AIM To analyze how various implants placement variables affect sacroiliac(SI) joint range of motion. METHODS An experimentally validated finite element model of the lumbar spine and pelvis was used to simulate a fusion of the SI joint using various placement configurations of triangular implants(iF use Implant System~?). placement configurations were varied by changing implant orientation, superior implant length, and number of implants. The range of motion of the SI joint was calculated using a constant moment of 10 N-m with a follower load of 400 N. The changes in motion were compared between the treatment groups to assess how the different variables affected the overall motion of the SI joint. RESULTS Transarticular placement of 3 implants with superior implants that end in the middle of the sacrum resulted in the greatest reduction in range of motion(flexion/extension = 73%, lateral bending = 42%, axial rotation = 72%). The range of motions of the SI joints were reduced with use of transarticular orientation(9%-18%) when compared with an inline orientation. The use of a superior implant that ended mid-sacrum resulted in median reductions of(8%-14%) when compared with a superior implant that ended in the middle of the ala. Reducing the number of implants, resulted in increased SI joint range of motions for the 1 and 2 implant models of 29%-133% and 2%-39%, respectively,when compared with the 3 implant *** Using a validated finite element model we demonstrated that placement of 3 implants across the SI joint using a transarticular orientation with superior implant reaching the sacral midline resulted in the most stable construct. Additional clinical studies may be required to confirm these results.

Urban environments expose animals to abundant anthropogenic materials and foods that facilitate foraging innovations in species with oppor-tunistic diets and high behavioral *** and exploration tendency are believed to be important behavioral traits for animals thriving in urban *** monkeys(Chlorocebus pygerythrus)are one of few primate species that have successfully adapted to urban environments,thus making them an ideal species to study these *** a within-species cross-habitat approach,we compared neophilia and exploration of novel objects(jointly referred to as"object curiosity")between semi-urban,wild,and captive monkeys to shed light on the cognitive traits facilitating urban *** measure"object curiosity:"we exposed monkeys to various types of novel stimuli and compared their approaches and explorative *** results revealed differences in the number of approaches and explorative behavior toward novel stimuli between the habitat types *** vervet monkeys were significantly more explorative than both semi-urban and wild troops,sug-gesting that positive experiences with humans and lack of predation,rather than exposure to human materials per se,influence object *** habitats,juvenile males were the most explorative age-sex *** is likely due to males being the dispersing sex and juveniles being more motivated to learn about their ***,we found that items potentially associated with human food,elicited stronger explorative responses in semi-urban monkeys than non-food related objects,suggesting that their motivation to explore might be driven by"anthrophilia'that is,their experience of rewarding foraging on similar anthropogenic food *** conclude that varying levels of exposure to humans,predation and pre-exposure to human food packaging explain variation in"object curiosity"in our sample of vervet monkeys.

The p53 tumor suppressor gene is the most frequently mutated gene in cancer. Significant progress has been made to discern the im- portance of p53 in coordinating cellular responses to DNA damage, oncogene activation, and other stresses. Noncoding RNAs are RNA molecules functioning without being translated into proteins. In this work, we discuss the dichotomy of p53 regulation by noncoding RNAs with four unconventional questions. First, is overexpression of microRNAs responsible for p53 inactivation in the absence of p53 mutation？ Second, are there somatic mutations in the noncoding regions of the p53 gene？ Third, is there a germline mutant in the non- coding regions of the p53 gene that predisposes carriers to cancer？ Fourth, can p53 activation mediated by a noncoding RNA mutation cause cancer？ This work highUghts the prominence of noncoding RNAs in p53 dysregutation and tumorigenesis.

Background Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy(EUS-FNB)is increasingly utilized to enhance the cytological yield of sampling solid lesions,but its superiority over existing fine-needle aspiration(FNA)platforms has not been clearly *** aim of our study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy and procedural outcomes of FNB using a new Franseen-tip needle to that of a traditional FNA in sampling solid lesions under EUS *** Consecutive patients with solid lesions referred for EUS-FNB sampling were ***-related outcomes were collected prospectively including patient demographics,number of passes performed,diagnostic sample adequacy,adverse events,and recovery *** Acquire needle was used to sample all lesions in the study *** EUSFNA procedures performed to sample solid lesions using the Expect needle were utilized as *** There were 180 patients undergoing EUS-FNB compared to 183 patients undergoing EUS-FNA procedures for solidlesion *** procedure time was significantly shorter in patients who underwent FNB compared to FNA(mean:37.4 vs 44.9 minutes,ppasses were performed in the FNB cohort compared to the FNA group(mean:2.9 vs 3.8,pp compared to the FNA group(98.3%vs 90.2%,p=0.003).No significant difference in the incidence of adverse events was observed between the FNB and FNA groups(1.1%vs 0.5%,p=0.564).Conclusions An FNB-exclusive approach to sampling solid lesions under EUS guidance is safe and feasible,and may result in fewer overall passes,shorter procedure time,and improved diagnostic *** may replace FNA as the primary sampling modality of choice in all solid lesions.
