Microscale zero-valent iron(mZVI)has shown great potential for groundwater Cr(Ⅵ)***,low Cr(Ⅵ)removal capacity caused by passivation restricted the wide use of *** prepared mZVI/GCS by encapsulating mZVI in a porous glutaraldehydecrosslinked chitosan matrix,and the formation of the passivation layer was alleviated by reducing the contact between zero-valent iron *** average pore diameter of mZVI/GCS was 8.775 nm,which confirmed the mesoporous characteristic of this *** of batch experiments demonstrated that mZVI/GCS exhibited high Cr(Ⅵ)removal efficiency in a wide range of pH(2-10)and temperature(5-35℃).Common groundwater coexisting ions slightly affected m ZVI/*** material showed great reusability,and the average Cr(Ⅵ)removal efficiency was 90.41%during eight *** this study,we also conducted kinetics and isotherms ***-second-order model was the most matched kinetics *** Cr(Ⅵ)adsorption process was fitted by both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms models,and the maximum Langmuir adsorption capacity of m ZVI/GCS reached243.63 mg/g,which is higher than the adsorption capacities of materials reported in most of the previous ***,the column capacity for Cr(Ⅵ)removal of a mZVI/GCS-packed column was 6.4 times higher than that of a mZVI-packed column in a 50-day ***,mZVI/GCS with a porous structure effectively relieved passivation problems of mZVI and showed practical application prospects as groundwater Cr(Ⅵ)remediation material with practical application prospects.

Aquifer thermal energy storage(ATES)system has received attention for heating or cooling ***,it is well known that land subsidence becomes a major environmental concern for ATES ***,the effect of temperature on land subsidence has received practically no attention in the *** paper presents a thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM)coupled numerical study on an ATES system in Shanghai,*** water wells were installed for seasonal heating and cooling of an agriculture *** target aquifer at a depth of 74e104.5 m consisted of alternating layers of sand and silty sand and was covered with *** level,temperature,and land subsidence data from 2015 to 2017 were collected using field monitoring *** by data,we constructed a field scale three-dimensional(3D)model using TOUGH(Transport of Unsaturated Groundwater and Heat)and FLAC3D(Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua)equipped with a thermo-elastoplastic constitutive *** effectiveness of the numerical model was validated by field *** model was used to reproduce groundwater flow,heat transfer,and mechanical responses in porous media over three years and capture the thermo-and pressure-induced land *** results show that the maximum thermoinduced land subsidence accounts for about 60%of the total *** thermo-induced subsidence is slightly greater in winter than that in summer,and more pronounced near the cold well area than the hot well *** study provides some valuable guidelines for controlling land subsidence caused by ATES systems installed in soft soils.

By considering the influence of renewable energy sources(RESs)integration on multi-area interconnected hybrid power systems,this paper proposes an equivalent input disturbance(EID)-based load frequency control(LFC)strategy,which can effectively overcome the factors of random disturbance,model uncertainties and communication ***,an equivalent mathematical LFC model of an interconnected system is ***,the proposed robust controllers,based on the idea of EID,are designed to suppress the randomness and volatility of the renewable energy grid connection and coordinate the frequency fluctuation of the interconnected power ***,the validity and superiority of the established topology structure and the superiority of the proposed strategy are demonstrated by dynamic time domain response experiments under the condition of high penetration of renewable energy.

Against the backdrop of increasingly serious climate change, researchers are attempting to extend macroscale carbon reduction research to smaller scales. With the rapid development and widespread application of electric vehicles(EVs), an effective approach for carbon reduction based on EVs has the potential to be developed. To coordinate and manage the EV platform in diverse application scenarios, the concept of an on-board nanogrid(OBNG), in which a nanogrid is combined with the EV, is proposed and defined, and the characteristics summarized. A configuration that includes a physical layer with the on-board hardware system;an information layer for logical control, energy management, and communication coordination;and an application layer that can cope with different working environments is proposed. A detailed introduction to the basic architecture and management mode of each layer is provided along with information concerning the relevant technologies for coordinated operation. New ideas and approaches to improve the existing performance are proposed, and finally, combined with a background of smart and low-carbon cities, major application scenarios are envisioned.

Biofilm-associated bacterial infection brings serious threats to global public health owing to serious antibiotic *** is urgently needed to develop innovative strategies to combat biofilm-associated bacterial *** stand out as the last line of defense against Gram-negative ***,serious nephrotoxicity of polymyxins severely limits their clinical ***,a hypoxia-responsive liposome is designed as the nanocarrier of polymyxin B(PMB)to combat biofilms developed by Gram-negative bacteria.A metronidazole modified lipid(hypoxia-responsive lipid(HRLipid))is synthesized to fabricate hypoxia-responsive liposomes(HRLip).PMB loaded hypoxia-responsive liposomes(HRL-PMB)is then prepared to mitigate the nephrotoxicity of PMB while preserving its excellent bactericidal ***-PMB shows very low hemolysis and cytotoxicity due to liposomal encapsulation of *** can be readily released from HRL-PMB in response to hypoxic biofilm microenvironment,exerting its bactericidal activity to realize biofilm *** excellent in vivo antibiofilm ability of HRL-PMB is confirmed by a Pseudomonas aeruginosa infected zebrafish model and a *** pneumonia infection ***,HRL-PMB can greatly reduce the nephrotoxicity of PMB after intravenous *** hypoxia-sensitive liposomes held great promise to improve the biosafety of highly toxic antibiotics while preserving their intrinsic bactericidal ability,which may provide an innovative strategy for combating biofilm-associated infections.

Dear Editor,We have treated two patients of glucocorticoid-induced glaucoma with penetrating canaloplasty(PCP)since *** is a new type internal drainage surgery for glaucoma,which is a bleb-independent filtering surgery combined canaloplasty with trabeculectomy,and the surgery shows a great efficacy of intraocular pressure(IOP)reduction with no surgical *** surgery started with a fornix-based conjunctival flap and double scleral flap,and Schlemm’s canal was opened,a 10-0 prolene suture was positioned and tensioned within Schlemm’s canal,trabucular meshwork segment was excised and peripheral iridectomy was performed,the scleral flap and the conjunctival flap were closed watertight with 10-0 prolene sutures.

During the pupal-adult eclosion process of holometabolous insects,the old cuticle is shed and replaced by a completely different new cuticle that requires tanning and expansion,along with extensive extracellular matrix(ECM)*** vertebrates,matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs),a class of zinc-dependent endopeptidases,play key roles in regulating the ECM that surrounds ***,little is known about these extracellular proteinases available in *** small hive beetle(SHB),Aethina tumida,is a widespread invasive parasite of honey *** this study,6 MMP homologs were identified in the SHB *** interference experiments showed that all 6 AtMmps are not required for the larval-pupal transition,only AtMmp2 was essential for pupal-adult eclosion in *** of AtMmp2 resulted in eclosion defects and wing expansion failure,as well as mortality within 3 d of adult *** analysis revealed that knockdown of AtMmp2 significantly increased expression of the Toll and Imd pathways,chitin metabolism,and cross-linking(such as the pro-phenoloxidase activating cascade pathway and the tyrosine-mediated cuticle sclerotization and pigmentation pathway).These data revealed evolutionarily conserved functions of Mmp2 in controlling adult eclosion and wing expansion,also provided a preliminary exploration of the novel function of regulating Toll and Imd pathways,as well as new insights into how MMPs regulate insect development and defense barriers.
