Transport mechanism in chemically reactive hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic micro-organisms over a curved oscillatory surface

This paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. The influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. To depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAm).The effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the Schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the Schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

An overview of hydrodynamic problems related to the broad variety of ships and sea structures involved in transportation, oil and gas exploration and production, marine operations, recovery of oil-spill, renewable energy, infrastructure and aquaculture is given. An approximate hydroelastic model for wave and current induced response of a floating fish farm with circular plastic collar and net cage is discussed. Weakly nonlinear potential-flow problems such as slow-drift motions and stationkeeping, springing of ships and ringing are given special attention. Body-fixed coordinate system is recommended in weakly nonlinear potential-flow analysis of bodies with sharp corners. Dynamic ship instabilities, mathieu-type instabilities, chaos and two-phase flow involving interface instabilities are discussed. It is advocated that slamming must be coupled with structural mechanics in order to find important time scales of the many physical effects associated with slamming and that both water entry and exit matter in describing the global wetdeck slamming effects. Further, sloshing-induced slamming in prismatic LNG tanks is perhaps the most complicated slamming problem because many fluid mechanic and thermodynamic parameters as well as hydroelasticity may matter.

Are we ready for telemonitoring inflammatory bowel disease?A review of advances,enablers,and barriers

This review summarizes the evidence about telemonitoring in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). To give an overview of the advances performed, as well as the enablers and barriers which favoured/hindered telemonitoring implementation. We performed a literature search in Pub med, EmBASE, mEDLINE, Cochrane Database, Web of Science and Conference Proceedings. Titles and abstracts published up to September 2022 were screened for a set of inclusion criteria: telemonitoring intervention, IBD as the main disease, and a primary study performed. Ninety-seven reports were selected for full review. Finally, 20 were included for data extraction and critical appraisal. most studies used telemonitoring combined with tele-education, and programs evolved from home telemanagement systems towards web portals through m Health applications. Web systems demonstrated patients’ acceptance, improvement in quality of life, disease activity and knowledge, with a good cost-effectiveness profile in the short-term. Initially, telemonitoring was almost restricted to ulcerative colitis, but new patient reported outcome measures, home-based tests and mobile devices favoured its expansion to different patients’ categories. However, technological and knowledge advances led to legal, ethical, economical and logistic issues. Standardization of remote healthcare is necessary, to improve the interoperability of systems as well as to address liability concerns and users’ preferences. Telemonitoring IBD is well accepted and improves clinical outcomes at a lower cost in the short-term. Funders, policymakers, providers, and patients need to align their interests to overcome the emerging barriers for its full implementation.

Background:The European rabbit(oryctolagus cuniculus L.1758)was introduced into different regions of the world,generating significant trade‑offs that critically impacted native ***,we evaluate the rabbit’s forage intakes in three vegetation types(forests,shrublands,and grasslands)along the four seasons in a temperate forest landscape in Southern Patagonia and discuss the potential threats over native *** formulated the following questions:(i)what is the forage offer at each vegetation type?(ii)what is the rabbit’s forage intake and how it varied across the seasons along the year?and(iii)which vegetation types and plant life forms were more used according to the rabbit’s forage intakes?methods:We censused understory vegetation to characterize the forage offer at each vegetation type and determined seasonal dietary intakes using microhistological analysis of *** plant species identified in the field were grouped according to life form classes(tree regeneration,shrubs,forbs,graminoids,orchids,ferns,bryophytes,and hemiparasites).Data were analysed through uni‑and multi‑variate analyses,determining relationships between forage offer and the rabbit’s forage ***:Forage intakes revealed changes in plant life form consumption across vegetation types,where intake pressure was considerably different for tree regeneration(p=0.001),graminoids(p=0.001),and hemiparasites(p=0.001).Besides,significant changes in consumption among seasons were detected for shrubs(p=0.001),ferns(p=0.030),and hemiparasites(p=0.002).Although many species play an important role in the rabbit’s forage intake networks(e.g.,Chiliotrichum diffusum,Holcus lanatus),the strongest intake linkages were found in exotic grasses(e.g.,Poa pratensis and Festuca sp.),native hemiparasites(e.g.,misodendrum sp.),native shrubs(e.g.,Empetrum rubrum),and native trees(e.g.,Nothofagus sp.).The summer and autumn seasons presented higher intake compared to the winter and spring seasons.F

Roles of Ubiquitination in the Control of Phosphate Starvation Responses in Plants

Throughout evolution, plants have evolved sophisticated adaptive responses that allow them to grow with a limited supply of phos-phate, the preferential form in which the essential macronutrient phosphorus is absorbed by plants. most of these responses are aimed to increase phosphate availability and acquisition through the roots, to optimize its usage in metabolic processes, and to protect plants from the deleterious effects of phosphate deficiency stress. Regulation of these adaptive responses requires fine percep- tion of the external and internal phosphate levels, and a complex signal transduction pathway that integrates information on the phosphate status at the whole-plant scale. The molecular mecha-nisms that participate in phosphate homeostasis include transcriptional control of gene expression, RNA silencing mediated by microRNAs, regulatory non-coding RNAs of miRNA activity, phosphate transporter trafficking, and post-translational modification of proteins, such as phosphorylation, sumoylation and ubiquitination. Such a varied regulatory repertoire reflects the complexity intrinsic to phosphate surveying and signaling pathways. Here, we describe these regulatory mechanisms, emphasizing the increasing importance of ubiquitination in the control of phosphate starvation responses.

Introduction/objectives: As Tattoo is being more accepted, more professionals dedicate to it. A study was designed with the aim of analysing the perception of Tattoo Artists regarding their occupational Health/Safety team (opinion about the support provided);as to find out what type accidents, symptoms and occupational diseases they have, in order to provide a better service. methods: This is a mixed exploratory study, containing a quantitative observational (analytical, cross-sectional) and a qualitative component (Case Study). For the statistical analysis, predominantly non-parametric tests were used. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee and informed consent was obtained. Results: In terms of symptomatology/illnesses, musculoskeletal pathology is the most reported. In terms of accidents, cuts stand out. Several statistically significant relationships were found between the variables analysed. Discussion/Conclusions: The occupational Health and Security services are considered insufficient by most of the Tattoo artists. It would be desirable that the occupational Doctor has concrete knowledge regarding Tattooing, in particular semiology/pathology;makes recommendations in pharmacology and/or indicates which exams could be useful. In relation to the Safety Technician, it would be desirable also to have specific knowledge about the sector, making plausible suggestions for improvement.

Science on the Development of Standards and Their Compliance in a Representative Sample of Portuguese Tattoo Artists

Introduction: The number of Tattoo artists has been increasing and there are important occupational Risks associated. The aim of this article was to describe the position of these professionals regarding the Recommendations and to analyze their compliance when working alone or accompanied. methodology: It is a mixed Exploratory Study, involving a quantitative component (observational Analytical of transversal nature), operated through an online survey and, in a second phase, a qualitative one (Case Study), through the use of interviews. A representative sample of the population under study was obtained, considering a 90% confidence interval. The research project was approved by a Ethics Committee and informed consent was obtained. Presentation and Discussion of the Results: The sample considered 207 questionnaires and nine interviews. The compliance with Standards increases with experience;those who reported that they do not always comply are those who use less the Personal Protective Equipment (t = 2.659;p = 0.008). Compliance is also influenced by the Perception of Risk, information, social pressure (more accentuated by CoVID19) and motivation to increase profit. Those who considered the Recommendations to be adequate were statistically associated with compliance with Collective Protection measures. Regarding the compliance when working alone or not, 86.0% stated that they maintained the same posture;of those who answered the opposite, 85.7% complied more alone. Those with less education were statistically associated to less compliance with the rules when alone (X2 = 12.763;p = 0.005). Final Considerations: Previously unpublished data has been obtained, valuable to act effectively in this professional sector. It is fundamental to invest in training, as well as to elaborate Standards (developed jointly by Doctors/Safety Technicians and Tattoo artists). Protection measures and Change in the Perception of Work Risks with CoVID-19, in a Representative Sample of Portuguese Tattoo Artists

Introduction: Tattoo Artists are exposed to occupational Hazards, but the bibliography is scarce. methodology: this is a mixed Exploratory Study carried out with a quantitative component (online questionnaire) and a qualitative component (online interview). The questionnaire was available between April 2020 and march 2021 and was distributed by the companies/professionals that work on Tattoos, main national magazines in the sector, companies that supply products and equipment and organizing committees of the main national congresses. The research project was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (28.04.2020) and an informed consent was obtained. As an inclusion criterion, it was considered to carry out tattooing tasks on a paid basis. As exclusion criteria, working outside the country or not mastering the Portuguese language stood out. Results: 207 Tattoo Artists answered the questionnaire (25.87% of professionals registered in Portugal) and nine interviews took place. Numerous statistically significant associations were found between the variables analysed. Final considerations: the main weaknesses of the study are related to the difficulties inherent in data collection: as it was carried out using an online questionnaire, it was not controlled whether all respondents practiced the profession of Tattoo Artists. Furthermore, as it is a voluntary questionnaire, it is possible that the sample retained professionals who value occupational Health issues. This investigation combined quantitative and qualitative techniques, so that it was possible to take advantage of and mitigate the disadvantages of both;in fact, the qualitative aspect sequentially completed and explored the data initially obtained in the survey, as well as it allowed to deepen issues initially not programmed, such as the possible interference of the Pandemic associated with SARS-CoV2 in the general Risk Perception and compliance with the Standards of Good Pr
