Combinations of metal and lanthanide oxides have been done through casted films for potential medical applications. In this regard, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide/chromium(Ⅲ) oxide/graphene oxide(GO)/polycaprolactone(PCL) based films nano-composites(NCs) were fabricated, pointing their utilization as a biological scaffold for wound dressing purposes. Also, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide and chromium(Ⅲ) oxide have been merged as promising optical constituents due to their unique optical behavior. The structural and compositional examination of the studied NCs was executed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman, and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEm). The Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL NC exhibits a surface with a lower roughness degree owing to the presence of GO. Cr_(2)O_(3)shows size reduction upon GO insertion to reach 1.2 μm as the average grain size, whilst Sm_(2)O_(3)records an average grain size of less than 1 μm. As well, the polymeric nano-compositions exhibit variation in contact angle values that hit 29.76°± 3.52°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/PCL, and 48.62°± 1.37°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL as the second lowest contact angle. The optical behavior contributes to absorption edge relocation along the x-axis from 1.7 eV for pure PCL, to 2.65 eV for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL. Regarding biological responses, the cell exposed to 2.5 μg/m L of Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL shows cell viability of 119.31%, while 5 μg/m L hits 99.6%. Additionally, the resulting cell attachment micrographs show layers of fibroblast tissue, besides the proliferation and growth of cultivated cells. Thus, the Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL scaffold provides 3D proliferation of fibroblast cells endorsing the wound healing process.

Developing a biomaterial for wound healing applications is still a ***,dysprosium oxide(Dy_(2)O_(3)),aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3)),and graphene oxide(GO)were embedded in cast films based on polycaprolactone(PCL)to be examined for wound dressing *** techniques were used to characterize the fabricated films including X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),Raman,and scanning electron microscopy(SEm),besides their biological *** thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)exhibits high thermal stability as the scaffold weight decreases slightly to 98.6%after raising the temperature from room temperature to 280℃.The cell viability was investigated and it is shown that the viable cells grow up to approximately 93%at 75μg/***,the cell attachment shows excellent behavior as the cells attach on most of the surface of the modified PCL which shows high biocompatibility.

Overview of Past, Present and Future marine Power Plants

In efforts to overcome an foreseeable energy crisis predicated on limited oil and gas supplies, reserves; economic variations facing the world, and of course the environmental side effects of fossil fuels, an urgent need for energy sources that provide sustainable, safe and economic supplies for the world is imperative. The current fossil fuel energy system must be improved to ensure a better and cleaner transportation future for the world. Despite the fact that the marine transportation sector consumes only 5% of global petroleum production; it is responsible for 15% of the world NOx and SOx emissions. These figures must be the engine that powers the scientific research worldwide to develop new solutions for a very old energy problem. In this paper, the most effective types of marine power plants were discussed. The history of the development of each type was presented first and the technical aspects were discussed second. Also, the fuel ceils as a new type of power plants used in marine sector were briefed to give a complete overview of the past, present and future of the marine power plants development. Based on the increased worldwide concerns regarding harmful emissions, many researchers have introduced solutions to this problem, including the adoption of new cleaner fuels. This paper was guided using the same trend and by implementing the hydrogen as fuel for marine internal combustion engine, gas turbines, and fuel cells.

Failure analysis of the semi-permanent coupler which failed in service of metro rail was conducted in order to know the reason for failure. The examinations include visual, photo detection, chemical analysis, hardness measurements, tensile and v-notch impact test, microstructure and SEm observation of fracture surface. Chemical analysis and tensile test shows that the coupler material can be classified as grade B cast steel in AAR m201 steel casting specification. Although the microstructure of the coupler material shows incomplete homogenization indicating the improper conduction of heat treatment, the v-notch impact results is accepted according to this specification. The fracture surface shows the existence of much porosity at the internal surface of the hollow like pipe-coupler and the fracture started at these sites showing beach marks. SEm observation of the fracture surface shows fatigue striations indicating the occurrence of fatigue started at the porosity defects. The cast defects act as a stress concentration site for fatigue crack initiation. Crack occurred, propagated, and connected the defects to each other. The occurrence of collision resulted in bending of the female part of the coupler（plastic deformation occurs） at the lower thin wall（～ 5.41 mm thickness）. moreover, opening of the previously formed fatigue crack and accelerating the failure were occurred. Recommendations were explained to prevent the occurrence of this failure.

Surface modification was carried out on low carbon steel sheet（JISG3141 SPCC） using Friction Stir Processing（FSP）. The friction stir processing slightly increased the surface hardness of the low carbon steel sheet. In order to significantly increase the surface hardness of the low carbon sheet, WC powder having a size of 5 μm was embedded into the low carbon surface layer using sandwich method where a carbon steel cover is applied on the WC powder present in the groove of 1.5 mm depth ant 3 mm width in the carbon steel sheet and the friction stir processing was applied to the sandwich using WC-Co tools. The cover was applied to prevent the loss of WC particles during processing. SEm and TEm observation showed that the number of passes and the reversing of the direction of rotation in the next passes significantly affected the homogeneity and the distribution of the WC powder in the matrix. moreover, crushing of WC powder to smaller ones was observed. WC fraction area analysis revealed the high density of WC distribution in the matrix. The hardness distribution showed that the surface modified hardness increased to about 700 HV at the mid depth of the surface modified sheet using WC powder compared with 400 and 500 HV at the deeper and shallower levels of depth respectively.

The Use of Hydrogen as a Fuel for Inland Waterway Units

Escalating apprehension about the harmful effects of widespread use of conventional fossil fuels in the marine field and in internal combustion engines in general, has led to a vast amount of efforts and the directing of large capital investment towards research and development of sustainable alternative energy sources. One of the most promising and abundant of these sources is hydrogen. Firstly, the use of current fossil fuels is. discussed focusing on the emissions and economic sides to emphasize the need for a new, cleaner and renewable fuel with particular reference to hydrogen as a suitable possible alternative. Hydrogen properties, production and storage methods are then reviewed along with its suitability from the economical point of view. Finally, a cost analysis for the use of hydrogen in internal combustion engines is carried out to illustrate the benefits of its use as a replacement for diesel. The outcome of this cost analysis shows that 98% of the capital expenditure is consumed by the equipment, and 68.3% of the total cost of the equipment is spent on the solar photovoltaic cells. The hydrogen plant is classified as a large investment project because of its high initial cost which is about 1 billion US$; but this is justified because hydrogen is produced in a totally green way. When hydrogen is used as a fuel, no harmful emissions are obtained.

Synthesis, Characterization and <i>In Vitro</i>Antitumor Evaluation of New Pyrazolo[3,4-d]Pyrimidine Derivatives

A new series of 3-(methylthio)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine derivatives was synthesized. The structures of the new derivatives were confirmed by the spectral data and elemental analyses. The antitumor activity of this series against human breast adenocarcinoma cell line mCF7 was evaluated. Out of twenty new derivatives, ten were revealed mild to moderate activity compared with doxorubicin as a reference antitumor. Among this new series N-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(3-(methylthio)-4-oxo-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-5(4H)-yl)acetamide (13a) was found the most active one with IC50 equal to 23 μm.

Ergogenic Capacity of a 7-Chinese Traditional medicine Extract in Aged mice

The ergogenic properties of a 7-Chinese traditional medicine water extract (Ligustrum lucidum ait, LLA), which is composed of the essences of Lycii fructus, Crataegi fructus, Phyllanthi fructus, Chrysanthemi flos, Coicis semen, Ganoderma lucidum, and Zizyphi fructus, were studied using aged mice. mice were chronically (one month) administered LLA (0.1% and 1%) in the drinking water. mice pre-treated with LLA showed a good appetite;however, they exhibited a lower rate of body weight increase compared to control mice. In mice subjected to the rotarod test, 1% LLA treatment provided effective adaption to fatigue and significantly increased the duration of mice on the rotarod. In locomotor activity test, 1% LLA potentiated mice mobility and significantly increased rearing behavior. In the antioxidant experiment, 1% LLA treatment significantly increased superoxide dismutase activity in the spleen and liver glutathione levels. These findings suggest that LLA may be utilized as an antifatigue agent, which may function through its antioxidant activity.

Corrosion measurements of Reinforcing Steel by Different Electrochemical Techniques

Electrochemical techniques of the corrosion measurements of reinforcing steeI in concrete have been evaluated. These techniques include half-cell potential measurements, impressed voltage method, impressed current method and potentiostatic polarization technique. The results of corrosion behaviour of the steel in both 5%NaCl and 5%mgSO4 show that each electrochemical technique provides some information about the condition of the steel bar or the corrosivity of the environment being evaluated, yet none provides a complete data regarding the corrosion resistance of reinforcing steel in aggressive media
