Adenotonsillectomy outcomes regarding bone age and osteocalcin in treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in children

Background:To investigate the effect of adenotonsillec tomy (AT) on bone development,quality of life and polysomnography evaluation in children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA).Methods:Preoperative and postoperative (6 months) physical examination,PSG,bone age (BA) and osteocalcin (OC) evaluation were performed on the selected OSA children (n=92) and the healthy children (n=87).The OSA children were also scored based on the OSA 18-item questionnaire.A two-year follow-up was conducted to evaluate BA and OC ***:After AT,81 (88.04%) OSA children recovered completely,eight (8.70%) achieved remarkable improvements,and three (3.26%) achieved moderate *** the OSA children,postoperative OSA 18-item score and the scores of the five domains were significantly higher than preoperative *** with the preoperative,body mass index (BMI),weight for age Z-sores,height for age Z-sores,weight for height Z-sores and BMI Z-score in the OSA group 6 months after the operation were significantly increased,but no significant difference was detected between the OSA and the control *** changes of BA and chronological age in the OSA group were significantly different from those in the control *** years after AT,BA between the two groups was no longer significantly *** serum OC in the OSA group was lower than that in the control group,but increased to normal levels 6 months after *** analysis showed serum OC levels were negatively correlated with apnea hyponea index,obstructive apnea index,arousal index,and lowest oxygen ***:After AT,bone growth and development in children with OSA recovered gradually,and the serum OC levels decreased to the normal ***,preventive measures and positive treatments should be applied to minimize the negative effects of OSA in children.

A model was built to simulate liquid aluminum leakage during the casting process,including transient trough flow,orifice outflow,and spread,to prevent the explosion.A comparison between the simulation data and the theoretical calculation results verifies that the model has remarkable adaptability and high *** the height of liquid aluminum in the mixing furnace and outlet radius are changed,the molten aluminum will not leak during the casting *** aluminum in the trough moves forward in a wave-like motion and causes a *** spread of the leaked aluminum resembles a long strip on the *** leakage amount and spread area of liquid aluminum increase with increasing the height of liquid aluminum in the mixing furnace.

Alkaline leaching mechanism of MSWI bottom ash: the pivotal role of Si(Al) chemical bonding environments

Municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash(MSWIBA) is a complex assemblage of aluminosilicate materials encompassing diverse solid wastes. Thus, its complexity poses great challenges to their resource utilization. For the sake of the alkali activation use of MSWIBA, this work focused on the characterizations and alkaline leaching experiments of various classified MSWIBA after sorting. Among the different categories of MSWIBA, waste glass(BA-G) and other unidentified slags(BA-O) were identified as potential precursors for alkali activation use. The alkaline leaching experiments proved that alkaline concentration, reaction temperature, reaction time, and raw material classification influenced the leaching process and results. Among these, the Si/Al chemical bonding environments from the material type played a pivotal role. When the materials had Qn(n>2) as the primary bonding structure, steric hindrance by the chain frameworks affected the alkali dissolution process, resulting in gradual disintegration from the outer layers inward. For the materials dominated by Q1frameworks, OH-could penetrate the frameworks, leading to their rapid depolymerization and outward dissolution. Overall, the Si/Al bonding environment played a crucial role in alkaline dissolution, providing theoretical guidance for classifying the alkali-activation utilization of MSWIBA and other aluminosilicate solid wastes.

Ni-catalyzed cross-electrophile alkyl-alkyl coupling reactions

Introducing saturated carbon-carbon bonds into organic molecules significantly increases the three-dimensional configuration,thus altering the physical and chemical properties as well as the functions of molecules. Transition-metal-catalyzed carboncarbon cross-couplings represent one of the most straightforward, efficient and modular alternatives to build saturation in a single step. However, the efficient construction of alkyl-alkyl bonds remains a formidable challenge due to the precise manipulation of multiple alkyl metallic intermediates as well as associated competitive side reactions and selectivity control. Over the past years, Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling under reductive conditions has gained more and more attention for alkyl-alkyl crosscoupling partially attributing to the low-valent state of metal centers under reducing conditions, which suppresses the competitive β-hydride elimination process, thus facilitating the formation of alkyl-alkyl bonds. In this review, the initiative and progress of Ni-catalyzed cross-electrophile alkyl-alkyl cross-coupling, including the efforts in racemic and enantioselective formation of alkyl-alkyl bonds, have been summarized and discussed. Moreover, the challenges and further opportunities in this area have also been discussed.

Homologous CoS2 interface with directed electron transfer and strong chloridion repulsion for efficient seawater oxidation

Seawater electrolysis is a highly promising method to produce high energy density hydrogen,especially in dry areas that have scarce freshwater ***,application of seawater electrolysis is confronted by two major problems associated with catalysts employed for the anodic oxygen evolution reaction （OER） including the competitive hypochlorite evolution reaction（HCER） and strong chloridion （Cl–） triggered *** studies aimed at overcoming these problems,a facile method has been developed to synthesize a homologous CoS2heterojunction as an OER *** to a difference in work functions at the interface and increased electron density,this material has directed electron transfer and strong chloridion repulsion properties,*** have shown that CoS2achieves low overpotentials of 289 and 322 mV at 10 mA cm-2current density in respective alkaline （1 M KOH） and alkaline simulated seawater ***,the outstanding stability of CoS2is reflected in a negligible decline in activity during promotion of the OER for 100 *** of density functional theory calculations reveal that the homologous CoS2heterojunction promotes directed electron transport for optimizing adsorption/desorption of reactive species and heightens the Cl-adsorption energy for strongly repulsing Cl-,phenomena that enhance OER performance in alkaline simulated seawater.

Precision measurement and compensation of kinematic errors for industrial robots using artifact and machine learning

Industrial robots are widely used in various areas owing to their greater degrees of freedom(DOFs)and larger operation space compared with traditional frame movement systems involving sliding and rotational ***,the geometrical transfer of joint kinematic errors and the relatively weak rigidity of industrial robots compared with frame movement systems decrease their absolute kinematic accuracy,thereby limiting their further application in ultraprecision *** imposes a stringent requirement for improving the absolute kinematic accuracy of industrial robots in terms of the position and orientation of the robot arm *** measurement and compensation methods for industrial robots either require expensive measuring systems,producing positioning or orientation errors,or offer low measurement ***,a kinematic calibration method for an industrial robot using an artifact with a hybrid spherical and ellipsoid surface is proposed.A system with submicrometric precision for measuring the position and orientation of the robot arm end is developed using laser displacement ***,a novel kinematic error compensating method involving both a residual learning algorithm and a neural network is proposed to compensate for nonlinear errors.A six-layer recurrent neural network(RNN)is designed to compensate for the kinematic nonlinear errors of a six-DOF industrial *** results validate the feasibility of the proposed method for measuring the kinematic errors of industrial robots,and the compensation method based on the RNN improves the accuracy via parameter *** studies show that the measuring system and compensation method can reduce motion errors by more than 30%.The present study provides a feasible and economic approach for measuring and improving the motion accuracy of an industrial robot at the submicrometric measurement level.
