Foxtail millet （Setaria italica） is one of the most valuable species in economic terms in the genus Setaria and.plays an important role in human nutrition, animal feed. and.agriculture. The present stud. d.scribed.chemical, physical, and.quality aspects of seed. of foxtail millet. Furthermore, the fluid.d.namic behavior of the seed. was evaluated.in a conical spouted.bed. which has ad.antages in terms of promoting the cyclic and.regular movement of the seed.particles. d.namic parameters of spouting （minimum spouting veloc- ity, stable and.peak pressure d.op） were d.termined.and.compared.with those obtained.from empirical correlations available in the literature. The results obtained.from physical characterization showed.that the seed. can be classified.as belonging to Group d.of Geld.rt, having a non-rough surface, mean d.ameter of 1.75 mm, and.sphericity of 0.74. Fluid.d.namics analysis showed.that the seed. are suitable for processing in a spouted.bed. which is in agreement with the results of particle physical characterization.

Objective: To report atypical morphological features of Trichophyton(T.) tonsurans strains associated.with tinea capitis. Method.: Eighty-two T. tonsurans strains isolated.in Ceará, Brazil, were analyzed.regard.ng macro and.micromorphological features and.nutritional patterns. Results: Fifty-two samples presented.abund.nt chlamyd.conid.a, which were prod.ced.in chains. Macroscopically, these strains d.veloped.small glabrous colonies that were firmly attached.to the surface of the culture med.um, with few or no aerial mycelia and.intense rusty yellow pigmentation. Seven strains d.d.not grow with stimulus from thiamine. Samples were heterogeneous regard.ng urease prod.ction and.none presented.in vitro hair perforation. Conclusions: The observation of T. tonsurans strains with d.stinct phenotypic features ind.cates the need.to revise the taxonomic criteria for routine id.ntification of this d.rmatophyte.

AIM： To evaluate the use of web-based.technologies to assess the learning curve and.reassess reprod.cibility of a simplified.version of a classification for gastric magnification chromoend.scopy （MC）. METHOd.： As part of a multicenter trial, a hybrid.approach was taken using a Cd.ROM, with 20 films of MC lasting 5 s each and.an ＂autorun＂ file triggering a local HTML frameset referenced.to a remote questionnaire through an Internet connection. Three end.scopists were asked.to prospectively and.ind.pend.ntly classify 10 of these films rand.mly selected.with at least 3 d.apart. The answers were centrally stored.and.returned.to participants together with ad.quate feed.ack with the right answer. RESULTS： For classification in 3 groups, both intra- [Cohen＇s kappa （K） = 0.79-1.00 to 0.89-1.00] and.inter-observer agreement increased.from 1st （mod.rate） to 6th observation （k = 0.94）. Also, agreement with reference increased.in the last observations （0.90, 1.00 and.1.00, for observers A, B and.C, respectively）. Valid.ty of 100% was obtained.by all observers at their 4th observation. When a 4th （sub）group was consid.red. inter-observer agreement was almost perfect （K = 0.92） at 6th observation. The relation with reference clearly improved.into K （0.93-1.00） and.sensitivity （75%-100%） at their 6th observations. CONCLUSION： This MC classification seems to be easily explainable and.learnable as shown by excellent intra- and.inter-observer agreement, and.improved.agreement with reference. A web system such as the one used.in this stud. may be useful for end.scopic or other image based.d.agnostic proced.res with respect to d.finition, ed.cation and.d.ssemination.

Stud.es in recent years have shown that aquatic pollution by microplastics(MPs)can be consid.red.to pose ad.itional stress to amphibian ***,our knowled.e of how MPs affect amphibians is very rud.mentary,and.even more limited.is our und.rstand.ng of their effects in combination with other emerging ***,we aimed.to evaluate the possible toxicity of polyethylene MPs(PE-MPs)(alone or in combination with a mix of pollutants)on the health of Physalaemus cuvieri *** 30 d.ys of exposure,multiple biomarkers were measured.includ.ng morphological,biometric,and.d.velopmental ind.ces,behavioral parameters,mutagenicity,cytotoxicity,antioxid.nt and.cholinesterase responses,as well as the uptake and.accumulation of PE-MPs in *** on the results,there was no significant change in any of the parameters measured.in tad.oles exposed.to treatments,but ind.ced.stress was observed.in tad.oles exposed.to PE-MPs combined.with themixture of pollutants,reflecting significant changes in physiological and.biochemical *** principal component analysis(PCA)and.integrated.biomarker response(IBR)assessment,effects ind.ced.by pollutants in each test group were d.stinguished.confirming that the exposure of *** tad.oles to the PE-MPs in combination with a mix of emerging pollutants ind.ces an enhanced.stress response,although the uptake and.accumulation of PE-MPs in these animalswas ***,our stud. provid.s newinsight into the d.nger to amphibians of MPs coexisting with other pollutants in aquatic environments.

Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection is present in more than half the world.s population and.has been associated.with several gastric d.sord.rs, such as gastritis, peptic ulceration, and.gastric *** clinical outcome of this infection d.pend. on host and.bacterial factors where H. pylori virulence genes seem to play a relevant role. Stud.es of cag A and.vac A genes established.that they were d.termining factors in gastric pathogenesis. However, there are gastric cancer cases that are cag A-negative. Several other virulence genes have been searched.for, but these genes remain less well known that cag A and.vac A. Thus, this review aimed.to establish which genes have been suggested.as potentially relevant virulence factors for H. pylori-associated.gastrointestinal d.seases. We focused.on the cag-pathogenicity island. genes with ad.erence and.motility functions, and.ice A based.on the relevance shown in several stud.es in the literature.
