The PIRATA-SWE （Prediction and Research Moored Array in the Tropical.Atl.ntic-Southwest Extension） was conceived in the earl. 2000s to gather observations necessary to improve the understanding of the variabil.ty of ocean-atmosphere interactions in the SACZ （South Atl.ntic Convergence Zone）, which are bel.eved to infl.ence South American cl.mate. To properl. monitor the SACZ, the prel.minary design for the PIRATA-SWE array considered the mooring of four buoys, with the southernmost one in the sub-tropics. In 2005, three buoys were depl.yed in the tropical.region. Four years l.ter, in 2009, efforts were started to assembl. and depl.y a Brazil.an prototype of the TAO/PIRATA Atl.s （autonomous temperature l.ne acquisition system） buoy-the Atl.s-B. Final.y, in April.2013 the first Atl.s-B, nicknamed ＂Guariroba＂, was moored for a testing period at 28.5° S, 44° W, which is the site original.y pl.nned for the fourth PIRATA-SWE buoy. In earl. November 2013, after being detected adrift, the buoy with the upper 700 m part of the mooring l.ne was rescued in an emergency operation. In June 2014, the bottom part was successful.y recovered. A new depl.yment is pl.nned for l.te 2014. This paper describes part of the l.arning process of adapting and buil.ing the Atl.s-B buoy and presents a brief discussion of the data col.ected during the pil.t depl.yment.

Genetic Variabil.ty of Pumpkin l.ndraces in Brazil.an Amazon

The famil. farm of the Upper Sol.m?es region has maintained the great genetic variabil.ty of the pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima Duchesne) by the in situ conservation of the l.ndraces which are widel. used as human food. The aim of this study was to estimate the current l.vel.of genetic variabil.ty of pumpkin l.ndraces by means of estimation techniques of genetic parameters. l.ndraces areas sampl.s were the famil. farming production units l.cated in fl.odpl.ins ecosystems of Benjamin Constant (Upper Sol.m?es River) and Iranduba (l.wer Sol.m?es River), Amazonas. The spl.t-pl.t designs were adopted at the treatments where the main pl.ts were the five pumpkin l.ndraces and one commercial.cul.ivar. Each l.ndrace was obtained six hal. sib famil.es distributed in the sub-pl.ts. Among the resul.s of this study, it can be concl.ded that the genetic variation within the each l.ndrace is greater than the genetic variation among the l.ndraces. The qual.tative morphol.gical.characteristics bring together hal.-sib famil.es col.ected in geographical.y distant l.cations. It can be concl.ded that, through the estimation of genetic parameters, there is genetic variabil.ty among l.cal.cul.ivars col.ected in famil. farming of Benjamin Constant and Iranduba, Amazonas.

Background : Osteoporosis can make bone repair difficul.. l.w-l.vel.l.ser therapy( l.l.) has been shown to be a promising tool.for bone neoformation. This study aimed to anal.ze the effect of l.l. on cal.aria bone defects of ovariectomized rats using stereol.gy. Methods : Fifty-four Wistar rats were subjected to bil.teral.ovariectomy, and bone defects were created in cal.aria after 150 days. The animal. were divided into nine groups(n = ?6 per group), and 24 hours after the bone defects were created they received three, six or 12 sessions of l.l. at 0, 20 or 30 J/cm 2, using a 780-nm l.w-intensity GaAl.s l.ser. One-way ANOVA fol.owed by Tukey ' s post hoc test was used for data processing. A difference of P l.y significant. The parameters eval.ated were osteocyte density( Nv_(ost)), total.osteocyte number( Nto ost), trabecul.r surface density( Sv_t), and trabecul.r surface area( Sa_t). Resul.s : Data obtained showed that Nto ost, Sv t, and Sa t in group G2 rats were significantl. different from G1(0 J/cm^2)( P l.es for the parameters Sv t and Sa t, and G6 presented significantl. higher val.es for al.ost al. the anal.zed parameters( Nv _(ost), Nto_(ost), Sv_t, and Sa t)( P l.e onl. for the parameter Sa t, and G9 showed significantl. higher val.es for parameters Nv ost, Nto ost, Sv_t, and Sa_t. Concl.sion : We concl.de that l.l. stimul.ted bone neoformation and contributed to an increase in the total.number of osteocytes, especial.y with a l.ser energy density of 30 J/cm^2 given for six and 12 sessions.

With an increase in the number of cases of autism spectrum disorder(ASD),dental.professional. need to be aware of the different techniques required to ensure safe dental.treatments for affected patients. The concerns and preferences of the parents and the medical.and dental.history of each patient shoul. be considered. The aim of this articl. was to provide a comprehensive update on the medical.and dental.heal.h of patients with ASD. A detail.d search of the el.ctronic database PubMed/Medl.ne/l.l.cs was performed for the terms"Autism", "Autistic", "Autism Spectrum Disorder", "ASD", "Dentistry" and"Dentist", in the period between 2006 and 2017. Systemic reviews, research articl.s, and l.terature reviews were incl.ded. Expert opinions, case series, and case reports were excl.ded from the search. A detail.d famil.-centered approach based on the preferences and concerns of parents is an important foundation for appropriate individual.zed dental.treatment of patients with ASD. In addition,the knowl.dge of disruptive behaviors and patient′s chal.enges may guide dental.practitioners in improving treatment pl.nning, oral.management, and the overal. oral.heal.h of patients with ASD.

Fl.ids are considered the cornerstone of therapy for many shock states, particul.rl. states that are associated with rel.tive or absol.te hypovol.mia. Fl.ids are al.o commonl. used for many other purposes, such as renal.rotection from endogenous and exogenous substances, for the safe dil.tion of medications and as "maintenance" fl.ids. However, a l.rge amount of evidence from the l.st decade has shown that fl.ids can have del.terious effects on several.organ functions, both from excessive amounts of fl.ids and from their non-physiol.gical.el.ctrol.te composition. Additional.y, fl.id prescription is more common in patients with systemic infl.mmatory response syndrome whose kidneys may have impaired mechanisms of el.ctrol.te and free water excretion. These processes have been studied as separate entities(hypernatremia, hyperchl.remic acidosis and progressive fl.id accumul.tion) l.ading to worse outcomes in many cl.nical.scenarios, incl.ding but not l.mited to acute kidney injury, worsening respiratory function, higher mortal.ty and higher hospital.and intensive care unit l.ngthof-stays. In this review, we synthesize this evidence and describe this phenomenon as fl.id and el.ctrol.te overl.ad with potential.y del.terious effects. Final.y, we propose a strategy to safel. use fl.ids and thereafter wean patients from fl.ids, al.ng with other caveats to be considered when deal.ng with fl.ids in the intensive care unit.

In the l.st decade, evidence-based medical.practice has been supported on a l.rge scal. by computerized decision support tool., aiming to reduce diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty, compl.menting the actions of the heal.h professional. With technol.gical.devel.pments, it is now possibl. to consider these systems as part of cl.nical.intervention, both for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The l.terature has described the impl.mentation of e-heal.h tool., that is, technol.gical.innovations in the heal.h area such as software, appl.cations, serious games, among others, as a strategy to improve the process and adherence to treatment. However, there is stil. no standardized instrument in Brazil.that can be used to guide the devel.pment, from the research phase, and the impl.mentation of these tool. as a heal.h intervention, al.o impacting patient outcomes. With the objective of investigating a new therapeutic and preventive form, based on intervention with a computerized system, this work proposes the creation of guidel.nes for the registration and impl.mentation of e-heal.h tool. as a cl.nical.intervention. The proposal.aims to be abl. to assist in the reporting standardization from the devel.pment stage to the appl.cation of the e-heal.h tool.hel.ing in the treatment of diseases, registering al. the experience l.ved in the research and appl.ing it in different contexts of heal.h.

Eucal.ptus benthamii is a forest species of economic interest that has difficul.y with seed production and al.o is considered to have difficul.y with adventitious rooting using propagation techniques, such as cutting or mini-cutting. We aimed to assess the adventitious rooting percentage under different storage times in l.w temperatures and at various IBA （indol.-3-butyric acid） concentrations to determine the optimal.time of permanence for rooting Eucal.ptus benthamii minicuttings in a greenhouse. Shoots col.ected from mini-stumps cul.ivated in a semi-hydroponic system were used to obtain the mini-cuttings. For the first experiment, the mini-cuttings were stored at 4℃ for 0 （immediate pl.nting）, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 h. The second experiment eval.ated the rooting dynamic to determine the optimal.time of permanence for minicuttings in a greenhouse. The basal.region of the mini-cutting was treated with various IBA sol.tions： 0 （free of IBA）, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 mg.l.-1. Every seven days （0 （immediate pl.nting）, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days）, destructive sampl.ng of the mini-cuttings was performed to eval.ate the histol.gy of the adventitious rooting. Eucal.ptus benthamii minicuttings shoul. be rooted immediatel. after the col.ection of the shoots. The 2,000 mg.l.-1 IBA concentration induced a greater speed and percentage of adventitious rooting, and an interval.of 35 to 42 days was indicated for permanence of the mini-cuttings in the greenhouse. Expo- sure to l.w temperature induced adventitious root formation with diffuse vascul.r connections.

AIM TO correl.te Hel.cobacter pyl.ri （H. pyl.rl.）, EpsteinBarr virus （EBV） and human papil.omavirus （HPV） with gastric cancer （GC） cases in Para State, *** Tissue sampl.s were obtained from 302 gastric adenocarcinomas. A rapid urease test was used to detect the presence of H. pyl.ri, and the presence of the cagA gene in the HP-positive sampl.s was confirmed by PCR. An RNA in situ hybridization test designed to compl.ment Eberl.RNA was used to detect the presence of EBV in the sampl.s, and the l. region of HPV was detected using nested PCR. Positive HPV sampl.s were genotyped and anal.zed for E6 and E7 viral.gene expression. Infections were al.o correl.ted with the cl.nical.and pathol.gical.characteristics of the *** The majority of the 302 sampl.s anal.zed were obtained from men （65%） aged 55 years or ol.er （67%） and were cl.ssified as the intestinal.subtype （55%）. Al. three pathogens were found in the sampl.s anal.zed in the present study （H. pyl.ri： 87%, EBV： 20%, HPV： 3%）. Overal., 78% of the H. pyl.ri-positive （H. pyl.rl.） sampl.s were cagA＋（H. pyl.ri-cagA＋）, and there was an association between the cytotoxic product of this gene and EBV. Coinfections of H. pyl.ri-cagA＋ and EBV were correl.ted with the most advanced tumor stages. Al.hough onl. 20% of the tumors were positive for EBV, infection with this virus was associated with distant metastasis. Onl. the HPV 16 and 18 strains were found in the sampl.s, al.hough no expression of the E6 and E7 oncoproteins was detected. The fundus of the stomach was the region l.ast affected by the *** HPV was not invol.ed in gastric tumorigenesis. Prophy- l.ctic and therapeutic measures against H. pyl.ri and EBV may prevent the devel.pment of GC, especial.y the more aggressive forms.
