Differences in insomnia-related self-reported outcomes among elderly hospitalized patients

Insomnia is among the most common sleep disorders worldwide.Insomnia in older adults is a social and public health problem.Insomnia affects the physical and mental health of elderly hospitalized patients and can aggravate or induce physical illnesses.Understanding subjective feelings and providing reasonable and standardized care for elderly hospitalized patients with insomnia are urgent issues.AIM To explore the differences in self-reported outcomes associated with insomnia among elderly hospitalized patients.METHODS One hundred patients admitted to the geriatric unit of our hospital between June 2021 and December 2021 were included in this study.Self-reported symptoms were assessed using the Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS),Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7(GAD-7),Geriatric Depression Scale-15(GDS-15),Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness(MUNSH),Barthel Index Evaluation(BI),Morse Fall Scale(MFS),Mini-Mental State Examination,and the Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36).Correlation coefficients were used to analyze the correlation between sleep quality and self-reported symptoms.Effects of insomnia was analyzed using Logistic regression analysis.RESULTS Nineteen patients with AIS≥6 were included in the insomnia group,and the incidence of insomnia was 19%(19/100).The remaining 81 patients were assigned to the non-insomnia group.There were significant differences between the two groups in the GDA-7,GDS-15,MUNSH,BI,MFS,and SF-36 items(Pling(P<0.05).Subjective well-being and quality of life were poorer in the insomnia group than in the control group.The AIS scores positively correlated with the GAD-7,GDS-15,and MFS scores in elderly hospitalized patients with insomnia(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that GDS-15≥5 was an independent risk factor for insomnia in elderly hospitalized patients(P<0.05).C

Coaxial Wet Spinning of Boron Nitride Nanosheet‑Based Composite Fibers with Enhanced Thermal Conductivity and Mechanical Strength

Hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets(BNNSs)exhibit remarkable thermal and dielectric properties.However,their self-assembly and alignment in macroscopic forms remain challenging due to the chemical inertness of boron nitride,thereby limiting their performance in applications such as thermal management.In this study,we present a coaxial wet spinning approach for the fabrication of BNNSs/polymer composite fibers with high nanosheet orientation.The composite fibers were prepared using a superacid-based solvent system and showed a layered structure comprising an aramid core and an aramid/BNNSs sheath.Notably,the coaxial fibers exhibited significantly higher BNNSs alignment compared to uniaxial aramid/BNNSs fibers,primarily due to the additional compressive forces exerted at the core-sheath interface during the hot drawing process.With a BNNSs loading of 60 wt%,the resulting coaxial fibers showed exceptional properties,including an ultrahigh Herman orientation parameter of 0.81,thermal conductivity of 17.2 W m^(-1)K^(-1),and tensile strength of 192.5 MPa.These results surpassed those of uniaxial fibers and previously reported BNNSs composite fibers,making them highly suitable for applications such as wearable thermal management textiles.Our findings present a promising strategy for fabricating high-performance composite fibers based on BNNSs.

Dietary copper requirement of broilers fed a corn-soybean meal diet during 22—42 d of age

This research was to assess the dietary copper(Cu) requirement of broiler chickens fed a practical cornsoybean meal diet during 22—42 d of age. A total of 288 numbered Arbor Acres male broilers at 22 d of age were randomly allotted 6 treatments with 8 replicate cages(6 broilers per cage) per treatment.Broilers were fed a Cu-unsupplemented corn-soybean meal basal diet(control, containing 7.36 mg Cu/kg) or the basal diet added with 3, 6, 9, 12, or 15 mg Cu/kg from CuSO4·5H2O for 21 d. Quadratic,asymptotic and broken-line models were fitted and the best fitted models were selected to determine dietary Cu requirements. The results revealed that the contents of Cu in serum and liver, m RNA expression levels of Cu-and zinc-containing superoxide dismutase(CuZnSOD) in liver and monoamine oxidase b(MAO B) in heart, as well as protein expression level of CuZnSOD in liver were affected(P ding to the best fitted broken-line models(P ding stage suggested by the Chinese Feeding Standard of Chicken.

Enhancing mechanisms of N-doped biomass carbon on the vanadium-based catalyst for furan degradation at low temperature

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs)have attracted widespread concern due to their high toxicity,and their difficult manipulation in laboratories has made the research process tough.Thus,in our work,furan is selected as the model compound owing to the same structure of a central oxygenate ring.Although catalytic oxidation is regarded as an effective and applicable method for the abatement of PCDD/Fs,the synthesis of low-temperature catalysts is still a challenging problem in practical applications.Considering this situation,we prepared a novel V_(2)O_(5)/TiO_(2)catalyst modified with N-doped hierarchical porous carbon(NHPC)via a wet impregnation method.The V/T-1%NHPC catalyst could achieve expectant low-temperature performances with 50%furan conversion at 150℃and a complete conversion at 200℃,which decreased 23℃and 40℃compared to the V/T catalyst respectively.Moreover,the addition of NHPC presented lifting chemical stability during long-time test.The addition of NHPC in V/T catalysts decreased the formation of crystalline V_(2)O_(5) and increased the percentages of V^(5+)and O_(lat),which improved the utilization of vanadium ions and the catalytic activity.Simultaneously,the higher binding energy shift of O_(lat) implied more reaction possibility with other oxidise reactants.Importantly,this work proved the lifting catalytic activity by the interaction between catalysts and NHPC,and proposed the promoting effects of the N element.The results showed that the content of the pyridinic N and graphitic N in NHPC changed after combining with V/T catalyst,which played crucial roles in the excellent catalytic performance.Overall,this work provides comprehensive research of the V/T-1%NHPC catalyst toward furan oxidation at low temperature and explain the effects of N-doped biomass carbon in catalytic activity clearly,which gave a new thought to design low-temperature catalysts in PCDD/Fs degradation.Besides,the internal functional mechanisms of N species are worth further exploratio

A Matching Algorithm with Reinforcement Learning and Decoupling Strategy for Order Dispatching in On-Demand Food Delivery

The on-demand food delivery(OFD)service has gained rapid development in the past decades but meanwhile encounters challenges for further improving operation quality.The order dispatching problem is one of the most concerning issues for the OFD platforms,which refer to dynamically dispatching a large number of orders to riders reasonably in very limited decision time.To solve such a challenging combinatorial optimization problem,an effective matching algorithm is proposed by fusing the reinforcement learning technique and the optimization method.First,to deal with the large-scale complexity,a decoupling method is designed by reducing the matching space between new orders and riders.Second,to overcome the high dynamism and satisfy the stringent requirements on decision time,a reinforcement learning based dispatching heuristic is presented.To be specific,a sequence-to-sequence neural network is constructed based on the problem characteristic to generate an order priority sequence.Besides,a training approach is specially designed to improve learning performance.Furthermore,a greedy heuristic is employed to effectively dispatch new orders according to the order priority sequence.On real-world datasets,numerical experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.Statistical results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively solve the problem by improving delivery efficiency and maintaining customer satisfaction.

SENP3 Promotes Mantle Cell Lymphoma Development through Regulating Wnt10a Expression

Objective SUMO-specific protease 3(SENP3),a member of the SUMO-specific protease family,reverses the SUMOylation of SUMO-2/3 conjugates.Dysregulation of SENP3 has been proven to be involved in the development of various tumors.However,its role in mantle cell lymphoma(MCL),a highly aggressive lymphoma,remains unclear.This study was aimed to elucidate the effect of SENP3 in MCL.Methods The expression of SENP3 in MCL cells and tissue samples was detected by RT-qPCR,Western blotting or immunohistochemistry.MCL cells with stable SENP3 knockdown were constructed using short hairpin RNAs.Cell proliferation was assessed by CCK-8 assay,and cell apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry.mRNA sequencing(mRNA-seq)was used to investigate the underlying mechanism of SENP3 knockdown on MCL development.A xenograft nude mouse model was established to evaluate the effect of SENP3 on MCL growth in vivo.Results SENP3 was upregulated in MCL patient samples and cells.Knockdown of SENP3 in MCL cells inhibited cell proliferation and promoted cell apoptosis.Meanwhile,the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and the expression of Wnt10a were suppressed after SENP3 knockdown.Furthermore,the growth of MCL cells in vivo was significantly inhibited after SENP3 knockdown in a xenograft nude mouse model.Conclusion SENP3 participants in the development of MCL and may serve as a therapeutic target for MCL.

Microcavity photon dynamics in curved space is an emerging interesting area at the crossing point of nanophotonics,chaotic science,and non-Euclidean geometry.We report the sharp difference between the regular and chaotic motions of cavity photons subjected to the varying space curvature.While the island modes of regular motion rise in the phase diagram in the curved space,the chaotic modes show special mechanisms to adapt to the space curvature,including the fast diffusion of ray dynamics,and the localization and hybridization of the Husimi wavepackets among different periodic orbits.These observations are unique effects enabled by the combination of the chaotic trajectory,the wave nature of light,and the non-Euclidean orbital motion,and therefore make the system a versatile optical simulator for chaotic science under quantum mechanics in curved space-time.

Efficacy of Huangma ding or autologous platelet-rich gel for the diabetic lower extremity arterial disease patients with foot ulcers

BACKGROUND Diabetes foot is one of the most serious complications of diabetes and an important cause of death and disability,traditional treatment has poor efficacy and there is an urgent need to develop a practical treatment method.AIM To investigate whether Huangma ding or autologous platelet-rich gel(APG)treatment would benefit diabetic lower extremity arterial disease(LEAD)patients with foot ulcers.METHODS A total of 155 diabetic LEAD patients with foot ulcers were enrolled and divided into three groups:Group A(62 patients;basal treatment),Group B(38 patients;basal treatment and APG),and Group C(55 patients;basal treatment and Huangma ding).All patients underwent routine follow-up visits for six months.After follow-up,we calculated the changes in all variables from baseline and determined the differences between groups and the relationships between parameters.RESULTS The infection status of the three groups before treatment was the same.Procalcitonin(PCT)improved after APG and Huangma ding treatment more than after traditional treatment and was significantly greater in Group C than in Group B.Logistic regression analysis revealed that PCT was positively correlated with total amputation,primary amputation,and minor amputation rates.The ankle-brachial pressure and the transcutaneous oxygen pressure in Groups B and C were greater than those in Group A.The major amputation rate,minor amputation rate,and total amputation times in Groups B and C were lower than those in Group A.CONCLUSION Our research indicated that diabetic foot ulcers(DFUs)lead to major amputation,minor amputation,and total amputation through local infection and poor microcirculation and macrocirculation.Huangma ding and APG were effective attreating DFUs.The clinical efficacy of Huangma ding was better than that of autologous platelet gel,which may be related to the better control of local infection by Huangma ding.This finding suggested that in patients with DFUs combined with coinfection,controlling infection is as important as improving circu

Real-Time Detection and Instance Segmentation of Strawberry in Unstructured Environment

The real-time detection and instance segmentation of strawberries constitute fundamental components in the development of strawberry harvesting robots.Real-time identification of strawberries in an unstructured envi-ronment is a challenging task.Current instance segmentation algorithms for strawberries suffer from issues such as poor real-time performance and low accuracy.To this end,the present study proposes an Efficient YOLACT(E-YOLACT)algorithm for strawberry detection and segmentation based on the YOLACT framework.The key enhancements of the E-YOLACT encompass the development of a lightweight attention mechanism,pyramid squeeze shuffle attention(PSSA),for efficient feature extraction.Additionally,an attention-guided context-feature pyramid network(AC-FPN)is employed instead of FPN to optimize the architecture’s performance.Furthermore,a feature-enhanced model(FEM)is introduced to enhance the prediction head’s capabilities,while efficient fast non-maximum suppression(EF-NMS)is devised to improve non-maximum suppression.The experimental results demonstrate that the E-YOLACT achieves a Box-mAP and Mask-mAP of 77.9 and 76.6,respectively,on the custom dataset.Moreover,it exhibits an impressive category accuracy of 93.5%.Notably,the E-YOLACT also demonstrates a remarkable real-time detection capability with a speed of 34.8 FPS.The method proposed in this article presents an efficient approach for the vision system of a strawberry-picking robot.

Synthesis of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Aluminum Hypophosphite Microspheres Flame Retardant and Its Flame Retardant Research on Thermoplastic Polyurethane

Aluminum hypophosphite microspheres(AHP) were synthesized by hydrothermal method using NaH2PO2·H2O and AlCl3·6H2O as raw materials, and then the AHP microspheres were polymerized by surface polymerization of micro-nanospheres with cyclic cross-linked poly(cyclotriphosphazene-co-4,4'-sulfonyldiphenol)(PZS). A new organic-inorganic poly(phosphonitrile)-modified aluminum hypophosphite microspheres(PZS-AHP) were synthesized by encapsulation and applied to flame retardant thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU). The microstructure and chemical composition of the PZS-AHP microsphere were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray spectroscopy. The thermal stability of PZS-AHP microsphere was explored with thermogravimetric analysis. Thermogravimetric data indicate that the PZS-AHP microspheres have excellent thermal stability. The thermal and flame-retarding properties of the TPU composites were evaluated by thermogravimetric(TG), limited oxygen index tests(LOI), and cone calorimeter test(CCT). The TPU composite achieved vertical burning(UL-94) V-0 grade and LOI value reached 29.2% when 10 wt% PZS-AHP was incorporated. Compared with those of pure TPU, the peak heat release rate(pHRR) and total heat release(THR) of TPU/10%PZS-AHP decreased by 82.2% and 42.5%, respectively. The results of CCT indicated that PZS-AHP microsphere could improve the flame retardancy of TPU composites.
