Janus Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride)Membranes with Penetrative Pores for Photothermal Desalination

Solar-driven desalination has been considered as a promising technology for producing clean water through an abundant and pollution-free energy *** is a critical challenge to reasonably design the porous morphology and the thermal management of photothermal membranes for enabling efficient energy conversion and water *** this work,a Janus poly(vinylidene fluoride)membrane was fabricated in combination of penetrative pore structure,asymmetric surface wettability with proper thermal management for high-efficiency solar *** open and directly penetrative pores achieved by the two-dimensional solvent freezing strategy are considered to provide direct pathways for water and vapor *** unique feature of hydrophobic upper layer/hydrophilic lower layer enables the photothermal membranes to self-float on the water surface and rapidly pump water from the bulk to the *** resulting Janus membrane exhibits a satisfactory light absorbance as high as 97%and a photothermal conversion efficiency of 62.8%under one-sun irradiation in a direct contact *** solar-to-vapor efficiency rises up to 90.2%with the assistance of a thermal insulator adopted *** the Janus membrane and the composite setup are able to work efficiently with a high stability in seawater desalination,and the concentration of ion in condensed water is reduced to below 1 ***,Janus membranes with directly penetrative pores and photothermal surfaces shine a light on the development of high-performance solar evaporators for the practical application in solar seawater desalination.

An adaptive control approach is presented in this paper for tracking desired trajectories in interactive manipulators. The controller design incorporates prescribed performance functions (PPFs) to improve dynamic performance. Notably, the performance of the output error is confined in an envelope characterized by exponential convergence, leading to convergence to zero. This feature ensures a prompt response from admittance control and establishes a reliable safety framework for interactions. Simulation results provide practical insights,demonstrating the viability of the control scheme proposed in this paper.

Integrin β5 subunit regulates hyperglycemia-induced vascular endothelial cell apoptosis through FoxO1-mediated macroautophagy

Background:Hyperglycemia frequently induces apoptosis in endothelial cells and ultimately contributes to microvascular dysfunction in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM).Previous research reported that the expression of integrins as well as their ligands was elevated in the diseased vessels of DM ***,the association between integrins and hyperglycemia-induced cell death is still *** research was designed to investigate the role played by integrin subunit β5(ITGB5)in hyperglycemia-induced endothelial cell ***:We used leptin receptor knockout(Lepr-KO)(db/db)mice as spontaneous diabetes animal *** deletion of ITGB5 in endothelial cell was achieved by injecting vascular targeted adeno-associated virus via tail ***,we also applied small interfering RNA in vitro to study the mechanism of ITGB5 in regulating high glucose-induced cell ***:ITGB5 and its ligand,fibronectin,were both upregulated after exposure to high glucose in vivo and in ***5 knockdown alleviated hyperglycemia-induced vascular endothelial cell apoptosis and microvascular rarefaction in *** vitro analysis revealed that knockdown of either ITGB5 or fibronectin ameliorated high glucose-induced apoptosis in human umbilical vascular endothelial cells(HUVECs).In addition,knockdown of ITGB5 inhibited fibronectin-induced HUVEC apoptosis,which indicated that the fibronectin-ITGB5 interaction participated in high glucose-induced endothelial cell *** using RNA-sequencing technology and bioinformatic analysis,we identified Forkhead Box Protein O1(FoxO1)as an important downstream target regulated by ***,we demonstrated that the excessive macroautophagy induced by high glucose can contribute to HUVEC apoptosis,which was regulated by the ITGB5-FoxO1 ***:The study revealed that high glucose-induced endothelial cell apoptosis was positively regulated by ITGB5,which suggested that ITGB5 could potentially be used

Synthesis and characteristics of transparent Gd_(2)O_(3)ceramics with cubic structure

Transparent Gd_(2)O_(3)ceramics with a cubic crystal structure were successfully synthesized for the first *** Gd_(2)O_(3)ceramics subjected to hot isostatic press(HIP)at 1070℃consisted of uniform grains of 2-3μm,and only a few residual pores could be detected inside the materials.X-ray diffraction(XRD)shows that the obtained polycrystalline materials have a cubic crystal structure,and the transmission polarized light observation shows that there is no birefringence inside the materials,indicating inherent optical properties of the cubic crystal *** optical absorption edge is 640 nm(optical band gap:2.1 eV),and the transmittance in the visible to near-infrared region is 72%,which is close to the theoretical transmittance calculated from Fresnel *** constant of this material is almost wavelength-independent,and it is diamagnetic since it has the opposite polarity to that of common paramagnetic materials.

Machine learning enabling prediction in mechanical performance of Ti6Al4V fabricated by large-scale laser powder bed fusion via a stacking model

Determining appropriate process parameters in large-scale laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing pose formidable challenges that necessitate advanced approaches to minimize trial-and-error during experimentation. This work proposed a data-driven approach based on stacking ensemble learning to predict the mechanical properties of Ti6Al4V alloy fabricated by large-scale LPBF for the first time. This method can adapt to the complexity of large-scale LPBF data distribution and exhibits a more generalized predictive capability compared to base models. Specifically, the stacking model utilized artificial neural network (ANN), gradient boosting regressor, kernel ridge regression, and elastic net as base models, with the Lasso model serving as the meta-model. Bayesian optimization and cross-validation were utilized for model optimization and training based on a limited data set, resulting in higher predictive accuracy compared to traditional artificial neural network model. The statistical analysis of the ANN and stacking models indicates that the stacking model exhibits superior performance on the test set, with a coefficient of determination value of 0.944, mean absolute percentage error of 2.51%, and root mean squared error of 27.64, surpassing that of the ANN model. All statistical metrics demonstrate superiority over those obtained from the ANN model. These results confirm that by integrating the base models, the stacking model exhibits superior predictive stability compared to individual base models alone, thereby providing a reliable assessment approach for predicting the mechanical properties of metal parts fabricated by the LPBF process.

Two-dimensional and absolutely entanglement-breaking subspaces

Entanglement-breaking(EB) subspaces determine the additivity of entanglement of formation(EOF), which is a long-standing issue in quantum information. We explicitly construct the twodimensional EB subspaces of any bipartite system, when system dimensions are equal, and we apply the subspaces to construct EB spaces of arbitrary dimensions. We also present partial construction when system dimensions are different. Then, we present the notion and properties of EB subspaces for some systems, and in particular the absolute EB subspaces. We construct some examples of absolute EB subspaces, as well as EB subspaces for some systems by using multiqubit Dicke states.

Mechanism study of Cu(Ⅱ) adsorption from acidic wastewater by ultrasonic-modified municipal solid waste incineration fly ash

High concentrations of copper ions(Cu(Ⅱ)) in water will pose health risks to humans and the ecological environment. Therefore, this study aims to utilize ultrasonic-cured modified municipal solid waste incineration(MSWI) fly ash for Cu(Ⅱ) adsorption to achieve the purpose of “treating waste by waste.” The effects of p H, adsorption time, initial concentration, and temperature on the modified MSWI fly ash’s adsorption efficiency were systematically studied in this article. The adsorption performance of the modified MSWI fly ash can be enhanced by the ultrasonic modification. At pH = 2, 3 and 4, the adsorption capacity of the modified MSWI fly ash for Cu(Ⅱ) increased by 2.7, 1.9 and 1.2 times, respectively. Furthermore, it was suggested that the adsorption process of the modified MSWI fly ash can be better simulated by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, with a maximum adsorption capacity calculated by the Langmuir model of 24.196 mg.g-1. Additionally, the adsorption process is spontaneous,endothermic, and chemisorption-dominated from the thermodynamic studies(ΔH and ΔS > 0, ΔG < 0).Finally, the enhanced adsorption performance of the modified MSWI fly ash for Cu(Ⅱ) may be attributed to electrostatic interaction and chelation effects.

Background Respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)is the leading global cause of respiratory infections and is responsible for about 3 million hospitalizations and more than 100,000 deaths annually in children younger than 5 years,representing a major global healthcare *** is a great unmet need for new agents and universal strategies to prevent RSV infections in early life.A multidisciplinary consensus development group comprising experts in epidemiology,infectious diseases,respiratory medicine,and methodology aims to develop the current consensus to address clinical issues of RSV infections in *** sources The evidence searches and reviews were conducted using electronic databases,including PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library,using variations in terms for"respiratory syncytial virus","RSV","lower respiratory tract infection","bronchiolitis","acute","viral pneumonia","neonatal","infant""children",and"pediatric".Results Evidence-based recommendations regarding diagnosis,treatment,and prevention were proposed with a high degree of *** supportive care remains the cornerstone for the management of RSV infections,new monoclonal antibodies,vaccines,drug therapies,and viral surveillance techniques are being rolled *** This consensus,based on international and national scientific evidence,reinforces the current recommendations and integrates the recent advances for optimal care and prevention of RSV *** improvements in the management of RSV infections will require generating the highest quality of evidence through rigorously designed studies that possess little bias and sufficient capacity to identify clinically meaningful end points.

Implications of the Stellar Mass Density of High-z Massive Galaxies from JWST on Warm Dark Matter

A significant excess of the stellar mass density at high redshift has been discovered from the early data release of James Webb Space Telescope(JWST),and it may require a high star formation ***,this will lead to large number density of ionizing photons in the epoch of reionization(EoR),so that the reionization history will be changed,which can arise tension with the current EoR *** dark matter(WDM),via the free streaming effect,can suppress the formation of small-scale structure as well as low-mass *** provides an effective way to decrease the ionizing photons when considering a large star formation efficiency in high-z massive galaxies without altering the cosmic reionization *** the other hand,the constraints on the properties of WDM can be derived from the JWST *** this work,we study WDM as a possible solution to reconcile the JWST stellar mass density of high-z massive galaxies and reionization *** find that,the JWST high-z comoving cumulative stellar mass density alone has no significant preference for either CDM or WDM *** using the observational data of other stellar mass density measurements and reionization history,we obtain that the WDM particle mass with mw=0.51_(-0.12)^(+0.22) keV and star formation efficiency parameter f_(*)^(0)> 0.39 in 2σ confidence level can match both the JWST high-z comoving cumulative stellar mass density and the reionization history.
