Nutrient and Litter Patterns in Three Subalpine Coniferous Forests of Western Sichuan, China

Investigations were conducted to quantify litterfall, and litter and nutrient accumulation in forest floor, and to acquire information on litter decomposition and nitrogen and phosphorus release patterns in three different subalpine coniferous forests, a plantation （P1）, a secondary forest （SF）, and a primitive forest （PF）, in western Sichuan, China. The litter trap method was used to evaluate litterfall with the litterbag method being utilized for litter decomposition. Seasonal patterns of litterfall were similar in the three forests, with two peaks occurring in September-November and March-May. The plantation revealed an annual litterfall of 4.38 x 103 kg ha-1, which was similar to those of SF and PF, but P1 had a lower mass loss rate and a higher C/N ratio. The C/N ratio may be a sound predictor for the decomposition differences. N concentrations of leaf litter in both the secondary forest and primitive forest increased first and then decreased, and the percentages of their final/initial values were 108.9% and 99.9%, respectively. P concentration in the three forests increased by the end of the study. The results of litterfall and decomposition indicated that in the plantation the potential to provide nutrients for soil organic matter was similar to those of SF and PF; however, its slower decomposition rate could result in a somewhat transient accumulation of litter in the forest floor.

Although the incidence and mortality of gastric cancer(GC)have been decreasing steadily worldwide,especially in East Asia,the disease burden of this malignancy is still very *** for tremendous progress in the management of GC by multidisciplinary treatment,surgical excision of the primary tumor is still the cornerstone intervention in the curative-intent treatment of *** the relatively short perioperative period,patients undergoing radical gastrectomy will suffer from at least part of the following perioperative events:Surgery,anesthesia,pain,intraoperative blood loss,allogeneic blood transfusion,postoperative complications,and their related anxiety,depression and stress response,which have been shown to affect long-term ***,in recent years,studies have been carried out to find and test interventions during the perioperative period to improve the long-term survival of patients following radical gastrectomy,which will be the aim of this review.

Inhibiting Apoptosis of CTLL-2 Cells to Enhance Their GVL Effects via Anti-Fas Ribozyme

To investigate the inhibition role of anti-Fas hammerhead ribozyme on fas expression and Fas-mediated apoptosis of CTL cell line CTLL-2 cells, the cDNA of an anti-Fas hammerhead ribozyme was synthesized, its expression plasmid was constructed and transfected into CTLL-2 cells by electroporation. fas expression of CTLL-2 cells was detected by RT-PCR and Western blot. CTLL-2 cell viability was measured using MTT assay when co-cultured with mouse T cell leukemia cell line EL4 cells that highly expressed Fas ligand (FasL). Meanwhile, caspase-3 proteolytic activity was detected, and cell apoptosis was measured by flow cytometry and Hochest-PI double staining. Killing activity of CTLL-2 cells was detected by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) releasing assay in vitro. Results showed that the expression of both Fas mRNA and protein in CTLL-2 cells were decreased after transfection of anti-Fas ribozyme. Compared with mock- transfected group and mutant ribozyme-transfected group, viability of CTLL-2 cells co-cultured with EL4 cells was increased significantly and cells killing activity was enhanced after transfected with anti-Fas ribozyme, while the caspase-3 activity and apoptosis rate was significantly decreased. The results demonstrated anti-Fas ribozyme could efficiently cleave Fas and inhibit Fas-mediated apoptosis of CTLL-2 cells to improve their viability. Our study made a basis for enhancing CTLL-2 cells anti-leukemia effect in DLI.

Objective:To investigate effect of orthodontic force on inflammatory periodontal tissue remodeling and expression of IL-6 and IL-8 in ***:Eighty SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups,blank control group(group A)with 5 rats,treatment normal group(group B)with 25 rats,inflammation control group(group(group C)with 25 rats,inflammation treatment group(group D)with 25 *** and histomorphometric analysis was performed to measure the expression of IL-6,IL-8 and the firet molar to the recent movement in the ***:The expression of IL-8 reached a maximum on day 5 and declined thereafter in group B;the expression of IL-6 reached a maximum on day 5 in group *** expression of IL-6 and IL-8 was gradually weakened with time in group *** expression of IL-6 and IL-8 were high,and reached a maximum on day 5 and declined thereafter in group *** of positive cells in group D were higher than group B at each time point(P<0.05).The time which 0.49 N orthodontic force was loaded was longer,orthodontic tooth movement distance was *** distance in group D were longer than group B(P<0.05).Conclusions:Orthodontic force as well as inflammatory stimulus can evoke the expression of IL-6 and *** the combined effects of inflammation and orthodontic force,the expression of IL-6,IL-8will increase.

AIM: To investigate the therapeutic efficacy and complications of splenectomy with endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) and splenectomy with pericardial devascularization (i.e. Hassab’s operation) in patients with portal hypertension. METHODS: A total of 103 patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension were randomly selected to receive either splenectomy with EVL (n = 53, group A) or Hassab’s operation (n = 50, group B). RESULTS: The portal blood flow volume, the presence of portal vein thrombosis, gastric emptying time and free portal venous pressure (FPP) before and after the operation were determined. Patients were followed up for up to 64 mo with an average of 45 mo, and the Dagradi classification of variceal veins and the grading of portal hypertension gastropathy (PHG) were evaluated. It was found that all esophageal varices were occluded or decreased to grade Ⅱ or less in both groups. There was little difference in the recurrence rate of esophageal varices (11.9% vs 13.2%) and the re-bleeding rate (7.1% vs 5.3%) between groups A and B. The incidence of complications and the percentage of patients with severe PHG after the operation were significantly higher in group B (60.0% and 52.0%) than in group A (32.1% and 20.8%, P < 0.05). No patients died of operation-related complications. There was no significant difference in gastric emptying time, FPP and portal blood flow volume between the two groups. CONCLUSION: The results suggest that splenectomy with EVL achieves similar therapeutic efficacy to that of Hassab’s operation in terms of the recurrence rate of esophageal varices and the re-bleeding rate, but theformer results in fewer and milder complications.

Nerve regeneration conditioned fluid is secreted by nerve stumps inside a nerve regeneration chamber.A better understanding of the proteinogram of nerve regeneration conditioned fluid can provide evidence for studying the role of the microenvironment in peripheral nerve *** this study,we used cylindrical silicone tubes as the nerve regeneration chamber model for the repair of injured rat sciatic *** tags for relative and absolute quantitation proteomics technology and western blot analysis confirmed that there were more than 10 complement components（complement factor I,C1q-A,C1q-B,C2,C3,C4,C5,C7,C8β and complement factor D） in the nerve regeneration conditioned fluid and each varied at different time *** findings suggest that all these complement components have a functional role in nerve regeneration.

The Preliminary Clinical Observation of Array Multifocal Intraocular Lens Implantation

Purpose : To evaluate the clinical effects of implantation of Array multifocal intraocular *** : Thirty-one cases (37 eyes) of cataract patients, including 15 males(19 eyes)and 16 females(18 eyes), were involved in this study. All patients underwent standard phacoemulsification with Array multifocal intraocular lens implantation. The complications during operation, postoperative distant visual acuity, near visual acuity,corneal curvature and visual symptoms were *** : the mean value of best postoperative visual acuity was recorded as follows: uncorrected distant visual acuity was 0. 8, the best-corrected distant visual acuity was 0.9, uncorrected near visual acuity was 0. 5, near visual acuity with distant-corrected was 0.6, the best-corrected near visual acuity wss 0.9. The astigmatism of cornea was less than 1.5 D pre-operatively and post-operatively. One patient complained of glare. Conclusion : Array multifocal intraocular lens can provide good distant and near visual acuity. With observation of more cases and follow-up of longer time, we can draw a further conclusion. For too many state features are used in the diesel engine state evaluation and fault diagnosis, it is not easy to obtain the rational eigenvalues. In the paper, the cylinder subassembly of diesel engine is used to search for the method of establishing state feature system and optimal approach. The signal of diesel engine has been collected when the piston ring and airtight ring are working at different states, then with the bootstrap method and Genetic Algorithm (GA), an optimum parameter combination is received. Example shows this method is simple and efficient for establishing diesel engine state feature system, Thus, this method is valuable for the virtual state evaluation of similar complex system.

INTRODUCTION The treatment of small renal masses has shifted from radical nephrectomy to partial nephrectomy, in particular, laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Renal artery clamping is often necessary to minimize hemorrhage during resection in cases of partial nephrectomy. However, renal artery clamping may lead to greater incidence of renal malfunction after partial nephrectomy. Therefore, novel techniques which could both avoid renal artery occlusion and achieve adequate hemostasis are urgently required. Selective renal segmental artery clamping was one of several common methods that could achieve ＂zero ischemia.＂ At the same time, a number of reports about laser-assisted partial nephrectomy on humans using multiple kinds of outstanding coagulative specialties of lasers were published.
