Plasmon-enhanced electrocatalysis(PEEC)is an emerging approach to mitigate CO_(2)*** mechanisms behind CO_(2)adsorption and reduction at the catalyst-electrolyte interface in PEEC still need to be further ***,we employ a well-defined Ag nanostructure to elucidate these pivotal *** shining light with wavelengths of 625,525,405 nm on Ag,an adjustable CO/H_(2)ratio from 35 to 1 can be *** reaction pathway changing under plasmonic excitation does not originate from the lowered CO_(2)mass transfer in the vicinity of Ag,as the electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance results unravel that a slightly elevated temperature in bulk electrolyte caused by light irradiation cannot weaken the CO_(2)adsorption at the Ag catalyst-electrolyte *** calculations reveal that optical excitation towards shorter wavelengths leads to a progressive lowered energy barrier for H_(2)formation together with an enhanced energy barrier for^(*)COOH *** thermodynamically suppressed,CO_(2)reduction can still be improved kinetically by optimizing the excitation wavelength and intensity,being accompanied with the enhanced *** absorption spectroscopy results further correlate the higher photocurrent with a prolonged electron-phonon coupling time,verifying that the improvement of CO_(2)reduction kinetics in PEEC can be realized by hot electron harnessing.

Brain plasticity-A universal tool with many variations:The study of brain plasticity has been gaining interest since almost a century and has now reached a huge amount of information(>80,000 results in PubMed).Overall,different types of plasticity,including stem cell-driven genesis of new neurons(adult neurogenesis),cells in arrested maturation(dormant neurons),neuro-glial and synaptic plasticity,can coexist and contribute to grant plastic changes in the brain,from a cellular to system level(Benedetti and Couillard-Despres,2022;Bonfanti et al.,2023).

The role of copper element has been an increasingly relevant topic in recent years in the fields of human and animal health, for both the study of new drugs and innovative food and feed supplements. This metal plays an important role in the central nervous system, where it is associated with glutamatergic signaling, and it is widely involved in inflammatory processes. Thus, diseases involving copper(Ⅱ) dyshomeostasis often have neurological symptoms, as exemplified by Alzheimer's and other diseases(such as Parkinson's and Wilson's diseases). Moreover, imbalanced copper ion concentrations have also been associated with diabetes and certain types of cancer, including glioma. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive overview of recent results that show the importance of these metal ions in several pathologies, mainly Alzheimer's disease, through the lens of the development and use of copper chelators as research compounds and potential therapeutics if included in multi-target hybrid drugs. Seeing how copper homeostasis is important for the well-being of animals as well as humans, we shortly describe the state of the art regarding the effects of copper and its chelators in agriculture, livestock rearing, and aquaculture, as ingredients for the formulation of feed supplements as well as to prevent the effects of pollution on animal productions.

Utilization of irradiance ratios for calculating the effect of reflections from obstructions in building energy simulation

The ability to take into account reflections from obstructions is of fundamental importance in building energy simulation (BES), because reflections can have a substantial influence on solar gains. In BES tools, this ability is often implemented duplicating functionalities that have already been solved efficiently in lighting simulation tools. This happens because importing those functionalities from a lighting simulation tool (source) into a BES tool (target) is usually a complex operation producing non-portable results. This article demonstrates that this ability can be imported modularly and portably without intervening in the internals of the two tools. This can be obtained by: (1) creating, in the source tool, pairs of models which are analogue-on the one hand-to the original model in the target tool, and-on the other hand-to the model in the target tool hypothetically enriched with some predictive ability only available in the source tool;(2) measuring, at each time step, the ratio between the performances predicted by the source tool as regards the two analogue models;(3) re-scaling, at each time-step, the performance predicted by the target tool on the basis of that ratio. When appropriate analogue models are utilized, this strategy enables distinct simulation tools to work like an integrated computing unit.

Current indications and role of surgery in the management of sigmoid diverticulitis

Sigmoid diverticulitis is a common disease which carries both a significant morbidity and a societal economic *** review article analyzes the current data regarding management of sigmoid diverticulitis in its variable clinical ***-spectrum antibiotics are the standard of care for uncomplicated *** published data indicate that sigmoid diverticulitis does not mandate surgical management after the second episode of uncomplicated disease as previously ***,a more individualized approach,taking into account frequency,severity of the attacks and their impact on quality of life,should guide the indication for *** the other hand,complicated diverticular disease still requires surgical treatment in patients with acceptable comorbidity risk and remains a life-threatening condition in the case of free peritoneal *** surgery is increasingly accepted as the surgical approach of choice for most presentations of the disease and has also been proposed in the treatment of generalized *** is not sufficient evidence supporting any changes in the approach to management in younger ***,the available evidence suggests that surgery should be indicated after one attack of uncomplicated disease in immunocompromised *** clinical presentations of sigmoid diverticulitis and their possible association with inflammatory bowel disease are also discussed.

Alzheimer 's disease(AD) is an alarming noncommunicable, multi-factorial, and non-treatable disease. Its underlying neurodegenerative events have not yet been fully explained and its early diagnosis is very difficult. The appearance of the disease is associated with clinical features such as the degeneration of several cholinergic nuclei of the brain.

REDUCED BASIS METHOD FOR PARAMETRIZED ELLIPTIC ADVECTION-REACTION PROBLEMS

In this work we consider the Reduced Basis method for the solution of parametrized advection-reaction partial differential equations. For the generation of the basis we adopt a stabilized finite element method and we define the Reduced Basis method in the ＂primal- dual＂ formulation for this stabilized problem. We provide a priori Reduced Basis error estimates and we discuss the effects of the finite element approximation on the Reduced Basis error. We propose an adaptive algorithm, based on the a posteriori Reduced Basis error estimate, for the selection of the sample sets upon which the basis are built; the idea leading this algorithm is the minimization of the computational costs associated with the solution of the Reduced Basis problem. Numerical tests demonstrate the efficiency, in terms of computational costs, of the ＂primal-dual＂ Reduced Basis approach with respect to an ＂only primal＂ one. Parametrized advection-reaction partial differential equations, Reduced Basis method, ＂primal-dual＂ reduced basis approach, Stabilized finite element method, a posteriori error estimation.

Upgrading the definition of early gastric cancer: better staging means more appropriate treatment

Since Murakami defined early gastric cancer(EGC) as a "carcinoma limited to the gastric mucosa and/or submucosa regardless of the lymph node status", several authors have focused on the most influential histopathological parameters for predicting the development of lymph node metastases by considering the lymph node status as an important prognostic factor. A few authors have also considered the depth of invasion as one of the keys to explaining the existence of subgroups of patients affected by EGC with poor prognoses. In any case, EGC is still considered an initial phase of tumor progression with good prognosis. The introduction of modern endoscopic devices has allowed a precise diagnosis of early lesions, which can lead to improved definitions of tumors that can be radically treated with endoscopic mucosal resection or endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD). Given the widespread use of these techniques, the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association( JGCA) identified in 2011 the standard criteria that should exclude the presence of lymph node metastases. At that time, EGCs with nodal involvement should have been asserted as no longer fitting the definition of an early tumor. Some authors have also demonstrated that the morphological growth pattern of a tumor, according to Kodama's classification, is one of the most important prognostic factors, thereby suggesting the need to report it in histopathological drafts. Notwithstanding the acquired knowledge regarding the clinical behavior of EGC, Murakami's definition is still being used. This definition needs to be upgraded according to the modern staging of the disease so that the appropriate treatment would be selected.
