Coca-Cola consumption vs fragmentation in the management of patients with phytobezoars:A prospective randomized controlled trial

Fracture Characteristics of Fully Pearlitic Steel Wire in Tension and Torsion

The fracture characteristics of fully pearlitic steel wires with fine and randomly oriented lamellae have been investigated after tension and torsion, respectively. It is found that the predominant fracture mode under small pre- deformation is dimple. The analysis of the colony size and the lamellar structure near the fracture surface indicates that each dimple roots from one colony. A simulation of tensile deformation with several pearlitic colonies based on the real scanning electron microscopy （SEM） observation shows that the plastic deformation concentrates and the stress t^hxialit~＂ is larger ~it the boundaries bf colonies. It demonstrates the microe/＇a^ks initialize at colony boundaries. Thus, the colony size is a significant factor for fracture behaviors under small pre-deformation. On the other hand, the fracture surface is investigated after large pre-deformation via torsion. The results show that fracture characteristics vary with radius from dimples, elongated dimples to the fibrous structure. It indicates that the fracture charac-teristics are dependent on the pre-deformation. The fracture mode under large pre-deformation becomes an anisotropic fibrous structure instead of dimples.

Influence of Lamellar Direction in Pearlitic Steel Wire on Mechanical Properties and Microstructure Evolution

During cold drawing of pearlitic steel wire, the lamellar structure becomes gradually aligned with the draw ing axis, which contributes to the ultra high strength. A direct simulation about the mechanical behaviors and microstructural evolution of pearlitic lamellae was presented. A representative volume element （RVE） containing one pearlitic colony was established based on the real transmission electron microscope （TEM） observation. The deformation of pearlitic colony during tension, shear and wire drawing were successfully simulated. The numerical results show that this metallographic texture leads to a strong anisotropy. The colony has higher yielding stress when the la mellar direction is parallel and perpendicular to the tensile direction. The lamellar evolution is strongly dependent on the initial direction and deformation mode. The formation of typical period shear bands is analyzed. In the wire draw ing, the pearlitic colony at the sub surface experiences a complex strain path： rotation, stretching along the die sur face, and rotation back.

Background:Esophageal injury is a common complication of foreign bodies in the upper gastrointestinal tract,but bilateral pleural effusion or vertebral infection is a rare condition due to a swallowed *** is considerably difficult for a physician to diagnose quickly because of incomplete patient history of foreign bodies ingestion and/or insufficient *** concerns:We describe the case of a 56-year-old man who was admitted to an emergency medical department owing to a low to moderate fever for 7 *** a series of examinations,the patient was diagnosed with esophageal perforation(EP)caused by a fishbone that was swallowed half a month ***:About 12 days after the onset of fever,he was diagnosed with EP based on the gastric endoscopic images combined with histological section and sufficient history of the *** 2 months later,the patient has obvious back pain and lack of strength in two legs and was diagnosed with vertebral body ***:Antibiotic therapy,multi-disciplinary team(MDT),and surgical intervention had been ***:It is very fortunate for this patient to have a good prognosis due to a timely diagnosis and proper *** power has attained level ***:Several lessons can be learned from this case;for example,physicians should be alerted to the EP,endoscopic intervention should be prompt,antibiotics should be used regularly,and so on.

Arabidopsis Sucrose Transporter SUT4 Interacts with Cytochrome b5-2 to Regulate Seed Germination in Response to Sucrose and Glucose

It remains unknown whether a sucrose transporter mediates sugar signaling. Here, we report that the Arabidopsis （Arabidopsis thaliana） sucrose transporter SUT4 interacts with five members of the Arabidopsis cytochrome b5 （Cyb5） family, and sucrose represses the interaction between SUT4 and a Cyb5 member Cyb5-2/A. We observed that down- regulation of SUT4 and three cytochrome b5 members （Cyb5-2, Cyb5-4, and Cyb5-6） confers the sucrose- and glucose- insensitive phenotypes in the sucrose/glucose-induced inhibition of seed germination. The sut4 cybS-2 double mutant displays slightly stronger sucrose/glucose-insensitive phenotypes than either the sut4 or cyb5-2 single mutant. We showed that the SUT4/Cyb5-2-mediated signaling in the sucrose/glucose-induced inhibition of seed germination does not require ABA or the currently known ABI2/ABI4/ABI5-mediated signaling pathway（s）. These data provide evidence that the sucrose transporter SUT4 interacts with Cyb5 to positively mediate sucrose and glucose signaling in the sucrose/ glucose-induced inhibition of seed germination.

A data-driven method for syndrome type identification and classification in traditional Chinese medicine

The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） treatments for Western medicine （WM） diseases relies heavily on the proper classification of patients into TCM syndrome types. The authors developed a data-driven method for solving the classification problem, where syndrome types were identified and quantified based on statistical patterns detected in unlabeled symptom survey data. The new method is a generalization of latent class analysis （LCA）, which has been widely applied in WM research to solve a similar problem, i.e., to identify subtypes of a patient population in the absence of a gold standard. A well-known weakness of LCA is that it makes an unrealistically strong independence assumption. The authors relaxed the assumption by first detecting symptom co-occurrence patterns from survey data and used those statistical patterns instead of the symptoms as features for LCA. This new method consists of six steps： data collection, symptom co-occurrence pattern discovery, statistical pattern interpretation, syndrome identification, syndrome type identification and syndrome type classification. A software package called Lantern has been developed to support the application of the method. The method was illustrated using a data set on vascular mild cognitive impairment.

Studies on Antivirus Effects of Polysaccharides from Sargassum fusiforme in vitro

　　To assay antiviral effects of the polysaccharide and its separated products from Sargassumfusiforme on HSV-1 and CVB3 and their antiviral mechanism, the antiviral effects of all samples on HSV-1 and CVB3 and their cytotoxicity on vero cells were studied by CPE and MTT method. Antiviral mechanism of two samples was briefly studied by four different ways. The cytotoxicity of samples on vero cells was not detected (CC＞5000 μg/mL). All samples except PSJ had obviously HSV-1 inhibitory effect. Antiviral activities of them were increasingly strengthened with raising their *** activities of F1, F2 and F4 were better than that of ACV, and antiviral activities of all samples on CVB3 were better than ribavirin injection. Fi, F2 and F4 had remarkable anti-CVB3 activity. The experiment showed that polysaccharide was able to not only kill the above viruses directly but also restrain them by getting into cell or absorbing on cells.……

In this paper,we consider the clustering of bivariate functional data where each random surface consists of a set of curves recorded repeatedly for each *** k-centres surface clustering method based on marginal functional principal component analysis is proposed for the bivariate functional data,and a novel clustering criterion is presented where both the random surface and its partial derivative function in two directions are *** addition,we also consider two other clustering methods,k-centres surface clustering methods based on product functional principal component analysis or double functional principal component *** results indicate that the proposed methods have a nice performance in terms of both the correct classification rate and the adjusted rand *** approaches are further illustrated through empirical analysis of human mortality data.

Identification and classification of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome types among senior patients with vascular mild cognitive impairment using latent tree analysis

OBJECTIVE： To treat patients with vascular mild cognitive impairment （VMCI） using traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）, it is necessary to classify the patients into TCM syndrome types and to apply different treatments to different types. In this paper, we investigate how to properly carry out the classification for patients with VMCI aged 50 or above using a novel data-driven method known as latent tree analysis （LTA）. METHOD： A cross-sectional survey on VMCI was carried out in several regions in Northern China between February 2008 and February 2012 which resulted in a data set that involves 803 patients and 93 symptoms. LTA was performed on the data to reveal symptom co-occurrence patterns, and the patients were partitioned into clusters in multiple ways based on the patterns. The patient clusters were matched up with syndrome types, and population statistics of the clusters are used to quantify the syndrome types and to establish classification rules. RESULTS： Eight syndrome types are identified： Qi deficiency, Qi stagnation, Blood deficiency, Blood stasis, Phlegm-dampness, Fire-heat, Yang deficiency, and Yin deficiency. The prevalence and symptom occurrence characteristics of each syndrome type are determined. Quantitative classification rules are established for determining whether a patient belongs to each of the syndrome types. CONCLUSION： A solution for the TCM syndrome classification problem for patients with VMCI and aged 50 or above is established based on the LTA of unlabeled symptom survey data. The results can be used as a reference in clinic practice to improve the quality of syndrome differentiation and to reduce diagnosis variances across physicians. They can also be used for patient selection in research projects aimed at finding biomarkers for the syndrome types and in randomized control trials aimed at determining the efficacy of TCM treatments of VMCI.
