Inactivated coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccines such as CoronaVac and BBIBP-CorV have been widely used in ***,more investigation is still needed to understand antibodies'duration and effectiveness against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variants in the real *** this study,575 participants who had been vaccinated with two or three doses of the inactivated vaccine were *** samples were collected and tested for anti-spike IgG and neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2(original strain,Dela,and Omicron).Unsurprisingly,a third dose of the vaccine significantly enhanced antibody responses against SARS-CoV-2 and its ***,despite a booster dose,the neutralizing antibody levels against Omicron,particularly the BA.5.2 subvariant,remained *** was no sex bias,but an age bias was ***,the predominant IgG subclass antibodies were IgG1 and IgG2,with a much lower level of *** the booster shot,the ratio of IgG4 to IgG1 significantly *** observation of IgG1 to the IgG4 class switch after repeated inactivated vaccinations underscores the importance of continuous monitoring of subclass antibody *** clinical investigations are required to understand the implications of this class switch for optimizing immunization strategies.

Tropical cyclones(TCs),including tropical depressions and different categories of typhoons,hurricanes,and cyclonic storms,mostly originate over the oceans in the absence of direct ***,detailed monitoring and analysis of TCs has always been an unsolved *** the recent 20 years,great changes have taken place in domestic and foreign TC monitoring techniques,imposing a significant impact on TC operations and *** new technologies and products gradually emerge to support operations,with improved monitoring *** this paper,the progress on TC monitoring and analysis via meteorological satellites,radars,and airplanes in China and the world is reviewed,compared,and summarized,with special focuses on multisatellite fusion observations,in situ aircraft measurements,and some unconventional observation equipment such as rockets,saildrones,and underwater *** this basis,the paper points out future directions for improving TC monitoring and analysis in aid of better TC forecast and early warning.

Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata aqueous extract improves hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury by restoring intracellular iron homeostasis

Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury(HIRI)is a common pathophysiological condition occurring during or after liver resection and transplantation,leading to hepatic viability impairment and functional ***,ferroptosis,a newly recognized form of programmed cell death,has been implicated in *** Radix Praeparata(RRP),extensively used in Chinese herbal medicine for its hepatoprotective,anti-inflammatory,and antioxidant properties,presents a potential therapeutic ***,the mechanisms by which RRP mitigates HIRI,particularly through the regulation of ferroptosis,remain *** this study,we developed a HIRI mouse model and monocrotaline(MCT)-and erastin-induced in vitro hepatocyte injury *** conducted whole-genome transcriptome analysis to elucidate the protective effects and mechanisms of RRP on *** RRP aqueous extract was characterized by the presence of acteoside,rehmannioside D,and *** results demonstrate that the RRP aqueous extract ameliorated oxidative stress,reduced intracellular iron accumulation,and attenuated HIRI-induced liver ***,RRP significantly inhibited hepatocyte death by restoring intracellular iron homeostasis both in vivo and in ***,the RRP aqueous extract reduced intrahepatocellular iron accumulation by inhibiting ZIP14-mediated iron uptake,promoting hepcidin-and ferroportin-mediated iron efflux,and ameliorating mitochondrial iron aggregation through upregulation of Cisd1 ***,siRNA-mediated inhibition of hamp synergistically enhanced the RRP aqueous extract's inhibitory effect on *** conclusion,our study elucidates the mechanisms by which RRP aqueous extracts alleviate HIRI,highlighting the restoration of iron metabolic *** findings position RRP as a promising candidate for clinical intervention in HIRI treatment.

Tumor-derived DEFB1 induces immune tolerance by inhibiting maturation of dendritic cell and impairing CD8+ T cell function in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Objective: CD8+ T cells are the key effector cells in the anti-tumor immune response. The mechanism underlying the infiltration of CD8+ T cells in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) has not been clearly ***: Fresh ESCC tissues were collected and grouped according to the infiltration density of CD8+ T *** the transcriptome sequencing on these samples and the combined analyses with The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) ESCC data, a secreted protein DEFB1 was selected to explore its potential role in the infiltration of CD8+T cells. Bioinformatics analyses, histological verification and in vitro experiments were then ***: DEFB1 was highly expressed in ESCC, and the high expression of DEFB1 was an independent risk factor for overall survival. Since the up-regulation or down-regulation of DEFB1 did not affect the proliferation,migration and apoptosis of ESCC cells, we speculated that the oncogenic effect of DEFB1 was achieved by regulating microenvironmental characteristics. Bioinformatics analyses suggested that DEFB1 might play a major role in the inflammatory response and anti-tumor immune response, and correlate to the infiltration of immature dendritic cell(im DC) in ESCC. Histological analyses further confirmed that there were less CD8+ T cells infiltrated, less CD83+ mature DC(m DC) infiltrated and more CD1a+ im DC infiltrated in those ESCC samples with high expression of DEFB1. After the treatment with recombinant DEFB1 protein, the maturation of DC was hindered significantly, followed by the impairment of the killing effects of T cells in both 2D and 3D culture in ***: Tumor-derived DEFB1 can inhibit the maturation of DC and weaken the function of CD8+ T cells, accounting for the immune tolerance in ESCC. The role of DEFB1 in ESCC deserves further exploration.

Seasonal Variability of Internal Tides Northeast of Taiwan

The spatial-temporal characteristics of the barotropic tides and internal tides(ITs) northeast of Taiwan Island are examined, based on a 1-year mooring current observations from May 23, 2017 to May 19, 2018. The results of harmonic tidal analysis show that the barotropic tides are dominated by semidiurnal tides, which is mainly controlled by M2 tidal components. Moreover, the vertical structures of diurnal and semidiurnal ITs show that the semidiurnal IT shows notable seasonal variation, whereas seasonal variations of the diurnal IT energy is not significant. The semidiurnal IT energy in winter half year is twice that in summer half year. The seasonal variation of semidiurnal IT is mainly modulated by the direction change of the current rather than by the topographic features and stratification. In summer(winter) half year cyclonic(anti-cyclonic) eddies meanly control at this point, so the flow direction is mainly in the southwest(northeast) direction, causing the background flow to flow along(perpendicular to) the isobath. When crossing the isobath, the ITs are generated by the interaction of the barotropic tide and the topography, resulting in the increase of the tidal energy in the winter half year.

This paper proposes a multifunction radar that can not only measure sea currents but also perform sea-surface *** fundamental aspect of the proposed radar comprises transmitting time-shifted up-and-down continuous wave linear frequency modulated signals that allow for the offset of two one-dimensional range images of the sea surface that respectively correspond to the upward linear frequency modulated(LFM)signal and the downward LFM *** to the Doppler frequency shift from the sea surface,a range offset,which is proportional to the radial velocity of the sea surface,occurs between the upward and downward LFM *** using the least-squares linear fitting method in the transformed domain,the range offset can be measured and the current velocity can be ***,we verify the accuracy of current measurement with simulation results.
