In this review,the possibilities of photochemical and ele.trochemical water splitting(WS)using porphyrins,phthalocyanines,related macrocycle.,and their metal comple.es are *** efforts are being carried out in order to develop novel and cheap methods for water decomposition to generate inexhaustible.greener energy sources(mole.ular hydrogen)instead of oil and *** processes of WS in heterogeneous and homogeneous media require novel photo-and ele.trocatalysts,in particular those on macrocycle.basis.A high WS efficiency has been observed for porphyrins and phthalocyanines,showing their suitability both for HER and OER processes are available.using these relative compounds for WS *** can be used in photocatalytic and ele.trocatalytic WS processes both in their free forms or as metal porphyrins/porphyrinates,mainly loaded on various inorganic materials,such as Au NPs,C_(3)N_(4),GaP,KtaO_(3),GaP,and so on,as part of porphyrin-containing polymers or on ele.trode surface as modifying coatings,being sometimes better than commercial catalysts,such as Pt/*** H2 evolution can be considerably depended on the shape of porphyrin particle.;in particular,porphyrin nanowires can yield up to 20 times more H2 than its *** certain cases,both HER and OER can be driven in the same ele.trolyte using metal *** capacity of metal porphyrins to generate ROS(in particular,single. oxygen 1O_(2))under ultrasonic treatment is known and can be successfully used for H_(2)O_(2) and O_(2) *** can be used in similar processes in free form or as composites with inorganic or organic counterparts,being immobilized on nanocarbons,metal oxides and salts,or simply dissolved in water acting in a homogeneous *** additional use of ultrasound can le.d to better results due to the synergistic effect of the sonochemical treatment and ***-organic frameworks are also applied for WS purposes and are mainly based

Hydroxyapatite(HA)and its composites with inorganic additives,dopants,and polymers is a rapidly developing branch in the materials *** particular,carbon allotropes are widely used in these composites being widely applied for medical *** a gap of insufficient generalization of recent achievements in the field of the HA/Carbon composites,in this review we present the state of the art of the field of HA composites and hybrids with classic carbon allotropes and *** composites are known for carbon nanotubes,nanofibers,graphene and its oxidized forms,as well as,in a le.ser grade,for graphite,fulle.enes,nanodiamonds,carbon nanofoams,*** composites can be fabricated by a variety of classic and le.s-common methods,such as co-precipitation(with or without ultrasonic treatment),CVD,hot isostatic pressing,hydrothermal,spark plasma sintering,biomimetic mineralization,thermal and plasma spray,ele.trochemical and ele.trophoretic deposition,self-assembling,3D printing,ele.trospinning,and lyophilisation,among *** of various synthesis techniques can be also carried out for composite *** or synthetic HA can be used as it is for further interaction with carbon allotropes or it can be first prepared and then reacted with carbon counterpart;similarly,carbon allotropes can be introduced into the interaction with HA directly or they can be first synthesized,in particular from *** biocompatible.composites can be produced in the form of coatings,powders,and scaffolds and can additionally contain quantitative amounts of third phases,frequently natural or synthetic *** these composites,especially with O-containing functionalizing groups,HA disadvantages could be considerably decreased with simultaneous enhancement of mechanical properties,becoming similar to human bone,chemical stability and biocompatibility,as well as possessing antibacterial ***→G reduction and higher HA decoration were obs

During the winter period（January–March 2016）, the total suspended particle.（tSP） and particulate matter smalle. than 2.5 μm（PM2.5） were characterized by the application of various analytical techniques in four zones of the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey in Mexico. to evaluate the seasonal variation of some ele.ents in the particulate matter, the results of this study were compared with those obtained during the summer season（July–September 2015）. the speciation of the C_（1s） signal by X-ray photoele.tron spectroscopy reveale. the contribution of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons as the main components in both seasons. Conversely, carboxylic groups associated with biogenic emissions were detected only in winter. the percentages of SO_4^（2-） ions were lower in winter, possibly caused by the decrease in the solar radiation, and relative humidity recorded. the results of the ICP analysis reveale. that Fe, Zn and Cu were the most abundant metals in both tSP and PM2.5 in the two seasons. there were significant seasonal variations for concentrations of As, Ni and Zn in the urban area and for Fe, As, Cd, Ni and Zn in the industrial zone. this was attributed to the greater burning of fuels as well as to an increase in vehicular traffic, the effect of thermal inversion and changes in some meteorological parameters. the results of the sequential microanalysis by Raman spectroscopy and SEM/EDS allowed observation of deposits of carbonaceous material on the particle. and to perform the speciation of particle. rich in Fe and Pb, which helped infer their possible.emission sources.

Simulation of vessel tissue remodeling with residual stress:an application to in-stent restenosis

We present a numerical procedure to model the artery wall remodeling stimulated by stenting considering varying degree of residual *** framework sets up biological remodeling with the existence of residual *** studies suggest that the residual stress originates from the growth and remodeling of the premature ***,it is known that tissue remodeling can happen under mechanical ***,none of the existing research studies the impact of residual stress on the mechanical-driven growth of *** fill this gap,we build a numerical framework that couple. the residual stress with a growth model,and examine its impact on tissue *** proposed approach is applied to in-stent restenosis,where the tissue remodeling process is modele. with finite ele.ent method,and the residual stress is generated geometrically using open angle.*** result shows that residual stress reverses the radial distribution of stress concentration,which is ameliorated by tissue *** thickening of vessel wall tends to increase with residual stress,which links to more severe in-stent *** results demonstrate the important interplay between residual stress and tissue *** findings suggest that residual stress should be considered in the future simulation of tissue remodeling.

We present a high performance modularly-built open-source *** is a C++imple.entation of the modified immersed finite ele.ent method(mIFEM)to solve fluid-structure interaction(FSI)*** software is modularly built to perform multiple.tasks including fluid dynamics(incompressible.and slightly compressible.fluid models),linear and nonlinear solid mechanics,and fully couple. fluid-structure *** of open-source software packages are restricted to certain discretization methods;some are under-tested,under-documented,and lack modularity as well as *** is designed and built to include a set of generic classes for users to adapt so that any fluid and solid solvers can be couple. through the FSI *** addition,the package utilizes well-developed and tested *** also comes with standard test cases that serve as software and algorithm *** software can be built on cross-platform,i.e.,Linux,Windows,and Mac OS,using *** paralle.ization is also imple.ented for high-performance computing for large-sized *** is documented using Doxygen and publicly available.to download on *** is expected to benefit the future development of FSI algorithms and be applied to a variety of FSI applications.

Mechanical stimuli play critical role. in cardiovascular diseases,in which in vivo stresses in blood vessels present a great challe.ge to *** on the structural-thermal couple. finite ele.ent method,we propose a thermal expansion method to estimate stresses in multi-layer blood vessels under healthy and pathological *** proposed method provides a relatively simple.and convenient means to predict reliable.in vivo mechanical stresses with accurate residual *** method is first verified with the opening-up process and the pressure-radius responses for single.and multi-layer vessel *** is then applied to study the stress variation in a human carotid artery at different hypertension stages and in a plaque of vascular *** results show that specific or optimal residual stresses exist for different blood pressures,which helps form a homogeneous stress distribution across vessel *** elastic shear stress is identified on the shoulder of the plaque,which contributes to the tearing effect in plaque *** present study indicates that the proposed numerical method is a capable.and efficient in vivo stress evaluation of patient-specific blood vessels for clinical purposes.

Parenteral nutrition-associated liver disease(PNALD)is a liver dysfunction caused by various risk factors presented in patients receiving total parenteral nutrition(tPN).Omega-6 rich Intralipid?and omega-3 rich Omegaven?are two intravenous lipid emulsions used in *** could affect the hepatic expression of genes in anti-oxidative stress,but it’s unknown whether tPN affects genes in drug *** this study,either Intralipid?-or Omegaven?-based tPN was administered to mice and the expression of a cohort of genes involved in anti-oxidative stress or drug metabolism was analyzed,glutathione(GSH)le.els were measured,and protein le.els for two key drug metabolism geneswere ***,the expression of most genes was downregulated by Intralipid?-based tPN(Gstpl,Gstml,3,6,Nqol,Ho-1,Mt-1,Gclc,Gclm,Cyp2d9,2f2,2b 10,and 3a11).Omegaven?showed similar results as Intralipid?except for preserving the expression of Gstml and Cyp3a11,and increasing *** GSH le.els were decreased by Intralipid?,but increased by Omegaven?.CYP3A11 protein le.els were increased by Omegaven?.In conclusion,tPN reduced the expression of many genes involved in anti-oxidative stress and drug metabolism in ***,Omegaven?preserved expression of Cyp3a11,suggesting another beneficial effect of Omegaven?in protecting liver functions.

Background Despite the increasing focus on strengthening One Health capacity building on global le.el, challe.ges remain in devising and imple.enting real-world interventions particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. On the existence of the compound“Ce_(3)NbO_(7+δ)”prepared under air atmosphere

the solid state synthesis of the phase"Ce_(3)NbO_(7+δ)",from stoichiometric quantities of CeO_(2)and Nb_(2)O_(5),was investigated under air atmosphere,as previously described by Zhang et al.(Journal of Rare Earths,2007,25,730-733),A combination of powder X-ray diffraction,scanning ele.tron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis,and laboratory Ce L_(3)X-ray absorption spectroscopy,demonstrates the product of the reaction to be a mixture of CeO_(2)and CeNbO_(4).these data,and reexamination of the published X-ray diffraction data of"Ce_(3)NbO_(7+δ)",are consistent with this phase in fact being CeO_(2).No evidence for the formation of a phase of composition"Ce_(3)NbO_(7+δ)"is found,by solid state synthesis under air atmosphere.
