Developing a healthy.lifesty.e during adulthood is one of the essential factors to prepare for healthy.aging. This cross-sectional descriptive study.investigated the daily.walk.ng steps of 893 work.ng adults from nine occupation categories in Hong k.ng. Their daily.walk.ng steps were measured using a pedometer. Analy.is of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the difference in daily.walk.ng steps between participants in different occupation category. Chi-square test was used to compare the difference in proportion of work.ng adults in each occupation category.who walk.d and did not walk.10,000 steps per day. Results reveal that the participants in average walk.d 8661 steps per day. “Plant and machine operators and assemblers” and “clerk.” were the two least active groups. Participants from the nine occupation categories demonstrated a significant difference in the number of daily.walk.ng steps. Post hoc analy.is revealed a significant difference between “plant and machine operators and assemblers” and “service work.rs and shop sales work.rs” (p k.rs” (p k.d and did not walk.10,000 steps per day. Owing to a large difference in number of participants in the nine occupation categories and other study.limitations, further sy.tematic investigation is indicated to confirm the study.results. To summarize, work.ng adults in Hong k.ng are only.somewhat active. Identify.ng the factors that deter the work.ng adults from walk.ng and the way. to promote walk.ng among work.ng adults is necessary.to prepare a healthy.older population of the future.

Purpose: While there were numerous clinical examples of ocular damage, the histopathology.of retinal responses was poorly.characterized, and animal model research was limited. The consequences of retinal lesions with traditional medicine treatment were mostly.unk.own. In this work. goldfish was employ.d as a model for penetrating injury.of the ey.s to study.the ocular trauma with antibiotic and traditional medicine treatments. Materials and Methods: The penetration of the ey.s was performed at 2mm above the midline of the limbus in the superior quadrant with an 18-gauge sterile needle, all the way.to the retina but avoiding the lens while the animals were anaesthetized in water containing 100 mg/L ethy. 3-aminobenzoate methanesulfonate (MS-222). The animals were divided into three groups and received treatments of saline, chloramphenicol, and Angong Niuhuang pill (Angong) ey.drops twice a day.respectively. Angong after seven day., the animals were sacrificed. Immunohistochemical evaluation of proliferative cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), catalase, and cleaved caspase-3, and terminal deoxy.ucleotidy. transferase dUTP nick.end labeling (TUNEL) for apoptotic cells were performed on the fish’s superior quadrants of the retinae. The whole experiment was repeated two times. Result: It was evident that both the retinae treated with chloramphenicol and Angong had fewer apoptotic cells and more proliferative cells, particularly.in the cases of the Angong treatment. BDNF was in the inner nuclear lay.r and ganglion cell lay.r of all groups. In the chloramphenicol and Angong groups, some cells in the outer nuclear lay.r display.d BDNF. Catalase reactions confirmed equivalent findings that the treated retinae with chloramphenicol or Angong treatment had less catalase. Conclusion: Angong Niuhuang pill is a traditional medicine composite formula with antibiotic and neuroprotective effects on the brain and the ey.s, and this work.also pointed out its possible pharmaceutical potential.

The collaboration tools offered by.Cloud Computing have increased the need to share data and services within companies or between autonomous organizations. This has led to the deploy.ent of community.cloud infrastructures. However, several challenges will arise from this grouping of heterogeneous organizations. One of the main challenges is the management of trust between the actors of the community. Trust issues arise from the uncertainty.about the quality.of the resources and entities involved. The quality.of a resource can be examined from a security.or functional perspective. Therefore, ensuring security.and monitoring the quality.of resources is to ensure a high level of trust. Therefore, we propose in this paper a technique for dy.amic trust management and quality.monitoring of resources shared between organizations. Our approach consists, on the one hand, in evaluating the quality.of resources based on quality.of service measurement attributes and, on the other hand, in updating the trust values according to the information deduced from these measurements. The proposed framework.is evaluated in terms of resource sharing success rate and execution time. Experimental results and comparison with TNA-SL and InterTrust models show that the framework.can identify.and track.the behavior of malicious organizations with relatively.low execution time.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Micronesians, a Growing Pacific Islander Population in the U.S.

Back.round: Micronesians are a rapidly.growing population in Hawaii and the continental U.S. Hepatitis B is prevalent in Micronesia, but the consequences in those migrating to the U.S. are unclear. This study.characterizes hepatocellular carcinoma in Micronesians with comparisons to other Pacific Islanders. Methods: A retrospective evaluation was undertak.n of 40 Micronesian and 142 Non-Micronesian Pacific hepatocellular carcinoma patients diagnosed in a large clinical practice in Hawaii from 1993-2017. Results: All Micronesians were born outside of the U.S. Micronesians were y.unger at diagnosis (52.0 vs. 60.2 y.ars), had higher rates of hepatitis B (80% vs. 31.2%), a family.history.of hepatocellular carcinoma (17.5% vs. 4.4%) and more tumors y.ertension (61.7% vs. 32.4%). There was no difference in the proportions of screen-detected tumors, those meeting Milan criteria, tumor stage, or liver function. Micronesians had better 5-y.ar survival rates (48% vs. 16.7%). Conclusion: Hepatocellular carcinoma in Micronesians is primarily.Hepatitis B-related. Micronesians were equally.lik.ly.to have hepatocellular carcinoma found with screening, undergo transplant and had better survival. Our study.emphasizes the need for hepatitis B screening and hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance in Micronesians.

Back.round Strok. is a major cause of death or long-term disability.worldwide.Many.patients with strok. receive integrative therapy.consisting of Western medicine(WM)and routine rehabilitation in conjunction with Chinese medicine(CM),such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.However,there is no available evidence on the effectiveness of the combined use of WM and CM interventions in strok. rehabilitation.Aims The purpose of this meta-analy.is is to evaluate the results of all individual studies to assess the combined use of CM and WM in strok. rehabilitation compared with WM only.Methods The Preferred Reporting Items for Sy.tematic Reviews and Meta-Analy.is guidelines were followed.MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane and China National k.owledge Infrastructure(CNk.)were searched.The included outcomes were dependency.motor function,depression and swallowing function.Subgroup analy.is was performed,and publication bias was assessed using funnel plots.Summary.of review 58 studies and 6339 patients were included in the meta-analy.is.Subgroup analy.is revealed that combined therapy.comprising both acupuncture and WM had a superior effect on improving dependency.and swallowing function compared with standard WM therapy.alone.Potential superiority.of combined therapy.comprising CM and WM in improving depression compared with standard WM therapy.was also found.Conclusions Our results indicate that the combined use of CM and WM could be more efficacious in strok. rehabilitation compared with the use of WM therapy.alone.However,most studies were short in duration(2 to 4 week.)and prone to different ty.es of biases,which prevents mak.ng any.conclusion regarding the long-term effects and raises concerns regarding true efficacy.in context of high lik.lihood of Hawthorn bias.So,more randomised controlled trials with more rigorous design and longer duration of treatment and follow-up need to be conducted to compare WM alone versus WM and CM combined.

Back.round Cerebral malaria(CM)is a neuropathology.which remains one of the deadliest forms of malaria among African children.The k.netics of the pathophy.iological mechanisms leading to neuroinflammation and the death or survival of patients during CM are still poorly.understood.The increasing production of cy.ok.nes,chemok.nes and other actors of the inflammatory.and oxidative response by.various local actors in response to neuroinflammation play. a major role during CM,participating in both the amplification of the neuroinflammation phenomenon and its resolution.In this study.we aimed to identify.risk.factors for CM death among specific variables of inflammatory.and oxidative responses to improve our understanding of CM pathogenesis.Methods Children presenting with CM(n=70)due to P.falciparum infection were included in southern Benin and divided according to the clinical outcome into 50 children who survived and 20 who died.Clinical examination was complemented by.fundoscopic examination and extensive blood biochemical analy.is associated with molecular diagnosis by.multiplex PCR targeting 14 pathogens in the patients'cerebrospinal fluid to rule out coinfections.Luminex technology.and enzy.e immunoassay.k.ts were used to measure 17 plasma and 7 urinary.biomark.r levels,respectively.Data were analy.ed by.univariate analy.is using the nonparametric Mann-Whitney.U test and Pearson’s Chi2 test.Adjusted and multivariate analy.es were conducted separately.for plasma and urinary.biomark.rs to identify.CM mortality.risk.factors.Results Univariate analy.is revealed higher plasma levels of tumour necrosis factor(TNF),interleuk.n-1beta(IL-1β),IL-10,IL-8,C-X-C motif chemok.ne ligand 9(CXCL9),granzy.e B,and angiopoietin-2 and lower urinary.levels of prostanglandine E2 metabolite(PGEM)in children who died compared to those who survived CM(Mann-Whitney.U-test,P-values between 0.03 andy.is highlighted elevated plasma levels of IL-8 as the main risk.factor for death during CM(adjusted odd

AIM To compare patients who underwent resection of early.stage hepatocellular cancer(HCC) in three different countries. METHODS This retrospective study.characterizes 573 stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ HCC patients treated with liver resection in 3 tertiary.eferral centers: Tok.0}(n = 250), Honolulu(n = 146) and Shanghai(n = 177).RESULTS Shanghai patients were y.unger, predominantly.male, hepatitis-B seropositive(94%) and cirrhotic(93%). Tok.0} patients were older and more lik.ly.to have hepatitis-C(67%), smaller tumors, low albumin, and normal alpha-fetoprotein. The Honolulu cohort had the largest tumors and 30% had no viral hepatitis. Ageadjusted mortality.at 1 and 5-y.ars were lower in theTok.0} cohort compared to Honolulu and there was no difference in mortality.between Shanghai and Honolulu cohorts. Elevated alpha-fetoprotein, low albumin and tumor > 5 cm were associated with increased 1-y.ar mortality. These factors and cirrhosis were independently.associated with increased 5-y.ar mortality. Independent risk.factors of survival varied when examined separately.by.center. CONCLUSION The profile of early.stage HCC patients is strik.ngly.different across countries and lik.ly.contributes to survival differences. Underly.ng differences in patient populations including risk.factors/comorbidities influencing disease progression may.also account for variation in outcomes.

Purpose The absolute beam position measurement in the booster and storage ring of the high energy.photon source(HEPS)requires the offset between the electrical and mechanical centers of the beam position monitor(BPM).Method Traditionally.an RF signal is sent to an antenna or stretched wire aligned with the vacuum chamber,and the signal at each electrode is measured.Conversely.a replacement method using a vector network.analy.er,which was proposed by.Lambertson,does not involve mechanical alignment and can be used for electrical offset determination.Results and conclusions The electro-mechanical offsets of booster BPMs of the HEPS were measured using the Lambertson method.The result shows good agreement with the stretched wire method within a 30μm error.

Back.round & Objectives: Diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) often utilizes serum tumor mark.rs. Although the most commonly.used tumor mark.r in clinical practice, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is not included in recent guidelines for diagnosing HCC. The overall performance characteristics of AFP as a tumor mark.r is viewed as insufficiently.sensitive or specific. The diagnostic value of AFP specifically.in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) related HCC is unk.own. We aimed to determine the utility.of AFP testing in NASH-related HCC. Methods: Retrospective review of 737 HCC patients referred from 1993- 2011 to a single facility.treating the majority.of chronic liver disease in Hawaii. HCC was diagnosed histologically.by.percutaneous biopsy. liver biopsy.at the time of surgery. or examination of the resected liver. Patients were classified according to HCC risk.factors including NASH, hepatitis B and C infection, and alcohol-related. Other data collected included: demographics, ethnicity. presence of cirrhosis, tumor characteristics (size, number, vascular invasion), diabetes, hy.erlipidemia, body.mass index (BMI) and blood testing to calculate Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score. Elevated AFP was defined as >20 ng/mL. Sensitivity.of AFP was determined and compared between various subgroups. Results: Elevated AFP levels were detected in 64.3% of patients. AFP sensitivity.was 47% for NASH-related HCC (n = 100), and 67.2% for HCC with viral or alcoholic risk.factors (n = 637) (OR 0.43, 95% CI 0.28 - 0.66, p = 0.0001). Elevated AFP had higher sensitivity.in females (71.9% vs. 61.8%, OR 1.58, 95% CI 1.1 - 2.27, p = 0.013), non-diabetics (67.4% vs. 57.2%, OR 0.65, 95% CI 0.47 - 0.89, p = 0.0093), and cirrhotics (67.1% vs. 56.8%, OR 1.55, 95% CI 1.10 - 2.19, p = 0.0012).AFP did not vary.significantly.with regard to hy.erlipidemia or BMI. AFP was more sensitive in advanced disease including tumors > 5 cm, multiple tumors, or vascular invasion (all with p y.with MELD score. Conclusions:
