In forest modeling to estimate the volume of wood,artificial intelligence has been shown to be quite effi-cient,especially using artificial neural networks(ANNs).Here we tested whether diameter at breast height(DBH)and the total plant height(Ht)of eucalyptus can be pre-dicted at the stand level using spectral bands measured by an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)multispectral sensor and vegetation *** do so,using the data obtained by the UAV as input variables,we tested different configurations(number of hidden layers and number of neurons in each layer)of ANNs for predicting DBH and Ht at stand level for different Eucalyptus *** experimental design was randomized blocks with four replicates,with 20 trees in each experimental *** treatments comprised five Eucalyptus species(***,***,***,***-dis,and ***)and Corymbria *** and Ht for each plot at the stand level were measured seven times in separate overflights by the UAV,so that the multispectral sensor could obtain spectral bands to calculate vegetation indices(VIs).ANNs were then constructed using spectral bands and VIs as input layers,in addition to the categorical variable (species), to predict DBH and Ht at the stand level simultaneously. This report represents one of the first appli-cations of high-throughput phenotyping for plant size traits in Eucalyptus species. In general, ANNs containing three hidden layers gave better statistical performance (higher esti-mated r, lower estimated root mean squared error-RmSE) due to their greater capacity for self-learning. Among these ANNs, the best contained eight neurons in the first layer, seven in the second, and five in the third (8 − 7 − 5). The results reported here reveal the potential of using the gener-ated models to perform accurate forest inventories based on spectral bands and VIs obtained with a UAV multispectral sensor and ANNs, reducing labor and time.

AIm:To study the association between Interleukin-1(IL-1)and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αpolymorphisms,infection by Helicobacter pylori(H pylori)and the development of gastrointestinal ***:Genomic DNA was extracted from the peripheral blood of 177 patients with various gastrointestinal diseases and from 100 healthy *** polymorphisms in IL-1βand TNF-αgenes were analyzed using the polymerase chain reactionrestriction fragment length polymorphism method(PCRRFLP)and those from IL-1RN with *** presence of infection due to H pylori and the presence of the CagA toxin were detected by *** histopathological parameters in the gastric biopsies of the patients were according to the Sydney ***:A comparison of the frequencies of the different polymorphisms studied among the patients and the control group demonstrated that the allele IL1RN*2 was more frequent among patients with gastric ulcers and *** of the allele ILRN*2 and those with reactive serology for anti-CagA IgG had a greater risk of developing peptic ulcer and gastric adenocarcinoma,as well as a higher degree of inflammation and neutrophilic activity in the gastric ***:Our results indicate a positive association between IL-1RN gene polymorphism and infection by positive H pylori CagA strains and the development of gastric ulcers and adenocarcinoma.

BACKGROUND The evaluation of periportal fibrosis(PPF)is essential for a prognostic assessment of patients with Schistosomiasis *** WHO Niamey Protocol defines patterns of fibrosis from abdominal ultrasonography,^(1)H-nuclear magnetic resonance(NmR)-based metabonomics has been employed to assess liver fibrosis in some *** To build 1H-NmR-based metabonomics models(mm)to discriminate mild from significant periportal PPF and identify differences in the metabolite *** A prospective cross-sectional study was performed on schistosomiasis patients at a University Hospital in Northeastern *** evaluated 41 serum samples from 10 patients with mild PPF(C Niamey pattern)and 31 patients with significant PPF(D/E/F Niamey patterns).mm were built using partial least squares-discriminant analysis(PLS-DA)and orthogonal projections to latent structures discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA)*** PLS-DA and OPLS-DA resulted in discrimination between mild and significant PPF groups with R2 and Q2 values of 0.80 and 0.38 and 0.72 and 0.42 for each model,*** OPLS-DA model presented accuracy,sensitivity,and specificity values of 92.7%,90.3%,and 100%to discriminate significant *** metabolites identified as responsible by discrimination were:Nacetylglucosamines,alanine,glycolaldehyde,carbohydrates,and *** mms discriminated mild from significant PPF patterns in patients with Schistosomiasis mansoni through identification of differences in serum metabolites profiles.

Drought stress is major abiotic stress that affects soybean ***,it is widely desirable that soybean becomes more tolerant to *** provide insights into regulatory mechanisms of the stress response,we compared the global gene expression profiles from leaves of two soybean genotypes that display different responses to water-deficit(BR 16 and Embrapa 48,drought-sensitive and droughttolerant,respectively).After the RNA-seq analysis,a total of 5335 down-regulated and 3170 up-regulated genes were identified in the *** the other hand,the number of genes differentially expressed was markedly lower in the Embrapa 48,355 up-regulated and 471 down-regulated ***,induction and expression of protein kinases and transcription factors indicated signaling cascades involved in the drought ***,the results suggest that the metabolism of pectin is differently modulated in response to drought stress and may play a role in the soybean defense mechanism against *** occurs via an increase of the cell wall plasticity and crosslink,which contributed to a higher hydraulic conductance(Kf)and relative water content(RWC%).The drought-tolerance mechanism of the Embrapa 48 genotype involves remodeling of the cell wall and increase of the hydraulic conductance to the maintenance of cell turgor and metabolic processes,resulting in the highest leaf RWC,photosynthetic rate(A),transpiration(E)and carboxylation(A/Ci).Thus,we concluded that the cell wall adjustment under drought is important for a more efficient water use which promoted a more active photosynthetic metabolism,maintaining higher plant growth under drought stress.

In this study,the original tourmaline and beryl mineral samples have been collected from a Brazilian *** objective of this study was to examine the adsorption behavior of Brazilian ciclosilicate samples,towards divalent metals(Pb 2+,mn 2+,and Zn 2+) in ethanol solution has been studies by a batch *** ciclosilicate samples were characterized by elemental analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,helium picnometry,mercury porosity,and nitrogen *** Langmuir expression for adsorption isotherm was applied in order to determine the adsorption capacity to form a monolayer and the constant related to the adsorption *** aqueous solution there was a significant adsorption increase with the temperature and pronounced synergistic effects were *** maximum number of moles adsorbed was determined to be 12.48 and 11.49 mmol/g for systems Pb 2+ /beryl and Pb 2+ /tourmaline,*** energetic effects caused by metal cations adsorption were determined through calorimetric *** indicated the existence of favorable conditions for such Pb 2+-,mn 2+-,and Zn 2+-OH interactions.
