Climate change is likely to increase the occurrence of floods and flashfloods that affect Santiago de Chile＇s drinking water supply system throughout the 21st century. A relationship between flashfloods in the maipo River--Santiago＇s main raw water source, drainage area in the maipo Alto Sub Basin and precipitation 48 hours previous to the event was found. Despite having legal guide- lines to guarantee continuity and stability in water supply, Chilean law does not specify the maximum admissible magnitude of an event. A 12% drop of average monthly flow at maipo en E1 manzano Station was estimated for the 2035-2065 period due to cli- mate change, meaning water suppliers would not be able to meet 90% monthly water supply security, required by Chilean law. Water suppliers would need to increase their current allotted quota of the maipo River, from 24.5% to a percentage between 26% and 30% to comply. If the 0 ~C isotherm keeps increasing its elevation through the 21st century, more intense floods could occur because of additional drainage area granted by the elevation of the snow line, even if precipitation does not suffer a significant change. In order to withstand a five day turbidity event, 2 m3/s of groundwater, or any non river source, should be temporarily in- coroorated to the emergency dfinkin~ water production.

Economic Dispatch Considering Hourly Capacity Allocation with a Variable Renewable and Hydro-Based Generation Portfolio

The objective of this paper is to assess an economic dispatch considering a power system portfolio, which includes predominant amount of hydro power and increasing quantities of intermittent renewables in relation to the total electric capacity. With growing importance of intermittent wind and solar generation taking part into power systems worldwide, there is need for greater chronological resolution to estimate the flexibility of the power system to offer firm capacity. In this way, a linear optimization model operating hourly is developed to calculate the minimum power system cost, while stablishing the capacity allocation to meet the projected load throughout one-year simulation, as an estimation of how the hourly economic dispatch impacts the scheduling of generators belonging to a power system with this portfolio composition. A central focus is how to operate the available hydro capacity to back up intermittent renewables, evaluating the physical hydro operating constraints, monthly energy balance and maximum power availability. A case study was simulated based on the Brazil’s power system configuration, showing that existing hydro capacity provide hourly flexibility to back-up intermittent renewables, potentially saving 1.2 Billion R$, about 3.6% of total system cost referred to 2019. It is worthwhile to realize that the developed methodology can be employed to other power systems with similar capacity portfolio structure for the purpose of calculating its optimum allocation for a specified region and target year.

Since the beginning of the pandemic caused by the new Coronavirus (SARS- CoV-2), critically ill patients care has been challenging. It is necessary to perform the best available practice and protect the health team, preserving human resources and rationalizing costs. Changes in tracheostomies institutional protocols are necessary according to each health care services reality. This is particular important in developing countries. The aim of this study is to establish a practical and sucint guideline to minimize controversies regarding the proper timing to perform elective tracheostomies in critically ill coronavirus infected patients.

The armadillo repeat super-family proteins (ARm repeat super-family proteins) possess tandem armadillo repeats and have been postulated to play different roles in plant development, morphogenesis, defense, cell death, and signal transduction through hormone signalling. In The Arabidopsis Information Resource (TAIR), we found 113 loci closely related to ARm repeat family proteins. This extensive group of proteins was studied in flowers tissues by western blot using antibodies directed against the most conserved region of the ARm repeat family proteins. The amino acid residues sequences from TAIR were aligned and the resulting phylogenetic tree allows us to inferring their evolutionary relationships. The main finding was the high similarity between the gene product of PUB16 (At5g01830, A. thaliana) and ARC1 (Brassica napus). In order to search a possible role for PUB16 we carried out stress bioassays using hormonal and saline approaches. Gene expression using RT-PCR showed that some of the ARm repeat super-family proteins are expressed both under salt or hormonal stress conditions. Particularly these studies allowed to detect and semi-quantify PUB16 gene expression in normal or stress growth conditions. In this approach it was revealed that, only in presence of GA, the expression of mRNA-PUB16 became evident. To morphologically verify the increasing number of germinated pollen grain in gibberellins treated flowers, we used epi-fluorescence microscopy assay. These results suggest that PUB16 may participate in GA signaling pathway favoring self-pollination.

哥伦比亚因1983年发现了大油田卡纽李蒙油田而成为原油自给国家。其可采原油超过10×108bbl，根据出版的的资料，一半多的储量已被开采。兰前日产油21．5×104bbl。合理的油藏和开发管理有望使最终采收率达到红58％。当前含水率已达80％，因此，大量的淡水（＞10×105bbl／d）需要处理，同时要求最小程度地影响到环境。油田遵守严格的环境规则．出色地完成了处理采出水的工作。采收率高是因为采用了下述技术：油藏管理技术过去常用于确定新井位和有策略地选择完井和再次完井层段，其主要手段有：①利用广泛使用的三维仿真模型；②根据生产测井、单井压力测试和多井干扰试井资料，利用已编制好的油藏监测程序；经验可知，利用举升大流量的先进电潜泵（ESPS）和变速传动装置，每口井日产液可高达2．2×104bbl，出砂在0～200ppm之间。这样，可维持油的高产，尽管油田水驱活跃使含水率高，仍可取得最大产油量。能很好地用Y型工具进行电潜泵完井。就能够对油藏进行监测。
