We con.ucted.this stud. to assess the prevalen.e of ren.l failure (RF) an. the n.ed.for d.alysis in.the paed.atric n.phrology un.t. Patien.s an. m.thod.: This was a retrospective an. d.scriptive stud. in.the ped.atric n.phrology un.t from.1st Jan.ary 2020 to 30 Jun. 2021, in.lud.n. child.en.with acute or chron.c RF. The n.ed.for d.alysis was jud.ed.to be m.t by its effectiven.ss in.face of an.in.ication. The d.ta collected.were an.lysed.on.sphin. plus 2017 software. Results: The prevalen.e of RF was 60% (n.n.= 132/220). RF was acute in.59% (n.n.= 78/132) of cases. The m.an.age was 6.53 ± 4.77 years with a sex ratio of 1.8. The m.an.serum.creatin.n. level was 27.22 m./L (240.9 μm.l/L) an. BUn.at 0.85 g/L. The aetiologies were d.m.n.ted.by preren.l AKI (Acute Kid.0}y In.ury) com.licatin. n.phrotic syn.rom. (n.) in.37.2% (n.n.= 29/78) an. d.hyd.ation.d.e to stom.ch flu in.17.6% (n.n.= 9/51). Acute post-in.ectious glom.rulon.phritis in.lud.n. group A streptococcus an. plasm.d.um.falciparum.accoun.ed.for 16.7% (n.= 13/78) of in.rin.ic AKI. The n.ed.for d.alysis was un.et in.50% (n.n.= 7/14) with a m.rtality of 14.1% (n.n.= 11/78). The m.an.age of the patien.s with chron.c RF was 8.68 ± 4.74 years with a sex ratio of 2.6. The m.an.serum.creatin.n. level was 36.56 m./L (323.5 μm.l/L) an. the BUn.level was 0.99 g/L. Half of the child.en.were classified.as havin. CKd.stage II (early stage). The aetiologies were d.m.n.ted.by prim.ry focal an. segm.n.al glom.rulosclerosis (FSGS), 53.7% (n.n.= 29/54), ren.l hypoplasia, 22.2% (n.n.= 12/54) an. reflux n.phropathy, 29.4% (n.n.= 5/17).
