Acellular amniotic membrane (AAM) is a biodegradable and biocompatible natural that has a wide range of applications in the field of pharmaceutics, biomedical, chemical and cosmetics industry. One of the most interesting characteristics of AAM is its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, anti-fibrosis activity is an attractive approach for treating inflammatory disorders, wounds, and burns. The isolated use of AAM may not be sufficient to produce an adequate anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect to fulfill different purposes, has attracted considerable attention that has similar properties to the native tissues. This mini-review offers a focuses on modern aspects of the biomaterials, growth factors, biocompatibility, and acellular matrix which are the basic elements for use in the tissue regeneration and replacement after an injury.

Cancer is a global problem that in addition to physical, emotional and physiological causes economic and social impacts. The p53 gene is a tumor suppressor gene found in many malignant and benign tumors;this has the primary function of keeping cells at rest after damaging to DNA. The p53 acts in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis, mainly through autophagy, playing a role in cell cycle arrest, when necessary, thus avoiding mutated DNA replication. When in the oncogenic environment in many cases it is mutated, losing much of its efficiency allowing tumor development. Studies show that exercise can in the regular part of its pro-autophagic function even in the oncology setting. Stimuli of moderate-intensity aerobic and predominance of submaximal seem to trigger the protective function of p53 in various cancer settings. Among the many changes that these pathology triggers were the objective of this mini review is to relate the changes that exercise generates in p53 protein functions and their possible influence on tumor cells.

To achieve high crop yieldin agriculture, the production of plantlets of superior quality is one of thebasic prerequisites. For conilon coffee, the current recommendation in theproduction of clonal plantlets through vegetative propagation is to usediagonal cuttings, in bevel form. However, there are indications that othertypes of cutting have been successfully used to produce plantlets. In thiscontext, this experiment was conducted with the objective of studying thedevelopment of plantlets of conilon coffee obtained by different types ofcuttings. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse. The cuttings wereobtained from the middle portion of orthotropic stems of standardized *** experiment followed a split plot in time design, with three types ofcuttings (bevel, sharp bevel and straight) and two times of evaluation, withfour repetitions. At 30 and 120 days after planting, plantlets were collectedand evaluated. The results show the increase occurred in the variables due tothe straight cut when compared to the others, except for stem *** in this context, the straight cut promoted an increase in seedlingheight, production of biomass and in the Dickson’s quality index when comparedto cuttings in bevel and sharp bevel.

Competition between crops and weeds interfere on growth and development with harm to one or both, in different ways. To quantify these differences in competition, additive and replacement series study methods are most often used, each with different characteristics and goals. Therefore, we aimed with this work to study inter-specific competition between plants of soybean and corn against the weeds Bidens pilosa (beggartick) and Digitaria insularis (sourgrass), by two experimental methods of study: additive and replacement series (substitutive) experiments. Initial tests were performed prior to the installation of replacement series experiments to describe the intra-specific competition features for all species. For additive experiments these are unnecessary. To compare the methods of study, there were two sets of trials (an additive and a substitutive) installed under greenhouse, during the growing season 2013/14. Variables analyzed were leaf area and dry weight of shoots of crops and weeds, at 50 days after emergence. The results were analyzed according to the methods used, these being compared. It was found that the additive method supplied results most prone to be applied in the field, while the replacement series (substitutive) method was more appropriate for studies that aimed to provide detailed scientific information regarding the proportions of plants and coefficients describing the behavior of the species community.

AIM:To investigate pro-atherosclerotic markers(endothelial dysfunction and inflammation)in patients one year after liver ***:Forty-four consecutive liver transplant(LT)outpatients who were admitted between August2009 and July 2010,were followed-up by for 1 year,exhibited no evidences of infection or rejection,all of them underwent tacrolimus-based immunosuppressive regimens were consecutively *** cytokines(TNFα,IFNγ,IL-8,and IL-10),endothelial biomarkers(sVCAM-1,sICAM-1,MPO,adiponectin,PAI-1,SAP,SAA,E-selectin,and MMP-9),high sensitive C-reactive protein,and Framingham risk score(FRS)were *** anthropometric data,aminotransferases,metabolic syndrome features,glucose and lipid profiles,and insulin resistance data were also *** LT recipients were compared to 22 biopsy-proven non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)patients and 20healthy controls(non-obese,non-diabetics,and nondyslipidemic).RESULTS:The LT recipients had significantly younger ages and lower body mass indices,aminotransferases,fasting glucose and insulin levels,glucose homeostasis model and metabolic syndrome features than the NASH *** cardiovascular risk markers,such as Hs-CRP and FRS[2.0(1.0-8.75)],were lower in the LT patients compared to those observed in the NASH patients(P=0.009).In contrast,the LT recipients and NASH patients had similar inflammatory and endothelial serum markers compared to the controls(pg/mL):lower IL-10 levels(32.3 and 32.3 vs 62.5,respectively,P=0.019)and higher IFNγ(626.1 and 411.9 vs 67.9,respectively,P<0.001),E-selectin(48.5 and 90.03vs 35.7,respectively,P<0.001),sVCAM-1(1820.6and 1692.4 vs 1167.2,respectively,P<0.001),and sICAM-1(230.3 and 259.7 vs 152.9,respectively,P=0.015)***:Non-obese LT recipients have similar pro-atherosclerotic serum profiles after a short 1-year follow-up period compared to NASH patients,suggesting a high risk of atherosclerosis in this population.

The southern portion of the Sao francisco Palaeocontinent in Brazil is denoted by Archean nuclei and Paleoproterozoic magmatic arcs that were amalgamated during Siderian to Orosirian orogenic processes(ca.2.4-2.1 Ga).New isotopic U-Pb in zircon and Sm-Nd whole rock combined with major and trace element composition analyses constrain the crystallization history of the Neoarchean Piedade block(at ca.2.6 Ga)and the Paleoproterozoic Mantiqueira Complex(ca.2.1-1.9 Ga).These therefore display quite different magmatic histories prior to their amalgamation at ca.2.05 ***-Nd and Rb-Sr isotopes imply a mixed mantle-crustal origin for the samples in both units.A complete Palaeoproterozoic orogenic cycle,from subduction to collision and collapse,is recorded in the Piedade Block and the Mantiqueira *** to Orosirian subduction processes(ca.2.2-2.1 Ga)led to the generation of coeval(ca.2.16 Ga)TTG suites and sanukitoids,followed by late(2.10-2.02 Ga)high-K granitoids that mark the collisional *** collisional accretion of the Mantiqueira Complex against the Piedade Block at 2.08-2.04 Ga is also recorded by granulite facies metamorphism in the latter terrane,along the Ponte Nova suture *** collisional stage was closely followed by the emplacement of within-plate tholeiites at ca.2.04 Ga and by alkaline rocks(syenites and enriched basic rocks)at ca.1.98 Ga,marking the transition to an extensional tectonic *** discovery of two episodes of TTG and sanukitoid magmatism,one during the Neoarchean in the Piedade Complex and another during the Rhyacian in the Mantiqueira Complex,indicates that the onset of subduction-related melting of metasomatized mantle was not restricted to Neoarchean times,as generally believed,but persisted much later into the Paleoproterozoic.

Tomato production is influenced by shoot branching,which is controlled by different *** we produced tomato plants overexpressing the cytokinin-deactivating gene CYTOKININ OXYDASE 2(CKX2).CKX2-overexpressing(CKX2-OE)plants showed an excessive growth of axillary shoots,the opposite phenotype expected for plants with reduced cytokinin content,as evidenced by LC-MS analysis and ARR5-GUS *** TCP transcription factor SlBRC1b was downregulated in the axillary buds of CKX2-OE and its excessive branching was dependent on a functional version of the GRAS-family gene LATERAL SUPPRESSOR(LS).Grafting experiments indicated that increased branching in CKX2-OE plants is unlikely to be mediated by root-derived *** CKX2-OE plants with transgenic antisense plants for the strigolactone biosynthesis gene CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE(CCD7-AS)produced an additive phenotype,indicating independent effects of cytokinin and strigolactones on increased *** the other hand,CKX2-OE plants showed reduced polar auxin transport and their bud outgrowth was reduced when combined with auxin ***,CKX2-OE basal buds did not respond to auxin applied in the decapitated *** results suggest that tomato shoot branching depends on a fine-tuning of different hormonal balances and that perturbations in the auxin status could compensate for the reduced cytokinin levels in CKX2-OE plants.

了解在不同空间尺度上控制生物多样性分布的因素是保护工作面临的一个关键挑战。生物多样性,反映在不同地点物种组成的差异(β多样性),可以通过物种更替(周转率)获得,并受到多种因素的驱动。在本研究中,我们试图通过研究两个与受威胁的巴西季节性干旱森林相关的问题探讨:(I)物种周转对β多样性的贡献是什么?(II)哪些因素驱动了林块间物种组成的变化?我们在17个相隔近300公里的干燥森林斑块中对树种进行采样,以及采集环境变量(土壤和气候)。我们使用β多样性划分框架来确定周转率的贡献,采用冗余分析和适合的空间结构来评估环境和空间因素对物种组成变化的贡献。斑块间的β多样性主要以周转组分(98.2%)为代表,Simpson相异度优于国内其他地区(多位点和两两比较的平均值分别为0.89和0.71)。环境因子对物种组成变化的解释多于空间因素,占物种组成变化的30.3%,其中28.1%是非空间结构的。我们建议,300公里代表一个阈值,在这个阈值上,土壤和气候预测因子在决定群落周转方面具有相似的效应(在不考虑空间结构的情况下,分别为14.9%和12.6%)。因此,应该跨景观考虑保护策略,以有效地保护热带森林多样性,因为即使考虑到不同规模的气候差异,景观化的土壤种类也是物种周转的重要驱动因素。

Existing therapies for the treatment of chronic heart failure still have some limitations and there is a pressing need for the development of new therapeutic modalities. The amniotic membrane has been used for the treatment of various diseases, such as conjunctive defects;however, the mechanisms behind its repair functions are still unclear. Regenerative medicine is seeking newer alternatives and among them, biomaterials have emerged in recent years for developing and manipulating molecules, cells, tissues or organs grown in laboratories in order to replace human body parts. Many such materials have been used for this purpose, either synthetically or biologically, in order to provide new medical devices. This review provides a wider view of the regeneration potential of the use of amniotic membrane as a potential biomaterial to facilitate the implementation of new research in surgical procedures. Amniotic membrane appears to be an alternative source of stem cells as well as an excellent biomaterial for cell-based therapeutic applications in engineering heart tissue.
