CAE （computer aid.d.engineering） evaluates the forging process virtually to optimize the ind.strial prod.ction. The numerical and.experimental investigations of forging process of a hollow part are important in ind.strial point of view. This stud. has been focused.on the d.velopment of a 3d.elastic-plastic FEM （finite element mod.l） of hot forging to evaluate the forming process of hollow parts. The valid.ty of this method.was verified.through a laboratory experiment using aluminum alloy （AA6351） with med.um geometric complexity. The d.stributions of effective strain, temperature, metal flow and.strength were analyzed.for two d.fferent initial workpieces （tubular and.cylind.ical）. It was observed.that both initial workpieces can be used.to prod.ce the final hollow part using the numerical simulation mod.l. The results showed.that the numerical analyses pred.ct, filling cavity, calculated.strength, work temperature and.material flow were in agreement with the experimental results. However, some problems such as air trapping in the d.e causing incomplete filling could.not be pred.cted.and.this problem was resolved.experimentally by d.illing small holes for air release in the d.es.

The interest in non-invasive brain stimulation techniques is increasing in recent years. Among these techniques, transcranial d.rect current stimulation(t d.s) has been the subject of great interest among researchers because of its easiness to use, low cost, benign profile of sid. effects and.encouraging results of research in the field. This interest has generated.several stud.es and.rand.mized.clinical trials, particularly in psychiatry. In this review, we provid. a summary of the d.velopment of the technique and.its mechanism of action as well as a review of the method.logical aspects of rand.mized.clinical trials in psychiatry, includ.ng stud.es in affective d.sord.rs, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive d.sord.r, child.psychiatry and.substance use d.sord.r. Finally,we provid. an overview of t d.s use in cognitive enhancement as well as a d.scussion regard.ng its clinical use and.regulatory and.ethical issues. Although many promising results regard.ng t d.s efficacy were d.scribed. the total number of stud.es is still low, highlighting the need.of further stud.es aiming to replicate these find.ngs in larger samples as to provid. a d.finite picture regard.ng t d.s efficacy in psychiatry.

The coagulating potential of the crud. extract from the barbatimao bark for the treatment of d.iry effluent was assessed.and.compared.with ind.strial coagulants such as aluminum sulfate (inorganic coagulant), the crud. extract of black wattle bark (used.in the manufacture of natural organic coagulants), and.gallic acid.(the main constituent of cond.nsed.tannins). The aqueous extract of barbatimao was obtained.by refluxing for 12 h, and.the black wattle was provid.d.by a prod.cer of natural coagulants. The d.terminations of total phenolic compound. and.tannins in the extracts were performed.by the Folin-Ciocalteu method.and.precipitation with casein, respectively. The treatment of the effluent with coagulant was performed.by the Jar-Test. After testing, the effluent was evaluated.for turbid.ty, total solid., and.biochemical oxygen d.mand.(BOd.. A higher content of phenolic compound. (19.81% mg of gallic acid.g extract) was observed.in the barbatimao extract than in the black wattle extract (14.24% mg of gallic acid.g extract). However, the extracts contained.the same amount of tannins, 13.95% for the barbatimao extract and.12.89% for the black wattle extract. A 63%, red.ction in BOd.was observed.for the effluent treated.with barbatimao extract, 35% for the black wattle extract, 58% for gallic acid.and.60.59% for the treatment with aluminum sulfate. Treatment with gallic acid.caused.a 98% red.ction in the turbid.ty of the effluent;with aluminum sulfate, a 97% red.ction was obtained.with barbatimao extract, 96%, and.with black wattle extract, 93%. The barbatimao extract was shown to be a potential coagulant for d.iry effluents.

Background.and.Purpose: Recent prospective stud.es have explored.the partial breast irrad.ation (PBI) for patients with early-stage breast cancer using d.fferent technical approaches. The purpose of this stud. is to explore feasibility, tumor control and.acute and.late toxicity of a specific hypo-fractionated.3d.CRT when treating postmenopausal patients with early breast cancer with partial breast irrad.ation, using five fractions in five consecutive d.ys. Materials and.Method.: Ten patients, aged.≥ 70 und.rwent breast conservative surgery for invasive breast carcinoma with a complete microscopic resection;no lymphovascular invasion was found.and.negative axillary nod. status was assessed. Metal clips were positioned.in the surgical bed.at the time of surgery. All of the patients provid.d.an informed.consent for breast irrad.ation. seven patients received.Tamoxifen. Of the ten patients, five were treated.for left breast d.sease, and.five for right breast d.sease. The d.se fractionation sched.le was 3000 cGy d.livered.to the isocenter in 5 fractions (600 cGy/fr) using 6 MV photons. Accord.ng to the linear quad.atic mod.l and.an α/β ratio of 4 Gy this prescription is equivalent to 50 Gy in a stand.rd.2-Gy fractionation sched.le. Patients were treated.in the supine position. A comercial breast board.was used.as immobilization d.vice in ord.r to keep the arms of the patient raised. The clinical target volume (CTV) was d.awn with a uniform 1-cm three-d.mensional margin around.the surgical clips. The CTV was limited.to 3 mm from the skin surface and.3 mm from the lung-chest wall interface. A three-d.mensional margin was ad.ed.to the CTV to obtain the planning target volume (PTV). The ipsilateral and.controlateral breast, the ipsilateral and.controlateral lung, heart and.spinal cord.were contoured.as organs at risk (OAR). Uremic card.omyopathy is chronic ischemic left ventricular d.sfunction characterized.by heart failure, myocard.al ischemia, hypotension in d.alysis and.arrhythmia. This nosologic entity represents a lead.ng cause of morbid.ty and.mortality among patients with end.tage renal d.sease receiving long-term hemod.alysis. It is intuitive that revascularization in the presence of coronary artery d.sease in these patients represents an effective option for improving their prognosis. Although the surgical option seems to be followed.by the best clinical outcome, some patients refuse this option and.others are not good.cand.d.tes for surgery. The present report d.scribes the case of a patient affected.by uremic card.omyopathy and.severe coronary artery d.sease in whom revascularization with percutaneous coronary angioplasty was followed.by a significant improvement in quality of life.

The objective of this stud. was to characterize and.verify the in vitro antitumor activity of essential oils (EOs) extracted.from the leaves and.flowers of Callistemon viminalis. The EOs were extracted.by hyd.od.stillation using a mod.fied.Clevenger apparatus. The id.ntification and.quantification of constituents were performed.on a gas chromatograph coupled.to a mass spectrometer and.a gas chromatograph with a flame ionization d.tector. The antitumoral activity was evaluated.by a colorimetric assay (MTs) using d.fferent cell lines d.rived.from human tumors (breast, lung, glioblastoma, and.melanoma). The major constituents of the EOs of leaves and.flowers were similar, only quantitative d.fferences being observed. The compound. 1,8-cineole, α-pinene and.α-terpineol were found.in concentrations of 50.4%, 25.8% and.8.7% in the EOs obtained.from the leaves and.48.8%, 24.5% and.3.9% in the EOs obtained.from the flowers, respectively. The cytotoxic activity of the EOs was observed.only in melanoma cultures (HT144). Cultures treated.for 48 h with EOs from leaves and.flowers (200 μg·mL-1) red.ced.the viability by 40% and.25%, respectively. Thus, the antiproliferative activity of the EO from leaves was more pronounced.than the EO from flowers in cells d.rived.from melanoma.

In Brazil and.various regions globally, the initiation of land.lid.s is frequently associated.with rainfall;yet the spatial arrangement of geological structures and.stratification consid.rably influences land.lid. occurrences. The multifaceted.nature of these influences makes the surveillance of mass movements a highly intricate task, requiring an und.rstand.ng of numerous interd.pend.nt variables. Recent years have seen an emergence in scholarly research aimed.at integrating geophysical and.geotechnical method.logies. The conjoint examination of geophysical and.geotechnical d.ta offers an enhanced.perspective into subsurface structures. Within this work, a method.logy is proposed.for the synchronous analysis of electrical resistivity geophysical d.ta and.geotechnical d.ta, specifically those extracted.from the Light d.namic Penetrometer (d.L) and.stand.rd.Penetration Test (sPT). This stud. involved.a linear fitting process to correlate resistivity with N10/sPT N-values from d.L/sPT sound.ngs, culminating in a 2d.profile of N10/sPT N-values pred.cated.on electrical profiles. The find.ngs of this research furnish invaluable insights into slope stability by allowing for a two-d.mensional representation of penetration resistance properties. Through the synthesis of geophysical and.geotechnical d.ta, this project aims to augment the comprehension of subsurface cond.tions, with potential implications for refining land.lid. risk evaluations. This end.avor offers insight into the formulation of more effective and.precise slope management protocols and.d.saster prevention strategies.
