Soil phosphorus (P) plays a vital role in both ecological and agricultural ecosystems, where total P (TP) in soil serves as a crucial indicator of soil fertility and quality. Most of the studies covered in the literature employ a single or narrow range of soil databases, which largely overlooks the impact of utilizing multiple mapping scales in estimating soil TP, especially in hilly topographies. In this study, Fujian Province, a subtropical hilly region along China’s southeast coast covered by a complex topographic environment, was taken as a case study. The influence of the mapping scale on soil TP storage (TPS)estimation was analyzed using six digital soil databases that were derived from 3 082 unique soil profiles at different mapping scales, i.e., 1:50 000 (S5),1:200 000 (S20), 1:500 000 (S50), 1:1 000 000 (S100), 1:4 000 000 (S400), and 1:10 000 000 (S1000). The regional TPS in the surface soil (0–20 cm) based on the S5, S20, S50, S100, S400, and S1000 soil maps was 20.72, 22.17, 23.06, 23.05, 22.04, and 23.48 Tg, respectively, and the corresponding TPS at0–100 cm soil depth was 80.98, 80.71, 85.00, 84.03, 82.96, and 86.72 Tg, respectively. By comparing soil TPS in the S20 to S1000 maps to that in the S5map, the relative deviations were 6.37%–13.32%for 0–20 cm and 0.33%–7.09%for 0–100 cm. Moreover, since the S20 map had the lowest relative deviation among different mapping scales as compared to S5, it could provide additional soil information and a richer soil environment than other smaller mapping scales. Our results also revealed that many uncertainties in soil TPS estimation originated from the lack of detailed soil information, i.e., representation and spatial variations among different soil types. From the time and labor perspectives, our work provides useful guidelines to identify the appropriate mapping scale for estimating regional soil TPS in areas like Fujian Province in subtropical China or other places with similar complex topographies. Study on Compound Stabilizer Formulation for Mango Juice with Skin

[Objectives]The effects of stabilizers such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose,pectin,sodium alginate and xanthan gum on the stability of mango juice with skin were discussed using mango as the raw material.[Methods]The formula and stability of mango beverage with skin were studied using mango juice with skin as the raw material.Four stabilizers,including pectin,sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose,were added to improve the stability of the juice.Based on single factor experiments and a response surface experiment,the stability model of mango juice was established to determine the best compound stabilizer.[Results]According to an orthogonal experiment on the stability of mango juice with skin,the optimum technical parameters were as follows:sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 0.20%,xanthan gum 0.08%,sodium alginate 0.18%,and pectin 0.14%,with which the optimal suspension stability was 69.12%.The optimum technical parameters from the response surface experiment were as follows:sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 0.199%,pectin 0.1185%,sodium alginate 0.163%,and xanthan gum 0.077%,with which the suspension stability was 70.32%.It was found that the stability of mango juice with skin obtained by the response surface experiment was better than that by the orthogonal experiment,and the order of factors affecting the stability of mango was sodium alginate(C)>sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(A)>pectin(D)>xanthan gum(B).[Conclusions]The formula of compound stabilizer for mango juice was optimized by the orthogonal experiment and the response surface method,providing a theoretical basis for the actual production of mango juice with skin.

Event-triggered distributed optimization for model-free multi-agent systems

In this paper,the distributed optimization problem is investigated for a class of general nonlinear model-free multi-agent systems.The dynamical model of each agent is unknown and only the input/output data are available.A model-free adaptive control method is employed,by which the original unknown nonlinear system is equivalently converted into a dynamic linearized model.An event-triggered consensus scheme is developed to guarantee that the consensus error of the outputs of all agents is convergent.Then,by means of the distributed gradient descent method,a novel event-triggered model-free adaptive distributed optimization algorithm is put forward.Sufficient conditions are established to ensure the consensus and optimality of the addressed system.Finally,simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Complementary-Label Adversarial Domain Adaptation Fault Diagnosis Network under Time-Varying Rotational Speed and Weakly-Supervised Conditions

Recent research in cross-domain intelligence fault diagnosis of machinery still has some problems,such as relatively ideal speed conditions and sample conditions.In engineering practice,the rotational speed of the machine is often transient and time-varying,which makes the sample annotation increasingly expensive.Meanwhile,the number of samples collected from different health states is often unbalanced.To deal with the above challenges,a complementary-label(CL)adversarial domain adaptation fault diagnosis network(CLADAN)is proposed under time-varying rotational speed and weakly-supervised conditions.In the weakly supervised learning condition,machine prior information is used for sample annotation via cost-friendly complementary label learning.A diagnosticmodel learning strategywith discretized category probabilities is designed to avoidmulti-peak distribution of prediction results.In adversarial training process,we developed virtual adversarial regularization(VAR)strategy,which further enhances the robustness of the model by adding adversarial perturbations in the target domain.Comparative experiments on two case studies validated the superior performance of the proposed method.

Simultaneous dual-region two-photon imaging of biological dynamics spanning over 9 mm in vivo

Biodynamical processes,especially in system biology,that occur far apart in space may be highly correlated.To study such biodynamics,simultaneous imaging over a large span at high spatio-temporal resolutions is highly desired.For example,large-scale recording of neural network activities over various brain regions is indispensable in neuroscience.However,limited by the field-of-view(FoV)of conventional microscopes,simultaneous recording of laterally distant regions at high spatio-temporal resolutions is highly challenging.Here,we propose to extend the distance of simultaneous recording regions with a custom micro-mirror unit,taking advantage of the long working distance of the objective and spatio-temporal multiplexing.We demonstrate simultaneous dual-region two-photon imaging,spanning as large as 9 mm,which is 4 times larger than the nominal FoV of the objective.We verify the system performance in in vivo imaging of neural activities and vascular dilations,simultaneously,at two regions in mouse brains as well as in spinal cords,respectively.The adoption of our proposed scheme will promote the study of systematic biology,such as system neuroscience and system immunology.

Influence of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation and Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation on Antarctic surface air temperature during 1900 to 2015

The importance of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO)and Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation(IPO)in influencing zonally asymmetric changes in Antarctic surface air temperature(SAT)has been established.However,previous studies have primarily concentrated on examining the combined impact of the contrasting phases of the AMO and IPO,which have been dominant since the advent of satellite observations in 1979.This study utilizes long-term reanalysis data to investigate the impact of four combinations of+AMO+IPO,–AMO–IPO,+AMO–IPO,and–AMO+IPO on Antarctic SAT over the past 115 years.The+AMO phase is characterized by a spatial mean temperature amplitude of up to 0.5℃over the North Atlantic Ocean,accompanied by positive sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies in the tropical eastern Pacific and negative SST anomalies in the extratropical-mid-latitude western Pacific,which are indicative of the+IPO phase.The Antarctic SAT exhibits contrasting spatial patterns during the+AMO+IPO and+AMO–IPO periods.However,during the–AMO+IPO period,apart from the Antarctic Peninsula and the vicinity of the Weddell Sea,the entire Antarctic region experiences a warming trend.The most pronounced signal in the SAT anomalies is observed during the austral autumn,whereas the combination of–AMO and–IPO exhibits the smallest magnitude across all the combinations.The wavetrain excited by the SST anomalies associated with the AMO and IPO induces upper-level and surface atmospheric circulation anomalies,which alter the SAT anomalies.Furthermore,downward longwave radiation anomalies related to anomalous cloud cover play a crucial role.In the future,if the phases of AMO and IPO were to reverse(AMO transitioning to a negative phase and IPO transitioning to a positive phase),Antarctica could potentially face more pronounced warming and accelerated melting compared to the current observations.

Differences in spring precipitation over southern China associated with multiyear La Ni?a events

Composite analyses were performed in this study to reveal the difference in spring precipitation over southern China during multiyear La Ni?a events during 1901 to 2015. It was found that there is significantly below-normal precipitation during the first boreal spring, but above-normal precipitation during the second year. The difference in spring precipitation over southern China is correlative to the variation in western North Pacific anomalous cyclone(WNPC), which can in turn be attributed to the different sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA) over the Tropical Pacific. The remote forcing of negative SSTA in the equatorial central and eastern Pacific and the local air-sea interaction in the western North Pacific are the usual causes of WNPC formation and maintenance.SSTA in the first spring is stronger than those in the second spring. As a result, the intensity of WNPC in the first year is stronger, which is more likely to reduce the moisture in southern China by changing the moisture transport, leading to prolonged precipitation deficits over southern China. However, the tropical SSTA signals in the second year are too weak to induce the formation and maintenance of WNPC and the below-normal precipitation over southern China. Thus, the variation in tropical SSTA signals between two consecutive springs during multiyear La Ni?a events leads to obvious differences in the spatial pattern of precipitation anomaly in southern China by causing the different WNPC response.

Achieving Intrinsic Dual-Band Excitonic Luminescence from a Single Three-Dimensional Perovskite Nanoparticle Through Ni^(2+)-Mediated Halide Anion Exchange

Rapid halide anion exchange easily occurring in metal-halide perovskite nanoparticles(NPs)makes it nearly impossible to create a single three-dimensional(3D)CsPbX_(3)(X=Cl,Br,I)NP that simultaneously comprises two separate perovskite components.To circumvent this problem,we first propose a Ni^(2+)-mediated halide anion-exchange strategy in zero-dimensional(0D)Ni^(2+)-doped Cs_(4)PbBr_(6)(Cs_(4)PbBr_(6):Ni)perovskites to achieve ultra-stable 3D CsPbX_(3)NPs with two coexisting different perovskite individuals of CsPbCl_(3)and/or CsPbBr_(3).By combining the experimental results with first-principles calculations,we confirm that the completely isolated[PbBr_(6)]4−octahedra in 0D Cs_(4)PbBr_(6):Ni NPs can restrict rapid halide anion exchange and the anion diffusion preferentially proceeds in the proximity of substitutional NiPb centers,namely[NiBr_(6)]4−octahedra in a meta-stable state,rather than in the 0D Cs_(4)PbBr_(6)and residual 3D CsPbBr_(3)regions,thereby delivering intrinsic dual-band excitonic luminescence from a single 3D CsPbX_(3)NP with a more stable and efficient CsPbCl_(3)component as compared to its counterparts synthesized using conventional methods.These new insights regarding the precise control of halide anion exchange enable the preparation of a new type of high-efficiency perovskite materials with suppressed anion interdiffusion for prospective optoelectronic devices.

Influence of O-O formation pathways and charge transfer mediator on lipid bilayer membrane-like photoanodes for water oxidation

Inspired by the function of crucial components in photosystemⅡ(PSⅡ),electrochemical and dyesensitized photoelectrochemical(DSPEC)water oxidation devices were constructed by the selfassembly of well-designed amphipathic Ru(bda)-based catalysts(bda=2,2'-bipyrdine-6,6'-dicarbonoxyl acid)and aliphatic chain decorated electrode surfaces,forming lipid bilayer membrane(LBM)-like structures.The Ru(bda)catalysts on electrode-supported LBM films demonstrated remarkable water oxidation performance with different O-O formation mechanisms.However,compared to the slow charge transfer process,the O-O formation pathways did not determine the PEC water oxidation efficiency of the dyesensitized photoanodes,and the different reaction rates for similar catalysts with different catalytic paths did not determine the PEC performance of the DSPECs.Instead,charge transfer plays a decisive role in the PEC water oxidation rate.When an indolo[3,2-b]carbazole derivative was introduced between the Ru(bda)catalysts and aliphatic chain-modified photosensitizer in LBM films,serving as a charge transfer mediator for the tyrosine-histidine pair in PSⅡ,the PEC water oxidation performance of the corresponding photoanodes was dramatically enhanced.

The photogenerated charge carrier separation and transportation of inside photocathodes can greatly influence the performance of photoelectrochemical(PEC)H2 production devices.Coupling TiO_(2) with p-type semiconductors to construct heterojunction structures is one of the most widely used strategies to facilitate charge separation and transportation.However,the band position of TiO_(2) could not perfectly match with all p-type semiconductors.Here,taking antimony selenide(Sb_(2)Se_(3))as an example,a rational strategy was developed by introducing a viologen electron transfer mediator(ETM)containing polymeric film(poly-1,1′-dially-[4,4′-bipyridine]-1,1′-diium,denoted as PV^(2+))at the interface between Sb_(2)Se_(3) and TiO_(2) to regulate the energy band alignment,which could inhibit the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers of interfaces.With Pt as a catalyst,the constructed Sb_(2)Se_(3)/PV^(2+)/TiO_(2)/Pt photocathode showed a superior PEC hydrogen generation activity with a photocurrent density of−18.6 mA cm^(-2) vs.a reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)and a half-cell solar-to-hydrogen efficiency(HC-STH)of 1.54%at 0.17 V vs.RHE,which was much better than that of the related Sb_(2)Se_(3)/TiO_(2)/Pt photocathode without PV^(2+)(−9.8 mA cm^(-2),0.51%at 0.10 V vs.RHE).
