Background: Previous research in both calves and other species has suggested n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA) and β-glucans may have positive effects on immune function. This experiment measured performance,behaviour, metabolite and immunological responses to pre-weaning supplementation of dairy bull calves with n-3 PUFA in the form of fish oil and β-glucans derived from seaweed extract. 44 Holstein Friesian bull calves, aged 13.7± 2.5 d and weighing 48.0 ± 5.8 kg were artificially reared using an electronic feeding system. Each calf was offered5 L(120 g/L) per day of milk replacer(MR) and assigned to one of four treatments included in the MR,(1) Control(CON);(2) 40 g n-3 PUFA per day(FO);(3) 1 g β-glucans per day(GL) and(4) 40 g n-3 PUFA per day & 1 g/d β-glucans(FOGL) in a 2 × 2 factorial design. Milk replacer and concentrate was offered from d 0–62(pre-weaning),while concentrate provision continued for a further 31 d post-weaning period. Individual daily feed intake and feeding behaviour was recorded throughout, while bodyweight and blood analyte data were collected at regular ***: Overall mean concentrate dMI from d 0–93 was 1.39, 1.27, 1.00 and 0.72 kg/d for CON, FO, GL and FOGL calves, respectively(SEM = 0.037;P d with GL were significantly lighter(P d 62) and turnout to pasture(d 93) than un-supplemented calves, with a similar effect(P dent for calves receiving FO compared to un-supplemented contemporaries. The aim of this work is to study the diversity of phytoplanktonic from some fresh and brackish waters. The methodology employed consisted of sampling the organisms using the Van dorn bottle at the surface (0.5 m) of fresh and sea waters from Container Terminal from San-Pedro Port Area (CTSP) during June and July 2021 and Ebrié Lagoon in June 2023. A total of 324 taxa were collected with 274 taxa for CTSP and 82 taxa for Ebrié Lagoon. The identified phyla were, in order of importance, the Bacillariophyta (151 taxa), dinophyta (80 taxa), Euglenophyta (34 taxa), Chlorophyta (31 taxa), Chrysophyta (12 taxa), Cyanobacteria (11 taxa), Cryptophyta and Rhodophyta with 2 taxa respectively and Ochrophyta (1 taxon). In the CTSP, the species Prorocentrum lima and Prorocentrum micans have contributed to the highest number of the taxa during the first mission, but with low contribution during the second mission. At this mission, the contribution of the dinophyta Protoperidinium quinquecorne and the Bacillariophyta Melosira spp., Coscinodiscus nodulifer, Thalassionema frauenfeldii and Thalassionema nitzschioides was revealed. The Ebrié Lagoon was characterized by the high contribution of the species Cyclotella meneghianana during the sampling mission. As a recommendation, we propose the monitoring in time and space of toxin-producing species and the evaluation of their toxins that could constitute a risk for the fishery, recreational and commercial activities, and the ecosystems studied providing important ecosystem and economic services.

In this thesis,I have studied how the growing Chinese presence in the traditional French sphere of influence that is Francophone Africa,has impacted the way Paris conducts its Foreign *** since its defeat in 1870,France has sought to regain its grandeur and global rank which has been exacerbated by the Second World ***,it has always relied heavily on its colonies to maintain its rank on the world *** decades,France managed to retain its influence in Francophone Africa and Franco-African relations did not change much despite the major changes that have affected the world order such as decolonization and the end of the cold *** is,however,after the Chinese presence grew stronger on the continent that the French African Policy towards Francophone Africa changed more *** is why,in order to pursue its foreign policy goals of maintaining a global rank and（residual）great power role,France had to adjust its African ***’s survival in its former sphere of influence could only be realized by Europeanizing a part of its African policy and thus benefit from the European multiplier ***,by promoting human and sustainable investments with a focus on young entrepreneurs,France is trying to differentiate itself from all the other *** implementing these new strategies,the French Nation can continue to rely on Africa to pursue its great power aspirations and in the process contain the Chinese presence in Francophone Africa.

Nowadays, biodegradable polymers such as poly(lactic acid)(PLA), poly(d,L-lactic-coglycolic acid)(PLGA) and poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL) remain the most common biomaterials to produce drug-loaded nanoparticles(NPs). Pipemidic acid(PIP) is a poorly soluble antibiotic with a strong tendency to crystallize. PIP incorporation in PLA/PLGA NPs was challenging because of PIP crystals formation and burst release. As PIP had a poor affinity for the NPs, an alternative approach to encapsulation was used, consisting in coupling PIP to PCL. Thus, a PCL–PIP conjugate was successfully synthesized by an original drug-initiated polymerization in a single step without the need of ***–PIP was characterized by NMR, IR, SEC and mass spectrometry. PCL–PIP was used to prepare selfassembled NPs with PIP contents as high as 27%(w/w). The NPs were characterized by microscopy,dLS, NTA and TRPS. This study paves the way towards the production of NPs with high antibiotic payloads by drug-initiated polymerization. Further studies will deal with the synthesis of novel polymer–PIP conjugates with ester bonds between the drug and PCL. PIP can be considered as a model drug and the strategy developed here could be extended to other challenging antibiotics or anticancer drugs and employed to efficiently incorporate them in NPs.

Approximately 50%of breast cancer patients under hormone therapy experience osteoarticular pain,which increases the risk of treatment discontinuation and *** aim of the study was to assess the feasibility of yoga practice associated with patient education(PE)for at-home practice in breast cancer patients under hormone *** also evaluated osteoarticular pain,flexibility and patients’*** this study,intervention was split into two 6-week periods(P):P1 consisting of a supervised yoga-PE session of 90 minutes/week and 15-minutes of daily at-home yoga,and P2,involving daily autonomous athome yoga *** was evaluated by patient adherence defined as completion of at least 4 out of the 6 supervised yoga-PE sessions and 70%or more of the at-home yoga ***(at inclusion and at the end of each period)consisted in assessment of osteoarticular pain,forward flexibility and patient ***-four women with a median age of 53 years[36–72]were *** was validated with a successful adherence rate reaching 83%,combined with a mean satisfaction score of 10/10[8–10].In addition,58%of patients reported reduced osteoarticular pain,with a 2-point reduction on the numerical rating *** forward flexibility also improved,with a median gain of 8 *** physiotherapy-yoga-PE intervention is a feasible strategy,increasing at-home yoga practice with potential benefit on pain,flexibility,and patient *** of this innovative program is ongoing in a larger randomized multicenter trial.

Comparison of the use of wireless capsule endoscopy with magnetic resonance enterography in children with inflammatory bowel disease

BACKGROUNd Magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) and wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) are equally accepted modalities for noninvasive screening of small bowel involvement (SBI) in children with Crohn’s disease (Cd) and indeterminate colitis (IC) albeit there is a paucity of data comparing the two and thereby guiding the clinician in selecting the ideal diagnostic approach. Therefore, the goal of this study is to provide additional evidence for capsule endoscopy role in the evaluation of established Crohn’s disease exacerbation compared to MRE in relation to Pediatric Crohn's disease Activity Index (PCdAI), and histological indices. AIM To prospectively compare the findings of MRE and WCE and their agreement with PCdAI or histology in children with Cd or IC. METHOdS Consecutive patients diagnosed with Cd and IC were screened for inclusion. After informed consent, patient’s demographic and clinical data was abstracted. The current pediatric disease activity index (PCdAI) and endoscopic findings were included. Patients underwent MRE and WCE including preprocedural patency capsule within a maximum of 7 d of each other. Pathological presence of active small bowel disease in ileal and duodenal biopsies were collected if the endoscopy was performed within 2 mo of the WCE study. Patients who failed to pass the PC were excluded from the study. WCE was read by two different experienced gastroenterologists (Attard TM and Colombo JM) blinded to each other's findings and to the findings on MRE (Mardis NJ). Agreement between WCE reviewers, WCE and MRE findings and concordance between positive PCdAI and SBI based on MRE compared with WCE was computed. RESULTS Forty-five patients were included in the study, 18 withdrew and 27 (20 males and 20 Cd), mean age (standard deviation) 13.46 (2.4) years, completed the study protocol.
