A novel Re modifiedβ-(Ni,Pt)Al coating was prepared on a Mo-rich Ni_3 Al-based single crystal(SC)superalloy by electro-deposition of Re/Pt dual films and low-activity aluminizing.The isothermal oxidation behavior of the Re modifiedβ-(Ni,Pt)Al coating and traditionalβ-(Ni,Pt)Al coating was comparatively studied at 1100℃.Apparent spallation of oxide scale was found on the surface of traditionalβ-(Ni,Pt)Al coating after 300 h isothermal exposure,which mainly resulted from the evaporation of Mo-containing oxides.It is further found that the outward diffusion of Mo from the SC substrate was effectively inhibited in the Re modifiedβ-(Ni,Pt)Al coating by forming theσ-MoRe phase both at the coating/superalloy interface and grain boundaries.It is also revealed that the addition of Re can stabilise Mo to form theσ-MoRe phase,allowing the improved oxidation resistance of the Re modifiedβ-(Ni,Pt)Al coating.

From the perspective of electronic structure modulation,it is highly desirable to rationally design the active urea oxidation reaction(UOR)catalysts through interface engineering.The binary cooperative heterostructure systems have been shown significant enhancement for catalyzing UOR,but their performance still remains unsatisfactory for industrialization because of the unfavorable intermediate adsorption/desorption and deficient electron transfer channels.In response,taking the ternary cooperative Ni_5P_(4)/NiSe_(2)/Ni_(3)Se_(4) heterostructure as the proof-of-concept paradigm,a catalytic model is rationally put forward to elucidate the UOR promotion mechanism at the molecular level.The rod-like Ni_5P_(4)/NiSe_(2)/Ni_(3)Se_(4) nanoarrays with three-phase heterojunction are experimentally fabricated on Ni foam(named as Ni_5P_(4)/NiSe_(2)/Ni_(3)Se_(4)/NF)via simple two-step processes.The density functional theory calculations disclose that construction of Ni_5P_(4)/NiSe_(2)/Ni_(3)Se_(4) heterostructure model not only induce charge redistribution at the interfacial region for creating innumerable electron transfer channels,but also endow it with a moderate d-band center that could help to build a balance between adsorption and desorption of diverse UOR intermediates.Benefiting from the unique rod-like nanoarrays with large specific surface area and the optimized electronic structure,the well-designed Ni_5P_(4)/NiSe_(2)/Ni_(3)Se_(4)/NF could act as a robust catalyst for driving UOR at industrial-level current densities under tough environments,offering great potential for commercial applications.

Inhibition mechanisms of ammonia and sulfate in high-solids anaerobic digesters for food waste treatment: Microbial community and element distributions responses

The horizontal flow anaerobic digester indicated that high ammonia (2923 mg/L) and SO42-(3653 mg/L)would influence the performance of methane production with food waste as substrates.Therefore,bottle anaerobic digestion reactors were carried out to investigate the effect of ammonia/sulfate concentrations on the methane production.Experimental results manifested that the anaerobic digesters with an ammonia concentration of 3500 mg/L or sulfate of 1600 mg/L showed the best performance of methane production,with an average methane yield of 0.32 and 0.33 L (g VS)^(-1)d^(-1),respectively.Specifically,a higher ammonia (6500 mg/L) or sulfate (1600-3500 mg/L) level hindered the bioconversion of C from liquid to gas phase (2.68%or 1.73%CH_(4)-Gas,respectively),while insignificantly for the hydrolyzation of C and N from solid to liquid phase.Similar to sulfate,high ammonia nitrogen seriously inhibited the methanation process,leading to a significant carbon accumulation in the anaerobic reactor,especially for propionic acid.The predominant archaea Methanosarcina at genus level indicated that aceticlastic methanogenesis was the major methanogenic pathway.Meanwhile,high ammonia level suppressed the activity of Methanosarcina,while modest sulfate improved H_(2)-consuming methanogens activity.A large fraction of unclassified bacteria within the Firmicutes (43.78%-63.17%) and Bacteroidetes (24.20%-33.30%) phylum played an important role in substrates hydrolysis.

Anthranilic diamides have been proven to be a class of efficacious and safe insecticides targeting ryanodine receptors (RyRs) during the last decade. In order to develop innovative scaffolds with high insecticidal activity, two series of N-pyridylpyrazole derivatives containing N-(tert-butyl)benzohydrazide substructures were designed and synthesized. Their insecticidal activities against oriental armyworm (Mythimna separata) and diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) were evaluated. Preliminary bioassay results revealed that some of the new compounds exhibited good insecticidal activity against the oriental armyworm and diamondback moth. The mode of action of these compounds were verified using calcium-imaging technique and the results showed that some new compounds could effectively modulate the insect cytosolic Ca^2+ level, and break the cellular calcium homeostasis, indicating some of these compounds were potent activators of the RyRs.

With the continuous expansion of power grid capacity,the problem of short-circuit current exceeding the standard is becoming increasingly serious.Fault current limiter is a promising solution and is gradually becoming a research hotspot.In this study,fault current limiters are classified into four categories.And saturated-core fault current limiters are emphatically introduced,including its working principle and comparison with the other three categories.Saturated core fault current limiters are divided into four branches according to the ways leading the core saturated.A comprehensive review of the research activities and emerging technologies of saturated-core fault current limiters for AC power systems is presented in this study.The working principle and typical structure of DC-biased-,permanent-magnet-,superconducting-and hybrid-type saturated-core fault current limiters are introduced.The advantages and disadvantages of four types of saturated core fault current limiters are compared in detail from the aspects of current-limiting performance,iron core size and DC magnetomotive force.Real grid application examples of some types of devices are presented,as well as new progress in the techniques,are covered and discussed in detail.One may find the content of this study helpful as a detailed literature review or as practical technical guidance.

Fly ash was used as a low-cost adsorbent for removing dissolved organic matter （DOM） in secondary effluent. Batch experiments were conducted under various adsorbent dosages, pH, contact time, temperatures and DOM fractional characteristics. Under the optimum conditions of fly ash dosage of 15 g/L, temperature of 303 K and contact time of 180 min, a removal of 22.5% of the dissolved organic carbon （DOC）, 23.7% of UV-254, 25.9% of the trihalomethanes precursors in secondary effluent was obtained. The adsorption of DOM fractions onto fly ash all followed the pseudo second-order kinetic model, and the hydrophilic fraction adsorption by fly ash also fitted the intraparticle diffusion model quite well. Freundlich and Langmuir models were applicable to the fly ash adsorption and their constants were evaluated. The maximum adsorption capacities of the adsorptions revealed that fly ash was more effective in adsorbing hydrophilic fraction than the acidic fractions. Structure changes of the DOM fractions after fly ash adsorption were also characterized via spectrum analyzing. Those mechanisms presented critical step toward improved efficiencies of fly ash adsorption via further surface-modification.

Solidification Efficiency and Mechanism of Conventional Curing Agents for Sewage Sludge Stabilization and Dewatering

One of the challenges faced by sewage sludge treatment and disposal is its higher water content,and how to efficient dewater those hazardous materials properly is welcome in practice. This study stabilized the sewage sludge via the using of conventional curing agents and calcined aluminum salts,and the corresponding dewatering mechanisms and structural changes of the stabilized sludge were further comparable analyzed.Experimental results showed that wollastonite and kaolin exhibit a relative higher dewatering efficiency as compared to other conventional curing agents; however the releasing rate of heavy metals of Cu,Cr,Ni for kaolin solidification and Zn,Pb for wollastonite solidification is higher than the sludge samples solidified by other curing agents. For comparison,the sludge samples solidified by calcined aluminum salts (AS),calcium ash,Mg-based curing agent,tricalcium aluminate( C_3A) show a lower heavy metals leaching potential and unconfined compressive strength. In addition,the economic characteristics and local availability of AS,calcium ash,C_3A and CaO makes it have a broad prospect in extension and application. These findings are of great significance for stabilization and dewatering of sewage sludge.

To further explore the structure-activity relationship（SAR） of amide bridge moeity of anthranilic diamides derivatives, a series of N-pyridylpyrazole derivatives was designed, synthesized and their biological activities were evaluated. The chemical structures of novel target compounds were confirmed by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance （N-MR）, 13C NMR and elemental analyses（EA）. Bioassay results of insecticidal activity demonstrated that the target compound 6h displayed 70% lethality rate against oriental armyworms at 200 mg/L. Moreover, most compounds displayed moderate to excellent antifungicidal activities against Fusarium oxysporumf sp. cucumerinum, Cercospora arachidicola Hori, Botryosphaeria dothidea, Alternaria solani, Gibberella zeae and Phytophthora capsici at 50 mg/L In particular, compound 6e showed 61.5% and 92.3% inhibition rate against Cercospora arachidicola Hori and Botryosphaeria dothidea, which was superior to the commercial positive control Chlorothalonil. These results will provide a potential clue for exploring novel high-effective agrochemicals.

Organic matter extracted from activated sludge with ammonium hydroxide and its characterization

In order to characterize the organic properties of waste activated sludge in a wastewater treatment plant,organic matter within sludge was extracted with NH 3 ·H 2 O preferentially,and subsequently fractionated into five fractions using XAD-8/XAD-4 resins.Up to a 63.8%-71.1% of organic matter within the sludge could be efficiently extracted by NH 3 ·H 2 O.Fractionation results showed that hydrophobic acid and hydrophilic fraction were two main components among the sludge organic matter （accounting for 32.2% and 48.0% of the bulk organic matter,respectively）,whereas transphilic acid,hydrophobic neutral and transphilic neutral were quite low （accounting for 9.2%,5.8% and 4.8%,respectively）.Despite that the extractant of NH 3 ·H 2 O showed a relatively higher extraction efficiency of the aromatic components,the relatively low aromaticity of the organic fractions implied that those non-aromatic components could also be effectively extracted,especially for neutral and hydrophilic fractions.In addition,acidic fractions contained more aromatic humic-like components,whereas the neutral fractions had a greater content of aromatic proteins and soluble microbial byproduct-like components.Extraction of sludge organics with NH3·H2O and subsequential fractionation using XAD resins could be a novel method for further characterization of sludge organics.

The large current generated by a direct start of the super-large-capacity high-voltage induction motor would have a huge impact on the power grid as well as the motor itself.Traditional soft starters have the shortcomings of discontinuous adjustment,voltage sags,sudden torque mutation,secondary current impact and high cost.To resolve this issue,the authors propose a novel coupled autotransformer and magnetic-control(CATMC)soft-start method.The structure of the new CATMC soft starter combines the functions of the autotransformer and magnetic control reactor via an innovative electric and magnetic circuit design.In this study,the authors analyse the magnetic circuit structure and working principles of the CATMC soft starter.Then,to validate its principle and performance,the authors conduct a simulation study using ANSYS software and design and test an 18 MW/10 kV CATMC soft starter prototype.The simulation results demonstrate that the CATMC soft starter effectively avoids secondary current impact and constrains the motor starting current to<2.5 times the rated current.The public connection point bus voltage also meets the voltage sag requirement of the IEEE standard and reduces the impact on the power grid.
