The Arabidopsis phosphoinositide kinases PI4Kβ1 and PIP5K5 have been implicated in the control of directional vesicle trafficking underlying polar tip growth in pollen tubes. PI4Kβ1 and PIP5K5 catalyze key consecutive steps of phosphoinositide conversion, and it appears obvious that phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate formed by PI4Kβ1 might act as a substrate for phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate formation by PIP5K5. However, this hypothesis has not been experimentally addressed and distinct localization patterns of PI4Kβ1, PIP5K5, and also PI-synthases （PIS） generating phosphatidylinositol suggest additional complexity. Here, the synergistic functionality of enzymes of phosphoinositide conversion was assessed. In tobacco and Arabidopsis pollen tubes, phosphoinositides influence the apical secretion of pectin, and increased pectin deposition results in characteristic morphological alterations. Catalytically active and dominant negative variants of PI4Kβ1 and PIP5K5 were systematically co-expressed in tobacco pollen tubes and the incidence of morphologies related to enhanced pectin secretion was evaluated. The data support a proposed functional interplay of PI4Kβ1 and PIP5K5 at the trans-Golgi network, mediating directional vesicle trafficking. Co-expression experiments additionally including PIS isoforms, PIS1 or PIS2, indicate that pectin secretion is synergistically mediated by PI4Kβ1 and PIPSK5 acting on Ptdlns formed by PIS2 rather than PIS1. Possible ramifications for the preferential channeling of phosphoinositide intermediates between particular isoforms of PI pathway enzymes are discussed.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of cycling in combination with electroacupuncture in treatment of poststroke hemiplegia patients at National Hospital of Acupuncture,Vietnam.METHODS:The study was designed as a single-centre,outcome-assessor-blinded parallel randomised controlled trial with 120 post-stroke hemiplegia patients randomly assigned into two groups:electroacupuncture plus cycling(CT group) and electroacupuncture(AT group).Patients were assessed before and after the treatment(using muscle grading,modified Rankin,Barthel,Orgorozo scores and electromyography).Statistical Man–Whitney U test,and Fisher’s exact tests were used to compare between CT and AT groups.RESULTS:The results reported statistically significant improvement in motor function in patients suffering from hemiplegia following ischemic stroke in both CT and AT groups.Patients in CT group experienced a greater improvement compared to those in AT group including better muscle contraction(increased frequency and amplitude of electromyography and increased muscle grading scale);increased recovery(Orgogozo scale),increased independency(Barthel scale) and decreased disability(Modified Rankin scale)(P < 0.01).CONCLUSIONS:Combination with cycling training significantly improves the recovery of post-stroke patients treated with electroacupuncture.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy of bee venom acupuncture in humeroscapularis(PHS)patients.METHODS:One hundred and twenty patients diagnosed with PHS were assigned into four groups:BV1(0.01 mg/kg),BV2(0.005 mg/kg),BV3(0.0025 mg/kg),and control group(vitamin B1 plus novocain 3%injection)with 15 d of treatment.The outcomes of the study including visual analogue scale(VAS)score andβ-endorphin,inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-10(IL-10),IL-1βand tumor necrosis factorα(TNF-α)and shoulder function score were assessed at baseline,after 10 and 15 d of treatment.RESULTS:All four groups reported statistically significant improvement in VAS score,motion range,and shoulder function score(P<0.01),only the BV3 group showed significant increase of anti-inflammatory(IL-10)and decrease of pro-inflammatory(IL-1β,TNF-α)cytokines after treatment(P<0.05).The BV3 group presented a significant difference between all outcomes compared to the control and other groups.CONCLUSION:BV3 groups showed better recovery including reduced pain,improved motor function and normalized inflammatory cytokines than current therapy used in Vietnam and other groups.

Dimensionality reduction and prediction of soil consolidation coefficient using random forest coupling with Relief algorithm

The consolidation coefficient of soil(C_(v))is a crucial parameter used for the design of structures leaned on soft soi.In general,the C_(v) is determined experimentally in the laboratory.However,the experimental tests are time-consuming as well as expensive.Therefore,researchers tried several ways to determine C_(v) via other simple soil parameters.In this study,we developed a hybrid model of Random Forest coupling with a Relief algorithm(RF-RL)to predict the C_(v) of soil.To conduct this study,a database of soil parameters collected from a case study region in Vietnam was used for modeling.The performance of the proposed models was assessed via statistical indicators,namely Coefficient of determination(R^(2)),Root Mean Squared Error(RMSE),and Mean Absolute Error(MAE).The proposal models were constructed with four sets of soil variables,including 6,7,8,and 13 inputs.The results revealed that all models performed well with a high performance(R^(2)>0.980).Although the RF-RL model with 13 variables has the highest prediction accuracy(R^(2)=0.9869),the difference compared with other models was negligible(i.e.,R^(2)=0.9824,0.9850,0.9825 for the cases with 6,7,8 inputs,respectively).Thus,it can be concluded that the hybrid model of RF-RL can be employed to predict C_(v) based on the basic soil parameters.

Analyzing the inconsistency in driving patterns between manual and autonomous modes under complex driving scenarios with a VR-enabled simulation platform

Purpose–With the aid of naturalistic simulations,this paper aims to investigate human behavior during manual and autonomous driving modes in complex scenarios.Design/methodology/approach–The simulation environment is established by integrating virtual reality interface with a micro-simulation model.In the simulation,the vehicle autonomy is developed by a framework that integrates artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms.Humansubject experiments are carried,and participants are asked to virtually sit in the developed autonomous vehicle(AV)that allows for both human driving and autopilot functions within a mixed traffic environment.Findings–Not surprisingly,the inconsistency is identified between two driving modes,in which the AV’s driving maneuver causes the cognitive bias and makes participants feel unsafe.Even though only a shallow portion of the cases that the AV ended up with an accident during the testing stage,participants still frequently intervened during the AV operation.On a similar note,even though the statistical results reflect that the AV drives under perceived high-risk conditions,rarely an actual crash can happen.This suggests that the classic safety surrogate measurement,e.***.time-tocollision,may require adjustment for the mixed traffic flow.Research limitations/implications–Understanding the behavior of AVs and the behavioral difference between AVs and human drivers are important,where the developed platform is only the first effort to identify the critical scenarios where the AVs might fail to react.Practical implications–This paper attempts to fill the existing research gap in preparing close-to-reality tools for AV experience and further understanding human behavior during high-level autonomous driving.Social implications–This work aims to systematically analyze the inconsistency in driving patterns between manual and autopilot modes in various driving scenarios(i.***.multiple scenes and various traffic conditions)to facilitate user acceptance of AV technology.Originality/value–A close

冷战后的世界国际关系发生了深刻、根本的变化。全球化、科技竞赛、力量对比变化、非传统安全、全球性热点和不稳定性、不可预知性因素等问题将持续在国际政治中继续产生强烈的影响,其中建设和提升国家软实力的问题在国际关系中变得越来越重要。这些年来,中国迅速发展,有西方学者认为,“中国崛起为一个大国将成为21世纪国际关系当中最为确定的发展趋势之一”。中国的崛起引起了世界各大国的关注,但同时也将该国推到了舆论的风口浪尖,成为大国与其邻国的“威胁”。在这样的背景下,中国开始对政策进行调整,在加强硬实力的同时,中国还将目光投放了软实力,且聚焦在文化软实力上。对于文化软实力的建设与传播,一般国家都会选择从邻国入手,中国也不例外。尤其是曾受到来自中国文化、语言、宗教、思想、政治体制等方面影响的东南亚国家。作为东盟的成员,中国的邻国,同时也是通往东南亚的门户——越南,其成为了中国对外提升文化软实力非常重要的一个国家。研究中国文化软实力在越南的发展对双方未来的关系有很大的意义。本论文以约瑟夫·奈的软实力和文化软实力理论为基础,阐述中国文化软实力的概念、内涵及文化软实力对中国发展强大和中越关系的重要性。本文章主要研究中国文化软实力在越南的建设背景、发展现状,包括所获得的成就和所面临的局限。从而对中国文化软实力在越南的发展以及对中越两国关系带来一定的思考和建议,提供一定的学术参考价值。

Propagation Path Loss Models at 28 GHz Using K-Nearest Neighbor Algorithm

In this paper,we develop and apply K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm to propagation pathloss regression.The path loss models present the dependency of attenuation value on distance using machine learning algorithms based on the experimental data.The algorithm is performed by choosing k nearest points and training dataset to find the optimal k value.The proposed method is applied to impove and adjust pathloss model at 28 GHz in Keangnam area,Hanoi,Vietnam.The experiments in both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight scenarios used many combinations of transmit and receive antennas at different transmit antenna heights and random locations of receive antenna have been carried out using Wireless Insite Software.The results have been compared with 3GPP and NYU Wireless Path Loss Models in order to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

The recent outbreak of the coronavirus disease of 2019(Covid-19)has been causing many disruptions among the education systems worldwide,most of them due to the abrupt transition to online learning.The sudden upsurge in digital electronic devices usage,namely personal computers,laptops,tablets and smart-phones is unprecedented,which leads to a new wave of both mental and physical health problems among students,for example eye-related illnesses.The overexpo-sure to electronic devices,extended screen time usage and lack of outdoor sun-light have put a consequential strain on the student’s ophthalmic health because of their young age and a relative lack of responsibility on their own health.Failure to take appropriate external measures to mitigate the negative effects of this pro-cess could lead to common ophthalmic illnesses such as myopia or more serious conditions.To remedy this situation,we propose a software solution that is able to track and capture images of its users’eyes to detect symptoms of eye illnesses while simultaneously giving them warnings and even offering treatments.To meet the requirements of a small and light model that is operable on low-end devices without information loss,we optimized the original MobileNetV2 model with depth-wise separable convolutions by altering the parameters in the last layers with an aim to minimize the resizing of the input image and obtained a new model which we call EyeNet.Combined with applying the knowledge distillation tech-nique and ResNet-18 as a teacher model to train the student model,we have suc-cessfully increased the accuracy of the EyeNet model up to 87.16%and support the development of a model compatible with embedded systems with limited computing power,accessible to all students.

An Efficient Adaptive Hierarchical Sliding Mode Control Strategy Using Neural Networks for 3D Overhead Cranes

In this paper, a new adaptive hierarchical sliding mode control scheme for a 3D overhead crane system is proposed. A controller is first designed by the use of a hierarchical structure of two first-order sliding surfaces represented by two actuated and un-actuated subsystems in the bridge crane. Parameters of the controller are then intelligently estimated, where uncertain parameters due to disturbances in the 3D overhead crane dynamic model are proposed to be represented by radial basis function networks whose weights are derived from a Lyapunov function. The proposed approach allows the crane system to be robust under uncertainty conditions in which some uncertain and unknown parameters are highly difficult to determine. Moreover, stability of the sliding surfaces is proved to be guaranteed. Effectiveness of the proposed approach is then demonstrated by implementing the algorithm in both synthetic and reallife systems, where the results obtained by our method are highly promising.

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Solanum procumbens on complete Freund’s adjuvantinduced arthritis rat models.Methods:We isolated and identified five compounds in the ethanolsoluble Solanum procumbens extract(SP)with anti-inflammatory effects,including ursolic acid,β-sitosterol,hexadecanoic acid,cisvaccenic acid,and vanillic acid.Additionally,we investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of SP on rheumatoid arthritis symptoms,including paw volumes,local temperatures,withdrawal latency,and mechanical withdrawal threshold at the hind paw and white blood cell(WBC)number from complete Freund’s adjuvant-induced arthritis rat models.Results:We have successfully established a complete Freund’s adjuvant-induced arthritis rat model at a low dose(1 mg/mL).SP extract significantly reduced paw volumes(P<0.05),prolonged withdrawal latencies(P<0.05),decreased local temperature,and increased the mechanical withdrawal threshold(P<0.05),but only SP extract at the dose of 300 mg/kg significantly decreased WBC numbers.Conclusions:SP extract could be a potential medication candidate with anti-inflammatory effects for arthritis,but it requires further investigation into the mechanism of the SP and its effectiveness on other models as well as clinical trials.
