** results derived from.loadedisplacem.nt curves and strain gages are used to characterize the axial com.ression responses of tapered helical *** effects of tapered angle,helices diam.ter and helices distance are exam.ned using dim.nsionless param.ters,and the degree of contribution of these factors is calculated on each of the enum.rated variables *** results show that the shaft friction resistance of tapered helical piles increases continuously with the pile head ***,the effect of tapered wall on the shaft friction resistance is m.re tangible at low stress *** results showed that the relative m.terial efficiency factor of the optim.m.pile could be 2.5 tim.s that of unoptim.zed pile with a sim.lar quantity of m.terial.

In this paper a new 2D-FGm.m.terial m.del based on m.ri-Tanaka schem. and third-order transition function has been developed for a thick hollow cylinder of finite *** m.chanical stress analysis is perform.d by utilizing the finite elem.nt *** corresponding m.terial,displacem.nt and stress distributions are evaluated for different values of nr and ***,the effects of different m.terial property distributions on the effective stress with respect to the m.tallic phase volum. fraction are *** is dem.nstrated that the increase in nr and V_m.leads to a significant reduction in the effective ***,it is shown that the ceram.c phase rich cylinder wall has lower m.xim.m.effective stresses of which the lowest value of effective stress has been evaluated for nr=20 and nz=*** m.nim.m.value is about half the m.xim.m.effective stress which has been evaluated for the non-FGm.cylinder case（nr=nz=0.1）.

Geom.tric or sub-scale m.deling techniques are used for the evaluation of large and com.lex dynam.c structures to ensure accurate reproduction of load path and thus leading to true dynam.c characteristics of such structures. The sub-scale m.deling technique is very effective in the prediction of vibration characteristics of original large structure when the experim.ntal testing is not feasible due to the absence of a large testing facility. Previous researches were m.re focused on free and harm.nic vibration case with little or no consideration for readily encountered random.vibration. A sub-scale m.deling technique is proposed for estim.ting the vibration characteristics of any large scale structure such as Launch vehicles, m.ga structures, etc., under various vibration load cases by utilizing precise scaled-down m.del of that dynam.c structure. In order to establish an analytical correlation between the original structure and its scaled m.dels, different scale m.dels of isotropic cantilever beam.are selected and analyzed under various vibration conditions（ i.e. free, harm.nic and random. using finite elem.nt package ANSYS. The developed correlations are also validated through experim.ntal testing The prediction m.de from.the vibratory response of the scaled-down beam.through the established sets of correlation are found sim.lar to the response m.asured from.the testing of original beam.structure. The established correlations are equally applicable in the prediction of dynam.c characteristics of any com.lex structure through its scaled-down m.dels. This paper presents m.dified sub-scale m.deling technique that enables accurate prediction of vibration characteristics of large and com.lex structure under not only sinusoidal but also for random.vibrations.

Indaziflam.is a new preem.rgence herbicide for the control of annual grass and broadleaf weeds in various cropping system. including pecan *** objectives of this study were to（1） determ.ne the m.bility and dissipation of indaziflam.and（2） evaluate herbicide efficacy in a flood-irrigated pecan orchard in southern New m.xico,*** was applied at 0,35.5,and 73.1 g/ha in areas with（im.acted） and without（unim.acted） tree injury *** sam.les were collected at 0-15,15-30,and 30-46 cm.depths 25,63,90,and 125 days after the first herbicide *** soil sam.les were collected 4,30,and 55 days after the second *** was detected in soil sam.les collected at each depth,suggesting m.vem.nt with irrigation *** concentrations decreased with increasing soil depth and *** m.ss recoveries were greater in the unim.acted area than in the im.acted area after the first and second *** half-lives of indaziflam.in the soil ranged from.30 to 85 days for total indaziflam.recovered from.the entire soil profile after the first and second applications in both *** percent weed control was sim.lar in the im.acted and unim.acted areas for both rates of indaziflam.on 25 and 53 days after application;however,on 90 days after the application,percent weed control was lower in the im.acted than unim.acted area.

m.st hospitals have a contingency plan,based on all-risks and all-hazards assessm.nt ***,em.rging threats and risks often necessitate a flexible approach to em.rgency m.nagem.nt at several levels of a disaster response system.for exam.le,in ***,and possibly other countries,has lim.ted possibilities of surge capacity in the m.nagem.nt of large-scale disasters and em.rgencies,which necessitates a local/national partnership and a flexible local disaster and contingency *** study evaluates the opinions of a selected m.nagerial group,both at operative and strategic levels,regarding possible changes in a m.jor hospital's contingency plan during the ongoing COVID-19 *** interviews were conducted to explore the elem.nts of surge capacity and an operational tool,consisting of com.and and control,safety,com.unication,assessm.nt,triage,treatm.nt,and *** results show a need to create feasible m.nagem.nt m.thods that can be evaluated,establish clear leadership,put preparedness as a constant point on the highest m.nagerial agenda,im.rove external m.nitoring,and create a regional coordinating ***,the results em.hasize the significant role played by the incident com.and system.and qualified leadership to facilitate com.etent and crucial m.dical decision m.king,as well as to provide reliable com.unication,collaboration,and coordination in a m.lti-agency response system.during dynam.c and unexpected *** steps enable a constant connection between reactive contingency plans and the proactivity in continuous risk assessm.nt and enhance the flexibility of the contingency plans.

In this paper, design, re-design, and perform.nce of a long-standing very deep excavation, which was originally planned to depth of 38 m. are presented. Over-digging was not planned in the original design,thus the reassessm.nt was perform.d. Two m.in topics were followed: deepening to increase the m.xim.m.depth of an existent excavation from.38 m.to 42.5 m. and feasibility for upgrading a predesigned support system.from.tem.orary to perm.nent support system. The geological investigations in the project site illustrated a type of stiff and cem.nted coarse-grained alluvium. An observational approach with additional geotechnical investigations and in situ tests was applied. Back analyses of stability of an unsupported access ram., as well as deform.tion m.nitoring of walls, were used in order to review geotechnical design param.ters that represent the full-scale behavior of the ground. Additional nails and soldier piles together with building m.t foundation were im.lem.nted as a com.lem.ntary lateral support in the retaining system. From.an engineering point of view, by assum.ng a corrosion rate of 0.065 m./a for existent rebars, according to chem.cal and electrical resistivity tests, the long-term.perform.nce of the revised retaining system.was verified by static and pseudo-dynam.c ultim.te lim.t state analyses. Perform.nce m.nitoring during the construction shows that the m.asured deform.tion is in the lower lim.t of the prediction.
