Data-driven mapping-relationship mining between hardness and mechanical properties of dual-phase titanium alloys via random forest and statistical analysis

In order to accelerate the research on the property optimization of titanium alloy based on high-throughput methods,it is necessary to reveal the relationship between hardness and other mechanical properties which is still unclear.In this work,taking Ti20C alloy as research object,almost all the microstructure of dual-phase titanium alloys were covered by traversing over 100 heat treatment schemes.Then,massive experiments including microstructure characterization and performance test were conducted,obtaining 51,590 pieces of microstructure data and 3591 pieces of mechanical property data.Subsequently,based on large-scale data-driven technology,the quantitative mapping relationship between hardness and other mechanical properties was deeply discussed.The results of random forest models showed that the correlation between hardness(H)and Charpy impact energy(A_(k))(or elongation,A)was hardly dependent on the microstructure types,while the relationship between H and tensile strength(R_(m))(or yield strength,R_(p0.2))was highly dependent on microstructure types.Specifically,combined with statistical analysis,it was found that the relationship between H and Ak(or A)were negatively linear.Interestingly,the relationship between H and strength was positively linear for equiaxed microstructure,and strength was linked to d^(−1/2)(d,equivalent circle diameter)ofα-grains in the form of classical Hall–Petch formula;but for other microstructures,the relationships were quadratic.Furthermore,the above rules were nearly the same in the rolling direction and transverse direction.Finally,a"four-quadrant partition map"between H and R_(p0.2)/R_(m) was established as a versatile material-screening tool,which can provide guidance for on-demand selection of titanium alloys.

Key technologies of earthquake early warning system for China’s high-speed railway

Purpose–The purpose of this study is to introduce the top-level design ideas and the overall architecture of earthquake early-warning system for high speed railways in China,which is based on P-wave earthquake early-warning and multiple ways of rapid treatment.Design/methodology/approach–The paper describes the key technologies that are involved in the development of the system,such as P-wave identification and earthquake early-warning,multi-source seismic information fusion and earthquake emergency treatment technologies.The paper also presents the test results of the system,which show that it has complete functions and its major performance indicators meet the design requirements.Findings–The study demonstrates that the high speed railways earthquake early-warning system serves as an important technical tool for high speed railways to cope with the threat of earthquake to the operation safety.The key technical indicators of the system have excellent performance:The first report time of the P-wave is less than three seconds.From the first arrival of P-wave to the beginning of train braking,the total delay of onboard emergency treatment is 3.63 seconds under 95%probability.The average total delay for power failures triggered by substations is 3.3 seconds.Originality/value–The paper provides a valuable reference for the research and development of earthquake early-warning system for high speed railways in other countries and regions.It also contributes to the earthquake prevention and disaster reduction efforts.

The Preliminary Study on Screening and Application of Phthalic Acid-Degrading Bacteria

Phthalic acid is a main pollutant, which is also an important reason for the continuous cropping effect of tobacco. In order to degrade the phthalic acid accumulated in the environment and relieve the obstacle effect of tobacco continuous cropping caused by the accumulation of phthalic acid in the soil. In this study, phthalate degrading bacteria B3 is screened from continuous cropping tobacco soil. The results of biochemical identification and 16sDNA comparison show that the homology between degrading bacterium B3 and Enterobacter sp. is 99%. At the same time, the growth of Enterobacter hormaechei subsp. B3 and the degradation of phthalic acid under different environmental conditions are studied. The results show that the environment with a temperature of 30˚C, PH of 7, and inoculation amount of not less than 1.2%, which is the optimal growth conditions for Enterobacter sp. B3. In an environment with a concentration of phthalic acid not exceeding 500 mg/L, Enterobacter sp. B3 has a better effect on phthalic acid degradation, and the degradation rate can reach 77% in 7 d. The results of indoor potting experiments on tobacco show that the degradation rate of phthalic acid by Enterobacter B3 in the soil is about 45%, which can reduce the inhibitory effect of phthalic acid on the growth of tobacco seedlings. This study enriches the microbial resources for degrading phthalic acid and provides a theoretical basis for alleviating tobacco continuous cropping obstacles.

Mixed matrix membranes(MMMs)could combine the advantages of both polymeric membranes and porousﬁllers,making them an effective alternative to conventional polymer membranes.However,interfacial incompatibility issues,such as the presence of interfacial voids,hardening of polymer chains,and blockage of micropores by polymers between common MMMsﬁllers and the polymer matrix,currently limit the gas sep-aration performance of MMMs.Ternary phase MMMs(consisting of aﬁller,an additive,and a matrix)made by adding a third compound,usually functionalized additives,can overcome the structural problems of binary phase MMMs and positively impact membrane separation performance.This review introduces the structure and fabrication processes for ternary MMMs,categorizes various nanoﬁllers and the third component,and summarizes and analyzes in detail the CO_(2) separation performance of newly developed ternary MMMs based on both rubbery and glassy polymers.Based on this separation data,the challenges of ternary MMMs are also discussed.Finally,future directions for ternary MMMs are proposed.

Learned Distributed Query Optimizer:Architecture and Challenges

The query processing in distributed database management systems(DBMS)faces more challenges,such as more operators,and more factors in cost models and meta-data,than that in a single-node DMBS,in which query optimization is already an NP-hard problem.Learned query optimizers(mainly in the single-node DBMS)receive attention due to its capability to capture data distributions and flexible ways to avoid hard-craft rules in refinement and adaptation to new hardware.In this paper,we focus on extensions of learned query optimizers to distributed DBMSs.Specifically,we propose one possible but general architecture of the learned query optimizer in the distributed context and highlight differences from the learned optimizer in the single-node ones.In addition,we discuss the challenges and possible solutions.

Autogenous bone grafts have long been considered the“gold standard”and most effective material in bone regeneration procedures.[1]Autogenous bone grafts are used to repair bone defects caused by nonunion,infection,tumor resection,and spinal and joint fusion.[2]It has been reported that more than 200,000 autologous bone grafts are performed in the United States each year.[3]Although there are no specific statistics on the annual number of bone grafts performed in China,autologous bone grafting is the most common surgical technique in orthopedics.The iliac crest remains the most common donor site,along with the fibula,ribs,tibial metaphysis,proximal humerus,distal radius,and greater trochanter.[4,5]Various bone-graft options provide different amounts and qualities of cortical,cancellous,and corticocancellous bone.[6,7]Autogenous bone graft is osteogenic,histocompatible,provides structural support.

Optimal SOC Headroom of Pump Storage Hydropower for Maximizing Joint Revenue from Day-ahead and Real-time Markets Under Regional Transmission Organization Dispatch

In response to the increasing penetration of volatile and uncertain renewable energy,the regional transmission organizations(RTOs)have been recently focusing on enhancing the models of pump storage hydropower(PSH)plants,which are one of the key flexibility assets in the day-ahead(DA)and real-time(RT)markets,to further boost their flexibility provision potentials.Inspired by the recent research works that explored the potential benefits of excluding PSHs’cost-related terms from the objective functions of the DA market clearing model,this paper completes a rolling RT market scheme that is compatible with the DA market.Then,with the vision that PSHs could be permitted to submit state-of-charge(SOC)headrooms in the DA market and to release them in the RT market,this paper uncovers that PSHs could increase the total revenues from the two markets by optimizing their SOC headrooms,assisted by the proposed tri-level optimal SOC headroom model.Specifically,in the proposed tri-level model,the middle and lower levels respectively mimic the DA and RT scheduling processes of PSHs,and the upper level determines the optimal headrooms to be submitted to the RTO for maximizing the total revenue from the two markets.Numerical case studies quantify the profitability of the optimal SOC headroom submissions as well as the associated financial risks.

Successful treatment of Purpureocillium lilacinum pulmonary infection with isavuconazole: A case report

BACKGROUND Purpureocillium lilacinum(P.lilacinum)is a saprophytic fungus widespread in soil and vegetation.As a causative agent,it is very rarely detected in humans,most commonly in the skin.CASE SUMMARY In this article,we reported the case of a 72-year-old patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia who was admitted with cough and fever.Computed tomography revealed an infection in the right lower lobe.Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid culture and metagenomic next-generation sequencing were ultimately confirmed to have a pulmonary infection with P.lilacinum.She was eventually discharged with good outcomes after treatment with isavuconazole.CONCLUSION Pulmonary infection with P.lilacinum was exceedingly rare.While currently there are no definitive therapeutic agents,there are reports of high resistance to amphotericin B and fluconazole and good sensitivity to second-generation triazoles.The present report is the first known use of isavuconazole for pulmonary P.lilacinum infection.It provides new evidence for the characterization and treatment of clinical P.lilacinum lung infections.

User Preference Aware Hierarchical Edge-User Cooperative Caching Strategy

The emergence of various new services has posed a huge challenge to the existing network architecture.To improve the network delay and backhaul pressure,caching popular contents at the edge of network has been considered as a feasible scheme.However,how to efficiently utilize the limited caching resources to cache diverse contents has been confirmed as a tough problem in the past decade.In this paper,considering the time-varying user requests and the heterogeneous content sizes,a user preference aware hierarchical cooperative caching strategy in edge-user caching architecture is proposed.We divide the caching strategy into three phases,that is,the content placement,the content delivery and the content update.In the content placement phase,a cooperative content placement algorithm for local content popularity is designed to cache contents proactively.In the content delivery phase,a cooperative delivery algorithm is proposed to deliver the cached contents.In the content update phase,a content update algorithm is proposed according to the popularity of the contents.Finally,the proposed caching strategy is validated using the MovieLens dataset,and the results reveal that the proposed strategy improves the delay performance by at least 35.3%compared with the other three benchmark strategies.

Differential bonding behaviors of sodium/potassium-ion storage in sawdust waste carbon derivatives

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries(PIBs) are the most promising alternatives to lithium-ion batteries, and thus have drawn intensive research attention. Porous carbon materials from different precursors have been widely used as anode materials owing to their compatible storage effectiveness of both larger radii sodium and potassium ions. However, the differential bonding behaviors of Na and K ions with porous carbon-based anode are the significant one worth investigating, which could provide a clean picture of alkali ions storage mechanism. Therefore, in this work, we prepare a porous carbon network derived from sawdust(SDC) wastes, to further analyze the differences on sodium and potassium ions storage behaviors in terms of bond-forming process. It is found that, as-prepared SDC anodes could deliver stable sodium and potassium storage capacities, however, there are notable distinctions in terms of electrochemical behaviors and diffusion processes. By virtue of ex-situ XRD and Raman spectroscopy, the phase transition reaction of potassium ions could be well-observed, and the results shows that the multiple intercalated compounds was formed in SDC network during ions insertion, further resulting in slower diffusion kinetics and larger resistance compared to non-bonded process of sodium ions storage. This study provides more insights into the differences between sodium and potassium ions storage, as well as the energy storage mechanism of porous carbon as anodes for secondary batteries.
