Accurate and reproducible analysis of murine small and large intestinal tissue is key for preclinical models involving intestinal ***,there is no easily ac-cessible,standardized method that allows researchers of different skill levels to con-sistently dissect intestines in a time-efficient ***,we describe the design and use of the 3D-printed“Mouse Intestinal Slicing Tool”(MIST),which can be used to longitudinally dissect murine intestines for further *** benchmarked the MIST against a commonly used procedure involving scissors to make a longitudinal cut along the *** of the MIST halved the time per mouse to prepare the intestines and outperformed alternative methods in smoothness of the cutting edge and overall *** sharing the plans for printing the MIST,we hope to contribute a uniformly applicable method for saving time and increasing consistency in studies of the mouse gastrointestinal tract.

In the last decade, Brazil was the scene of two of the world’s biggest disasters related to mining tailings dams. The collapse of the Mariana and Brumadinho dams was catastrophic event that brought to light major environmental and humanitarian crises. Facts like this incite debate on the safety of dam construction methods and highlight the need for a broad discussion of dam safety legislation in the country. From the above, this paper promotes a review of various forms of construction of tailings dams and their associated problems, as well as discusses the techniques for soil reinforcement and their construction methods. The work also brings an overview of the Brazilian dams from April to July 2019, tracing the context of the Brazilian tailings dams months after the tragedy of Brumadinho. The methodology includes a robust literature review and discourse analysis. In Brazil, the number of ruptured dams is alarming, especially in the state of Minas Gerais, in which more than 7 have broken in the last two decades. Among the damages, the deaths impact society abruptly and were cataloged 455 deaths, of which 216 correspond to the rupture of the dam of the Córrego do Feijão mine in Brumadinho. To evaluate and diagnose a dam, one should consider ordinance N ° 70,389, 2017 revoked by Resolution ANM n ° 95, of February 7, 2022. In this context, in March 2019, we experienced several disturbing situations regarding dam instability in the state of Minas Gerais, being categorized as risky structures. To exemplify, one can cite dams classified as level 2 risk that became level 3. Due to the above facts, several studies are being conducted to improve soil aspects. For example, we highlight the increase in soil resistance that can be done using commercial and alternative materials available in the environment.

BACKGROUND Surgical intervention is usually a traumatic event that causes stress and anxiety in the pediatric patient and the family *** reduce the harmful effects of presurgical anxiety,parental presence during induction of anesthesia(PPIA)is one of the more notable interventions used in medical ***,data on this measure are difficult to evaluate and often face resistance from healthcare *** To analyze the perception of the healthcare workers after the implementation of a PPIA *** A survey was developed and sent by email to all the healthcare staff working in the children’s area of a tertiary *** consisted of 14 items divided into positive aspects of PPIA and negative aspects of PPIA evaluated with the use of a likert scale(1 to 5).The demographics of the respondents were included in the data *** answers to the questions were interpreted through the Net Promoter Score(NPS).The statistical analysis compared the differences in the responses to each question of the survey made by the different groups of health personnel *** A total of 141 surveys were sent out,with a response rate of 69%.Of the total number of responses,68%were from women and 32%from *** average age of the participants was 42.3±10.6 *** for the positive questions about the PPIA,83%had an NPS>50,and only one had a score between 0 and 50,which means that the quality of the service was rated as excellent or good by 100%of the *** the other hand,100%of the negative questions about the PPIA had a negative *** to the question“PPIA increases patient safety”were significantly different(P=0.037),with a lower percentage of pediatric surgeons(70%)thinking that PPIA increased patient safety,compared with anesthesiologists(90%),nursing(92%),and other medical personnel(96%).CONClUSION The personnel who participated in the PPIA program at our center were in favor of *** were no validated arguments to

Lithraea molleoides (Anacardiaceae) is a tree that grows in South America including Southern Brazil, Southern, and Eastern Bolivia, Southern Paraguay, Northern, and Central Argentina. Infusions, decoctions, or tinctures from its aerial parts (leaves, buds, and young stems) are employed in ethnomedicine mainly against respiratory, and digestive inflammations and illnesses. Antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antinociceptive activities, among others, have been reported for L. molleoides. Many of its biological activities have been associated with the reported presence of 5-alkenyl resorcinols. Alkyl/alkenyl catechols and alkyl/alkenyl resorcinols are very common in members of the Anacardiaceae family and several activities have been attributed to them. This work describes the isolation and the structural elucidation of three new 5-alkenyl resorcinols isolated from Lithraea molleoides reported in nature for the first time.

In this paper,we present a novel spatial reconstruction scheme,called AENO,that results from a special averaging of the ENO polynomial and its closest neighbour,while retaining the stencil direction decided by the ENO choice.A variant of the scheme,called m-AENO,results from averaging the modified ENO(m-ENO)polynomial and its closest *** concept is thoroughly assessed for the one-dimensional linear advection equation and for a one-dimensional non-linear hyperbolic system,in conjunction with the fully discrete,high-order ADER approach implemented up to fifth order of accuracy in both space and *** results,as compared to the conventional ENO,m-ENO and WENO schemes,are very ***,our results show that the l_(1)-errors of the novel AENO approach are the smallest for most cases ***,for a chosen error size,AENO turns out to be the most efficient method of all five methods tested.

Plants hold biochemical and physiological mechanisms to withstand drought ***,depending on water deficit interval,plant rehydration relies on how it can retain growth or a positive water balance—or rarely *** this study,two species of Hymenaea,one from the Amazon and the other from the Brazilian Cerrado,were investigated for their physiological mechanism associated with growth rehydration upon short-term exposure to drought *** findings demonstrate that Hymenaea courbaril tends to invest in nitrogen to the detriment of carbon compounds,-as it is limited by lower net photosynthesis-and adjust root growth to attenuate drought stress *** contrast,Hymenaea stigonocarpa takes advantage of higher water potential and a basal rate of lower net photosynthesis to support aboveground growth under such ***,it is postulated that there are distinct ways of controlling water status and growth between *** and ***,which are determined either by the ability of the species to keep net photosynthesis at low levels of water content or by favoring the accumulation of nitrogen *** mechanisms were effective with regards to water use efficiency and thus it is reasonable to suggest that strategies are not exclusive and may work under adverse conditions,as observed in Amazon and Brazilian Cerrado ***.

Nitrogen fertilization and potassium requirement for cereal crops under a continuous no-till system

Nitrogen(N)and potassium(K)are the most required nutrients for corn and wheat *** the N application rate usually boosts crop ***,many uncertainties remain for K *** deficiency results in yield losses,but K application rate based on the percentage of K+in the cation exchange capacity(CEC)is doubtful,especially in soil with high CEC.A field trial was conducted to examine the effects of KCl application before sowing corn and wheat,by raising the percentage of K+in CEC at pH 7.0(CECpH7.0)to approximately 2.5%,3.5%,and 4.5%,and adding N as a topdressing(75,150,and 225 kg ha-1 to corn and 40,80,and 120 kg ha-1 to wheat)on the nutrition and yield of corn and wheat under a continuous no-till system(30 years).Exchangeable K+content increased in the topsoil(0–20 cm depth)up to 7.2 mmolc dm-3 after K application at the highest rate,which,however,did not result in significant increases in nutrient uptake and yields for both corn and *** N application rate positively affected the uptake and removal of all macronutrients by corn and *** N as a topdressing increased yields of corn and wheat by up to 83%and 22%,*** results suggest that in the soil with a high CECpH7.0(162.1 mmolc dm-3),the recommendation for K application made by considering the percentage of K+in the CECpH7.0 may result in excessive application of K fertilizer to crops with high K-recycling potential grown under a continuous no-till system.
