Mg-Zn-Zr(ZK)alloys exhibit notably high mechanical strength amongst all magnesium alloy ***,due to the formation of low melting point Mg_3Zn_7-precipitates,these alloys are susceptible to hot cracking,thus compromising their metallurgical *** addition of rare earths to ZK alloys is an alternative to form higher melting point intermetallic compounds,speed up dynamic recrystallization,refine grain size,enhance corrosion resistance and extend the service temperature due to improved creep *** work deals with the effect of Ce-base mischmetal addition on the hot rolling behaviour of as-cast ZK60 *** microstructure investigation conducted using electron microscopy and X-Ray diffraction shows that precipitation of Mg_(7)Zn_(3) intermetallics occur during hot rolling,whereas no further precipitation is observed for the ZK60-Mm *** fragmentation of the intermetallic compounds occur during hot rolling and finer particles of Mg_(7)Zn_(3) are observed for the ZK60,whereas Mg_(7)Zn_(3) and Mg Zn_(2) Ce intermetallics are formed in the alloy modified with mischmetal addition.A higher fraction of dynamically recrystallized grains is observed for the ZK60-Mm in comparison to the *** recrystallization takes place in ZK60 with the formation of sub-grains near to the intermetallics and the addition of mischmetal promotes the occurrence of discontinuous recrystallization with the nucleation of new grains close to the *** mechanical strength and,in particular,the ductility of the hot-rolled alloys are notably improved when compared to the same alloys in the as-cast *** mechanical strength is,however,higher for the ZK60 *** solid solution strengthening,softer Mg Zn_(2) Ce intermetallics and more extensive recrystallization contribute to reduce the mechanical strength of *** in both alloys are initiated at coarse intermetallics and propagate through intermetallic-rich regions.

The use of plasmas provides a way to overcome the low damage threshold of classical solid-state based optical materials,which is the main limitation encountered in producing and manipulating intense and energetic laser *** can directly amplify or alter the characteristics of ultra-short laser pulses via the three-wave coupling equations for parametric *** strong-coupling regime of Brillouin scattering(sc-sBs)is of particular interest:recent progress in this domain is presented *** includes the role of the global phase in the spatio-temporal evolution of the three-wave coupled equations for backscattering that allows a description of the coupling dynamics and the various stages of amplification from the initial growth to the so-called self-similar *** understanding of the phase evolution allows control of the directionality of the energy transfer via the phase relation between the pulses.A scheme that exploits this coupling in order to use the plasma as a wave plate is also suggested.

The objective of this work is to understand how the process of co-creation occurs within the creative industry of video games. For this, concepts of the creative industry, co-creation, information and communication technologies (ICTs) and innovation were studied. since this is an exploratory and qualitative research, a single case study was chosen as a method. The analysis was done in a Brazilian company that develops games for mobile devices. The results show that the consumer (gamer) participates in value creation in the company’s products, mainly in the initial production stages. In the later phases, after the launch and other steps of the life cycle, although there is a relationship with the users, the joint creation of value is little explored by the organization. Also, it was verified that the co-creation process is supported by different information and communication tools, which provide agility to the process.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a progressive inflammatory liver disorder that is rare in children and adolescents. AIH has a broad clinical spectrum and a quick response to treatment with corticosteroids and immunosuppressive medication. The available diagnosis criteria have limitations and should be evaluated in pediatric populations. Recently, some studies reported that the 2008 simplified diagnostic criteria for AIH could be used in children with high sensibility and specificity. In addition, the authors reported that globulin and immunoglobulin G levels can be used interchangeably for diagnostic purposes. They also demonstrated that the 2008 simplified criteria fail in identifying patients with fulminant hepatic failure. Here, we discuss the limitations of the use of these criteria in pediatric patients and the requirement of more studies to improve the diagnosis of AIH in children.

The applications of bionic methodology developed by the Laboratory of Design and Material selection as basis in the creation of junction elements were demonstrated. These elements favor the application of Ecodesign in reference to the effectiveness of product dismount aiming the reduction of ambient impact in all its phases of use. The creation, the development and the confection of new junction elements were described, and case studies of new products developed specifically with this purpose were presented.

Thalidomide was indicated as a sedative and antiemetic and prescribed for pregnant women. Its tragic teratogenic effects culminated in withdrawal from the market. since the discovery of its anti-angiogenic and anti-inflammatory actions, thalidomide has been used in the treatment of leprosy and multiple myeloma, which justify studies of its stability. We investigated the effects of irradiation of thalidomide up to 100 kGy （fourfold the usual sterilizing dose for pharmaceutics）. The polymorph of thalidomide was obtained in an isothermal experiment at 270℃. All samples underwent gamma irradiation for specific times. At different doses, decomposition of the pharmaceutical was not observed up to 100 kGy. The observed effect was angle turning between the phthalimide and glutarimide rings modulated by repulsion towards the carbonyl group, leading to a stable energetic configuration, as measured by the equilibrium in the torsion angle after irradiation. The thalidomide molecule has a center of symmetry, so a full turn starting from 57.3° will lead to an identical molecule. Further irradiation will start the process again. samples irradiated at 30 and 100 kGy have more compact unit cells and a lower volume, which leads to an increase in the intermolecular hydrogen interaction within the unit cell, resulting in higher thermal stability for polymorph α.

The effect of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier （EDFA） placed inside the fiber ring of a cavity ring down （CRD） configuration is studied. The limitations and advantages of this configuration are discussed, and the study of the ring-down time as a function of the current applied and gain to the EDFA is also presented. In this case, the power fluctuations in the output signal are strongly dependent on the cavity ring-down time with the EDFA gain.
