Optical immersion clearing is a technique that has been widely studied for more than two decades and that is used to originate a temporary transparency effect in biological *** applied in cooperation with clinical methods it provides optimization of diagnosis and treatment *** technique turns biological tissues more transparent through two main mechanisms-tissue dehydration and refractive index(RI)matching between tissue *** matching is obtained by partial replacement of interstit ial water by a biocompat ible agent that presents higher RI and it can be completely rever sible by natural rehydration in vrivo or by assisted rehydration in ex vivo *** data to characterize and discriminate between the two mechanisms and to find new ones are *** a simple method,based on collimated transmittance and thickness measurements made from muscle samples under treatment,we have estimated the diffusion properties of glucose,ethylene glycol(EG)and water that were used to perform such char acterization and *** these properties with data from literature that characterize their diffusion in water we have observed that musde cell membrane permeability limits agent and water diffusion in the *** same experi-mental data has allowed to calculate the optical dearing(OC)eficiency and make an inter-pretation of the internal changes that occurred in muscle during the *** same methodology can now be used to perform similar studies with other agents and in other tissues in order to solve engineering problems at design of inexpensive and robust technologies for a *** improvement of optical tomogr aphic techmiques with better contrast and in depth imaging.

The present work investigates the entropy and the excitation inversion of a coupled system that consists of a qubit represented by a Cooper pair box （CPB） interacting with a transmission line working as a circuit quantum eleetrodynamics （CQED）. The proposed scheme uses the Buck-Sukumar model with a time dependent frequency in the presence of losses to study the evolution of the entropy and the excitation inversion of the system. We have shown that the CQED is much more sensitive to the presence of losses than the CPB. The results also show that it is possible to monitor properties of the subsystems through appropriate choices of the time-dependent parameters.

Eucalyptus adult material requires more successive subcultures in the in vitro multiplication phase for increased vigor and cellular activity. This study evaluated the endophytic manifestation and shoot multiplication of one 13-year-old Eucalyptus benthamii clone under different culture conditions and used canopy branches(CB) and trunk base material as explant sources. The culture media were wood plant medium(WPM), Murashige and Skoog medium(MS) and JADS(Correia and co-authors medium).Based on the results of the initial multiplication experiment, further tests examined sucrose concentrations and p H. Morphophysiology, dry mass production, endophyticmanifestation and histochemical were determined. Explant sources responded differently to MS and JADS media, but the WPM medium promoted homogeneous *** responses were similar for both explant sources when sucrose concentrations varied. Shoots died in the absence of sucrose, showed high oxidation at 60 g L-1 and optimal development at 30 g L-1. Endophytes were more evident for shoots from the CB origin. Explant sources responded distinctively to treatment due to physiological and intrinsic genetic factors. Therefore, explant sources, different culture media, sucrose concentration and p H may determine micropropagation success and influence the presence and/or intensity of endophytic manifestation.

AIM: To evaluate the correlation between the immunoexpression of angiogenic markers [CD31, CD105 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)], proliferative index(Ki67), and prognosis of patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST).METHODS: This is a retrospective study of 54 GIST cases. Medical records were searched to obtain the GIST patients' demographic and clinical data, and paraffin-embedded blocks of tumor samples were retrieved from the hospital archives to conduct a new immunohistochemical evaluation. The tumor samples of GIST patients were subject to immunohistochemical evaluation for endoglin(CD105), CD31, VEGF, and Ki67 expression. The CD105 and CD31 intratumoral microvascular density(IMVD) was measured using automated analysis. We determined the correlation between the immunoexpression of CD105, CD31, VEGF,Ki67 and prognosis. In addition, we conducted a cutoff analysis using the receiver-operating characteristic curve. VEGF positivity was classified as either null/weak or strong. Ki67 was evaluated using a cutoff of 5%positive cells. The prognosis was classified as good(patient alive without recurrence) or poor(patient with recurrence/death).RESULTS: The distribution of tumor sites among the54 analyzed samples was as follows: 27(50%) in the stomach, 20(37.1%) in the small intestine, 6(11.1%)in the colon, and 1(1.8%) in the esophagus. The size of the tumors ranged from 2 to 33 cm(median: 8cm); in 12 cases(22.2%), the tumor was below 5 cm at the largest diameter, but in 42 cases(77.7%), the tumor was larger than 5 cm. The means of CD105 and CD31 were significantly higher in the group with poor prognosis(P lues of CD105(>1.2%) and CD31(> 2.5%) in the receiver-operating characteristic curve were related to a poorer *** with a better prognosis showed significantly null/weak staining for VEGF(P < 0.001).
