In crop plants, various environmental stresses affect the balance of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus(C:N:P), leading to biochemical and physiological alterations and reductions in yield. Silicon(Si) is a beneficial element that alleviates plant stress. Most studies involving silicon have focused on physiological responses, such as improvements in photosynthetic processes, water use efficiency, and antioxidant defense systems. But recent research suggests that stressed plants facing either limited or excessive resources(water, light, nutrients, and toxic elements), strategically employ Si to maintain C:N:P homeostasis, thereby minimizing biomass losses. Understanding the role of Si in mitigating the impact of abiotic stresses on plants by regulating C:N:P homeostasis holds great potential for advancing sustainable agricultural practices in crop production. This review presents recent advances in characterizing the influence of environmental stresses on C:N:P homeostasis, as well as the role of Si in preserving C:N:P equilibrium and attenuating biological damage associated with abiotic stress. It underscores the beneficial effects of Si in sustaining C:N:P homeostasis and increasing yield via improved nutritional efficiency and stress mitigation.

Since 2014,"Bring Your Own Data"workshops(BYODs)have been organised to inform people about the process and benefits of making resources Findable,Accessible,Interoperable,and Reusable(FAIR,and the FAIRification process).The BYOD workshops'content and format differ depending on their goal,context,and the background and needs of ***-focused BYODs educate domain experts on how to make their data FAIR to find new answers to research ***-focused BYODs promote the benefits of making data FAIR and instruct proj.ct managers and policy-makers on the characteristics of FAIRification ***-focused BYODs gather software developers and experts on FAIR to implement or improve software resources that are used to support ***,these BYODs intend to foster collaboration between different types of stakeholders involved in data management,curation,and reuse(*** experts,trainers,developers,data owners,data analysts,FAIR experts).The BYODs also serve as an opportunity to learn what kind of support for FAIRification is needed from different communities and to develop teaching materials based on practical examples and *** this paper,we detail the three different structures of the BYODs and describe examples of early BYODs related to plant breeding data,and rare disease registries and biobanks,which have shaped the structure of the *** discuss the latest insights into making BYODs more productive by leveraging our almost ten years of training experience in these workshops,including successes and encountered ***,we examine how the participants'feedback has motivated the research on FAIR,including the development of workflows and software.

An unsupervised machine-learning workflow is proposed for estimating fractional landscape soils and vegetation components from remotely sensed hyperspectral *** workflow is applied to EO-1 Hyperion satellite imagery collected near Ibirací,Minas Gerais,*** proposed workflow includes subset feature selection,learning,and estimation *** training with landscape feature class realizations provide a hypersurface from which to estimate mixtures of soil(e.g.0.5 exceedance for pixels:75%clay-rich Nitisols,15%iron-rich Latosols,and 1%quartz-rich Arenosols)and vegetation(e.g.0.5 exceedance for pixels:4%Aspen-like trees,7%Blackberry-like trees,0%live grass,and 2%dead grass).The process correctly maps forests and iron-rich Latosols as being coincident with existing drainages,and correctly classifies the clay-rich Nitisols and grasses on the intervening *** classifications are independently corroborated visually(Google Earth)and quantitatively(random soil samples and crossplots of field spectra).Some mapping challenges are the underestimation of forest fractions and overestimation of soil fractions where steep valley shadows exist,and the under representation of classified grass in some dry areas of the Hyperion *** preliminary results provide impetus for future hyperspectral studies involving airborne and satellite sensors with higher signal-to-noise and smaller footprints.

In this paper, we study the large time behavior of solutions of the parabolic semilinear equation δtu-div（a（x）△↓u） = -｜u｜^αu in （0,∞） × R^N, where α 〉 0 is constant and a∈ Cb^1（R^N） is a symmetric periodic matrix satisfying some ellipticity *** an integrable initial data u0 and α ∈ （2/N, 3/N）, we prove that the large time behavior of solutions is given by the solution U（t, x） of the homogenized linear problem δtU-div（a^h△↓U）=0,U（0） = C, where a^h is the homogenized matrix of a（x）, C is a positive constant and δ is the Dirac measure at 0.

There are two species of filarial parasites with sheathless microfilariae known to commonly cause parasitaemias in humans:Mansonella perstans and Mtinsonella *** most contemporary accounts of the distribution of these parasites,neither is usually considered to occur anywhere in the Eastern ***,Sir Patrick Manson,who first described both parasite species,recorded the existence of sheathless sharp-tailed Mansonella ozzardilike parasites occurring in the blood of natives from New Guinea in each and every version of his manual for tropical disease that he wrote before his death in ***'s reports were based on his own identifications and were made from at least two independent blood sample collections that were taken from the *** region Mansonella perstans parasitaemias were also later(in 1923) reported to occur in New Guinea and once before this(in 1905) in *** Mansonella-parasilaernias are generally regarded as benign,they are thought to be of public health importance because they can affect the epidemiological monitoring of other filarial *** this article,we reviewed the historic literature concerning Pacific-origin Mansonella-parasitaemias in an attempt to explain how,despite repeated reports of Pacificregion Mansonella-parasilaemias,by as early as the 1970 s,the WHO had arrived at the presentday view that Wuchereria bancrofti is the only cause of filarial parasitaemias in Papua New *** have also evaluated the evidence supporting the contemporary existence of Pacificarea parasitaemia-causing Mansonella parasites and assessed the relevance such parasites could have for present-day lymphatic filariasis elimination efforts in the region.

Wind energy can be considered a push-driver factor in the integration of renewable energy sources within the concept of smart *** its full deployment,it requires a modern telecommunication infrastructure for transmitting control signals around the distributed generation,in which,the wireless communication standards stand out for employing modern digital modulation and coding schemes for error correction,in order to guarantee the power plant *** some developing countries,such as Brazil,the high penetration of commercial mobile wireless standards GPRS and EGPRS(based on GSM technology)have captivated the interests of the energy sector,and they now seek to perform remote monitoring and control *** this context,this article presents a comparative performance analysis of a wireless control system for a wind SRG,when a GPRS or EGPRS data service is *** system performance is analyzed by co-simulations,including the wind generator dynamics and the wireless channel *** satisfactory results endorse the viability and robustness of the proposed system.

Portal vein thrombosis is a common complica- tion in cirrhotic patients. When portal vein thrombectomy is not a suitable option, a large collateral vessel can be used for allograft venous inflow reconstruction. We describe an unusu- al case of successful portal revascularization using the right gastroepiploic vein. The patient underwent a cadaveric or- thotropic liver transplantation with end-to-end anastomosis of the portal vein to the right gastroepiploic vein. Six months after liver transplantation the patient is well with good liver function. The use of the right gastroepiploic vein for allograft venous reconstruction is feasible and safe, with a great advan- tage of avoiding the need of venous j.mp graft.

BACKGROUND:To physiologically reconstruct the biliary tract,Crema et al suggested the application of the Monti principle to the biliary tract,already used in humans for the urinary *** this technique,a j.j.nal segment is transversely *** study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of j.j.nal tube interposition between the common bile duct and duodenum in ***:Thirteen dogs underwent a laparoscopic common bile duct ligature,followed by a biliodigestive connection by j.j.nal tube interposition after one *** levels of glutamic-pyruvic and glutamic-oxalacetic transaminases,total bilirubins,alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyltransferase were assessed before surgery and thereafter weekly until euthanasia,which was performed 6 weeks after biliodigestive ***:Data on 9 dogs were analyzed *** dogs presented with obstructive j.undice after common bile duct ligature,as confirmed by biochemical *** showed a statistically significant reduction in cholestasis after biliodigestive connection by j.j.nal tube interposition and were healthy until the end of the ***:A statistically significant reduction was seen in total bilirubin and canalicular enzymes(alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyltransferase)in the 9 dogs 6 weeks after biliodigestive connetion by j.j.nal tube interposition.
