Epigenetic therapeutics in dental pulp treatment: Hopes, challenges and concerns for the development of next-generation biomaterials

This paper investigates topological transformation during normal grain growth by carrying out a computer vertex simulation. Results show that topological correlation agrees with the models proposed by Blanc et al. and Weaire. Topological transformation occurs more often on grains with some topological classes instead of equal probability on each boundary. This can be qualitatively explained by topological correlation.

The drive for minimally invasive endodontic treatment strategies has shifted focus from technically complex and destructive root canal treatments towards more conservative vital pulp ***,novel approaches to maintaining dental pulp vitality after disease or trauma will require the development of innovative,biologicallydriven regenerative medicine *** example,cell-homing and cell-based therapies have recently been developed in vitro and trialled in preclinical models to study dental pulp *** approaches utilise natural and synthetic scaffolds that can deliver a range of bioactive pharmacological epigenetic modulators(HDACis,DNMTis,and ncRNAs),which are cost-effective and easily applied to stimulate pulp tissue ***,many biological factors hinder the clinical development of regenerative therapies,including a lack of blood supply and poor infection control in the necrotic root canal *** challenges include a need for clinically relevant models and manufacturing challenges such as scalability,cost concerns,and regulatory *** review will describe the current state of bioactive-biomaterial/scaffold-based engineering strategies to stimulate dentine-pulp regeneration,explicitly focusing on epigenetic modulators and therapeutic pharmacological *** will highlight the components of dental pulp regenerative approaches,describe their current limitations,and offer suggestions for the effective translation of novel epigenetic-laden bioactive materials for innovative therapeutics.

Urban Park Soil and Vegetation: Effects of Natural and Anthropogenic factors

Various soil surface components, such as trees, shrubs and biological crusts, and human recreational activities, e.g., barbecues and trampling by visitors, may divide the area of the urban park into smaller fragments/mieroenvironments, differentiated by their microenvironmental conditions, which may differ in soil and vegetation characteristics. The spatial changes in the soil and vegetation characteristics and their causes were investigated in an urban park located south of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel. The area of the park is 0.5 km^2, including groves, a lake, lawns, and rest areas. Soil was sampled in nine microenvironments, of which seven were within the park： under Ceratonia siliqua trees （CsU）, under ficus sycomorus trees （fLU）, rest area between tables under f. sycomorus （fIB）, rest area under tables under f. sycomorus （fIT）, open area with bare soil （OaS）, open area with biological crust cover （OaC）, and open area covered by herbaceous vegetation （OaV）. Two more microenvironments, planar and sloping open areas （CoP and CoS, respectively） in the vicinity of the park, were used as the controls. Electrical conductivity, concentrations of soluble ions （Mg^2＋, Ca^2＋, Na^＋, K^＋ and HCO3）, pH, contents of organic carbon, calcium carbonate and moisture, and grain size distribution were determined. In addition, herbaceous vegetation cover, number and diversity of herbaceous vegetation species were measured. It was found that soil properties and herbaceous vegetation characteristics varied within the park. Soil organic carbon, electrical conductivity, soluble salts, penetration depth, and vegetation characteristics were affected by human activities, mainly in the rest area between the tables. In contrast, the above characteristics were affected by natural factors mainly in the rest of the microenvironments, which were subjected to low levels of anthropogenic intervention. Ternary Ni-Co-fe oxyhydroxide oxygen evolution catalysts:Intrinsic activity trends,electrical conductivity,and electronic band structure

Nickel-,cobalt-,and iron-based(oxy)hydroxides comprise the most-commonly studied electrocatalysts for the oxygen-evolution reaction(OER)in alkaline solution.A fundamental understanding of composition-structure-activity relationships for mixed-metal Ni-Co and Ni-Co-fe(oxy)hydroxides is important to guide the design of advanced OER *** we use cyclic voltammetry,chronopotentiometry,inductively-coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy,and in situ electrical conductivity measurements to characterize the properties and activity of various compositions of Ni-Co-fe(oxy)hydroxides prepared by cathodic *** with previous studies,we find fe is essential for the mixed-metal(oxy)hydroxides to achieve high OER *** the rigorous absence of fe(achieved by using specially cleaned electrolytes),the most-active Ni-Co(oxy)hydroxide composition has an OER turn-over frequency only twice that ofpure Co(oxy)hydroxide,suggesting minimal synergism between the two *** addition of Co to Ni-fe(oxy)hydroxides shifts the onset of electrical conductivity to lower potentials,but has little effect on the intrinsic OER activity,with the most-active Ni-Co-fe(oxy)hydroxide having an OER turn-over frequency only -1.5 times that of the Ni-fe(oxy)*** magnitudes of the electrical conductivities are similar for all the compositions ***-functional-theory-calculated projected density of states show a significant contribution of all chemical elements at the valence band edge of the mixed-metal oxyhydroxide electronic structure,demonstrating significant electronic hybridization between the *** calculations suggest the involvement of all the elements in modulating the electronic structure at putative fe-based active sites that are probably located at edges or defects in the two-dimensional oxyhydroxide sheets.
