In this study, we propose complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor （CMOS） NOR logic gates consisting of silicon nanowire （NW） arrays on bendable substrates. A circuit consisting of two p-channel NW field-effect transistors （NWFETs） in series and two n-channel NWFETs in parallel is constructed to operate a two- input CMOS NOR logic gate. The NOR logic gates operate at a low supply voltage of 1 V with a rail-to-rail logic swing and a high voltage gain of approximately -3.0. The exact NOR logic functionality is achieved owing to the superior electrical characteristics of the well-aligned p- and n-NWFETs, which are obtained using conventional Si-based CMOS technology. Moreover, the NOR logic gates exhibit stable characteristics and have good mechanical properties. The proposed bendable NW CMOS NOR logic gates are promising building blocks for future bendable integrated electronics.

Measurements of Formaldehyde and TVOC Emission from Paints and Coating Materials using Small Chamber Method for Building Composites

An optimal test method for paint is proposed; additionally, the Field and Laboratory Emission Cell （FLEC） method used in Europe is applied as a substitute for the 20 L small chamber method. The emission factors of total volatile organic compounds （TVOC） and formaldehyde from oil-based paint, emulsion paint, and water-dispersion paint with a coating weight of 300 g/m2, cured for 24/48 hours, were measured using the 20 L small chamber method. The emission rate of TVOC and formaldehyde from all paints began to stabilize after approximately 7 days after 24/48 hours of curing even though Korean standards stipulate that paint should be measured and analyzed after the third day of application. The emission factor of TVOC and formaldehyde from oil-based, emulsion, and water-dispersion paints were also measured using the FLEC method. There was good correlation between the 20 L small chamber method and the FLEC method for oil-based, emulsion, and water-dispersion paint emissions. With the FLEC method, using paints prepared under identical conditions, the emission rate was stable 24 hours after installation of samples because the air flow rate of FLEC is much higher than that of a 20 L small chamber, and the relative cell volume of FLEC is much smaller than that of a 20 L small chamber.

We have developed a new nanofilter using a carbon nanotube-silver composite material that is capable of efficiently removing waterborne viruses and *** nanofilter was subjected to plasma surface treatment to enhance its flow rate,which was improved by approximately 62%.Nanoscale pores were obtained by fabricating a carbon nanotube network and using nanoparticle fixation technology for the removal of *** pore size of the nanofilter was approximately 38 nm and the measured flow rate ranged from 21.0 to 97.2 L/（min·m^2）under a pressure of 1–6 kgf/cm^2 when the amount of loaded carbon nanotube-silver composite was 1.0 mg/cm^*** nanofilter was tested against Polio-,Noro-,and Coxsackie viruses using a sensitive real-time polymerase chain reaction assay to detect the presence of viral particles within the *** trace of viruses was found to flow through the nanofilter with carbon nanotube-silver composite loaded above 0.8 mg/cm^***,the surface of the filter has antibacterial properties to prevent bacterial clogging due to the presence of 20-nm silver nanoparticles,which were synthesized on the carbon nanotube surface.

Failure Modes of Lead Free Solder Bumps Formed by Induction Spontaneous Heating Reflow

The shear failure modes and respective failure mechanism of Sn3.5Ag and Sn3.0Ag0.5Cu lead-free solder bumping on Au/Ni/Cu metallization formed by induction spontaneous heating reflow process have been investigated through the shear test after aging at 120℃ for 0, 1, 4, 9 and 16 d. Different typical shear failure behaviors have been found in the loading curves （shear force vs displacement）. From the results of interracial morphology analysis of the fracture surfaces and cross-sections, two main typical failure modes have been identified. The probabilities of the failure modes occurrence are inconsistent when the joints were aged for different times. The evolution of the brittle NiaSn4 and Cu-Ni-Au-Sn layers and the grains coarsening of the solder bulk are the basic reasons for the change of shear failure modes.

Endemic plants are important for understanding phylogenetic relationships,biogeographical history,and genetic variation because of their restricted distribution and their role in conserving ***,we investigated the phylogenetic relationships of the Korean endemic Fraxinus chiisanensis by reconstructing the molecular phylogeny of Fraxinus based on two nuclear DNA(nrITS and phantastica)and two chloroplast DNA(psbA-trnH and rp132-trnL)*** our fossil-calibrated phylogenetic framework,we also inferred the biogeographical history of *** provide a scientific basis for the conservation of ***,we determined the levels of genetic diversity and genetic differentiation in this *** information from nuclear and chloroplast DNA sequence data,our molecular phylogenetic analyses identified *** as a genetically distinct unit from its sister group,Fraxinus platypoda from *** molecular dating analyses using nuclear and chloroplast DNA data sets show *** diverged from its sister *** in the Early or Middle Miocene and differentiated in the Late Miocene on the Korean *** results suggest that the divergence of *** was associated with the submergence of the East China Sea land bridge and enhanced monsoons in East *** compared to ***,*** exhibits low genetic diversity within populations and high genetic differentiation among *** results help us to understand the evolutionary history of *** and to develop a conservation strategy for this species.

Gallbladder Removal Simulation for Laparoscopic Surgery Training: A Hybrid Modeling Method

Laparoscopic surgery has many advantages, but it is difficult for a surgeon to achieve the necessary surgical skills. Recently, virtual training simulations have been gaining interest because they can provide a safe and efficient learning environment for medical students and novice surgeons. In this paper, we present a hybrid modeling method for simulating gallbladder removal that uses both the boundary element method （BEM） and the finite element method （FEM）. Each modeling method is applied according to the deformable properties of human organs： BEM for the liver and FEM for the gallbladder. Connective tissues between the liver and the gallbladder are also included in the surgical simulation. Deformations in the liver and the gallbladder models are transferred via connective tissue springs using a mass-spring method. Special effects and techniques are developed to achieve realistic simulations, and the software is integrated into a custom-designed haptic interface device. Various computer graphical techniques are also applied in the virtual gallbladder removal laparoscopic surgery training. The detailed techniques and the results of the simulations are described in this paper.
