Influence of extraction solvents on antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the pulp and seed of Anisophyllea laurina *** Sabine fruits

Objective:To evaluate the influence of extraction solvents on antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the pulp and seed of Anisophyllea laurina *** Sabine ***:The antibacterial activities of pulp and seed extracts were tested by using disk diffusion method against eight bacterial strains and three fungal *** phenolic,flavonoid,monomeric anthocyanin and tannin contents,and antioxidant activities were determined by spectrometric ***:The antioxidant analysis of pulp extract revealed the strong radical scavenging capacity and total phenolic content(4 329.66 mg of gallic acid/100 g),while seed extract showed the high antioxidant activity and total tannin content(5 326.78 mg catechin equivalent/100 g).Antibacterial and antifungal activities of methanol and ethanol extracts exhibited potent growth inhibitory activity against Aeromonas hydrophila,Bacillus subtilis,Escherichia coli O157:H7,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Salmonella Typhimurium and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 with minimum inhibitory concentration values ranged from 125 to 250 μg/***,seed extract had the strongest potential activity against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans with minimum inhibitory concentration value of 500 μg/mL compared to pulp ***:Our results therefore demonstrated that ethanol and methanol extractions were more efficient in extracting antioxidants and bioactive compound in pulp and *** results support that these plant extracts can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections.

When exploring the temporal and spatial change law of ocean environment, the most common method used is using smaller-scale observed data to derive the change law for a larger-scale system. For instance, using 30-year observation data to derive 100-year return period design wave height. Therefore, the study of inherent self-similarity in ocean hydrological elements becomes increasingly important to the study of multi-year return period design wave height derivation. In this paper, we introduced multifractal to analyze the statistical characteristics of wave height series data observed from oceanic hydrological station. An improvement is made to address the existing problems of the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) method, where trend function showed a discontinuity between intervals. The improved MFDFA method is based on signal mode decomposition, replacing piecewise polynomial fitting used in the original method. We applied the proposed method to the wave height data collected at Chaolian Island, Shandong, China, from 1963 to 1989 and was able to conclude the wave height sequence presented weak multi-fractality. This result provided strong support to the past research on the derivation of multi-year return period design wave height with observed data. Moreover, the new method proposed in this paper also provides a new perspective to explore the intrinsic characteristic of data.

Senescent endothelial cells (ECs) could impair the integrity of the blood vessel endothelium, leading to vascular aging and a series of diseases, such as atherosclerosis, diabetes. Preventing or mitigating EC senescence might serve as a promising therapeutic paradigm for these diseases. Recent studies showed that small extracellular vesicles (sEV) have the potential to transfer bioactive molecules into recipient cells and induce phenotypic changes. Since mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have long been postulated as an important source cell in regenerative medicine, herein we investigated the role and mechanism of MSC-derived sEV (MSC-sEV) on EC senescence. In vitro results showed that MSC-sEV reduced senescent biomarkers, decreased senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), rescued angiogenesis, migration and other dysfunctions in senescent EC induced by oxidative stress. In the In vivo natural aging and type-2 diabetes mouse wound-healing models (both of which have senescent ECs), MSC-sEV promoted wound closure and new blood vessel formation. Mechanically, miRNA microarray showed that miR-146a was highly expressed in MSC-sEV and also upregulated in EC after MSC-sEV treatment. miR-146a inhibitors abolished the stimulatory effects of MSC-sEV on senescence. Moreover, we found miR-146a could suppress Src phosphorylation and downstream targets VE-cadherin and Caveolin-1. Collectively, our data indicate that MSC-sEV mitigated endothelial cell senescence and stimulate angiogenesis through miR-146a/Src.

In this work, we synthesized the polypyrrole（PPy） modified gold nanoparticles and demonstrated their negligible cytotoxicity in vitro. These nanoparticles have also been demonstrated to efficiently ablate different kinds of tumor cells in vitro under the irradiation of the near-infrared laser. When the PPy modified gold nanoparticles were conjugated with the tumor-targeted molecule of 15P（sequence： SHSWHWLPNLRHYAS）, these conjugates displayed hyperthermia effects on the human ovarian cancer cell line SK-OV-3 cells in vitro under the irradiation of near-infrared laser, showing great tumor-targeted treatment efficiency. To determine the potential hyperthermia effect of PPy modified gold nanoparticles or 15P-conjugate on tumor cells in vivo, the SK-OV-3 cells were used to induce the subcutaneous tumor-bearing nude mice. The significant inhibition effects of near-infrared laser mediated PPy modified gold nanoparticles or 15P-conjugate on the tumor growth were observed. These composite results suggest that the 15P-conjugated PPy modified gold nanoparticles exhibit great biocompatibility, particularly tumor-targeted effect and the effective photothermal ablation of tumor cells, which warrants the potential therapeutic value of this conjugate for further application to the in vivo localized tumor therapy.

Reactive ion etching was used to etch barium strontium titanate thin films in a CHF3/Ar *** surfaces before and after etching were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to investigate the reaction ion etching mechanism,and chemical reactions had occurred between the F plasma and the Ba,Sr and Ti metal *** of these metals were formed and remained on the surface during the etching *** was almost completely removed because the TiF4 by-product is *** quantities of Ti?F could still be detected by narrow scan X-ray photoelectron spectra,and Ti?F was thought to be present in the form of a *** species were investigated from O1s spectra,and a fluoride-rich surface was formed during ***2 and SrF2 residues were difficult to remove because of their high boiling *** etching rate was limited to 12.86 nm/min.C?F polymers were not found on the surface,indicating that the removal of BaF2 and SrF2 was important for further etching.A 1-min Ar/15 plasma physical sputtering was carried out for every 4 min of surface etching,which effectively removed remaining surface *** chemical reaction and sputtered etching is an effective etching method for barium strontium titanate films.

Bio-mimicking graphene films,deposited on textured nickel substrates,were synthesized by the following method:replicating the surface textures of the lotus leaf by polymer duplication,fabricating textured nickel substrates by electroplating on the polymer coated with a Au film,preparing bio-mimicking graphene oxide films on the nickel substrates by vacuum filtration,and electrochemical *** controlling the vacuum filtration,this replica method can not only replicate the lotus leaf structure by a graphene film,but also can achieve a novel cell-like graphene film.

Lithium batteries have been essential technologies and become an integral part of our daily lives, powering a range of devices from phones to electric vehicles. To fully understand and optimize the performance of lithium batteries, it is necessary to investigate their internal states and processes through various characterization methods. Neutron imaging has been an indispensable complementary characterization technique to X-ray imaging or electron microscopy because of the unique interaction principle between neutrons and matter. It provides particular insights into the various states of matter inside lithium batteries,including the Li+concentration in solid electrodes, the Li plating/stripping behavior of Li-metal anodes,the Li+diffusion in solid ionic conductors, the distribution of liquid electrolytes and the generation of *** review aims to highlight the capabilities and advantages of neutron imaging in characterizing lithium batteries, as well as its current state of application in this field. Additionally, we discuss the potential of neutron imaging to contribute to the ongoing development of advanced batteries through its ability to visualize internal evolution.
