Background:The present study was undertaken to investigate the clinical characteristics of hemolytic uremic syndrome(HUS)secondary to cobalamin C disorder(cbl-C disorder).Methods:We reviewed retrospectively the medical records of 3 children with HUS secondary to cbl-C disorder who had been treated between April 1,2009 and October 31,***:The 3 patients with HUS secondary to cbl-C disorder presented with progressive hemolytic anemia,acute renal failure,thrombocytopenia,poor feeding,and failure to *** of the 3 patients once had high blood *** mutations of c.609G>A(P.W203X),c.217C>T(p.R73X)and c.365A>T(p.H122L)in the methylmalonic aciduria(cobalamin deficiency)cbl-C type,with homocystinuria gene were detected in the 3 *** these patients the levels of lactate dehydrogenase and homocysteine in serum were elevated and the level of methylmalonic acid(MMA)in urine was also *** treatment with hydroxocobalamin,2 patients were discharged with no obvious abnormal growth and neurological development and 1 patient died of multiple organ ***:The results of this study demonstrated that cbl-C disorder should be investigated in any child presenting with *** high concentrations of homocysteine and MMA could be used for timely recognization of the *** the high levels of plasma homocystein and/or plasma or urine MMA are detected,the treatment with parenteral hydroxocobalamin should be prescribed *** early diagnosis and treatment would contribute to the good prognosis of the disease.

Primary hepatocellular carcinoma(PHC) includes hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and other pathological types and is characterized by rapid progression. Most of the clinical diagnoses are made at late stage or when distant metastasis occurs, increasing the difficulty of treatment and resulting in a poor prognosis. Therefore, the early diagnosis of PHC plays an important role in timely treatment and the improvement of prognosis. The gold standard for the diagnosis of primary liver cancer is liver biopsy, but it has limitations as an invasive examination. Presently, imaging has become the first choice for the diagnosis of liver cancer. We here summarize the new methods and techniques of imaging in diagnosis and evaluation of primary liver cancer in recent years, including ultrasonography, computed tomography perfusion imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging technology-voxel incoherent motion, diffusion tensor imaging, iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and least squares estimation-iron quantification, dynamic enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and hepatocyte-specific contrast medium imaging. Imaging diagnosis can not only evaluate the degree of differentiation, blood supply and perfusion, and invasiveness of the lesion, but also predict the prognosis, evaluate liver function, andprovide references for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Dual specificity tyrosine phosphorylation regulated kinase 1 A(DYRK1 A) is an evolutionarily conserved protein kinase belonging to the CMGC kinase family, which is closely related to Down syndrome(DS)and Alzheimer’s disease(AD). In recent years, not only the treatment of diabetes, but also the treatment of cancer gradually focuses on targeting DYRK1 A. Therefore, a series of DYRK1 A inhibitors have been developed to treat relevant diseases and clarify their treatment mechanism furtherly. DYRK1 A inhibitors are mainly divided into natural products and synthetic compounds. Among them, harmine is an excellent DYRK1 A inhibitor. Therefore, the synthetic DYRK1 A inhibitors are mainly based on harmine, which greatly enriches the structure and quantity of DYRK1 A inhibitors. The interaction between the inhibitors and the DYRK1 A protein has a guiding significance in predicting the activity of the inhibitors, and plays an irreplaceable role in the design of the compounds. This paper mainly reviews DYRK1 A inhibitors found in recent years and their structure-activity relationship, looking forward to providing a theoretical basis for the development of DYRK1 A inhibitors.

AIM: To explore the synergistic effect of docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)/5-fluorouracil(5-FU) on the human gastric cancer cell line AGS and examine the underlying ***: AGS cells were cultured and treated with a series of concentrations of DHA and 5-FU alone or in combination for 24 and 48 h. To investigate the synergistic effect of DHA and 5-FU on AGS cells, the inhibition of cell proliferation was determined by MTT assay and cell morphology. Flow cytometric analysis was also used to assess cell cycle distribution, and the expression of mitochondrial electron transfer chain complexes(METCs)?Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅴ in AGS cells was further determined by Western blot analysis. RESULTS: DHA and 5-FU alone or in combination could markedly suppress the proliferation of AGS cells in a significant time and dose-dependent manner. DHA markedly strengthened the antiproliferative effect of 5-FU, decreasing the IC50 by 3.56-2.15-fold in an apparent synergy. The morphological changes of the cells were characterized by shrinkage, cell membrane blebbing and decreased adherence. Cell cycle analysis showed a shift of cells into the G0/G1 phase from the S phase following treatment with DHA or 5-FU(G0/G1 phase: 30.04% ± 1.54% vs 49.05% ± 6.41% and 63.39% ± 6.83%, respectively, P < 0.05; S phase: 56.76% ± 3.14% vs 34.75% ± 2.35% and 25.63% ± 2.21%, respectively, P < 0.05). Combination treatment of DHA and 5-FU resulted in a significantly larger shift toward the G0/G1 phase and subsequent reduction in S phase(G0/G1 phase: 69.06% ± 2.63% vs 49.05% ± 6.41% and 63.39% ± 6.83%, respectively, P < 0.05; S phase: 19.80% ± 4.30% vs 34.75% ± 2.35% and 25.63% ± 2.21%, respectively, P < 0.05). This synergy was also reflected in the significant downregulation of the expression of METCs in AGS ***: Synergistic anticancer properties of DHA and 5-FU may involve interference with energy production of AGS cells via downregulation of METCs and cell cycle arrest.

Nonlinear dynamical systems with an irrational restoring force often occur in both science and engineering, and always lead to a barrier for conventional nonlinear techniques. In this paper, we have investigated the global bifurcations and the chaos directly for a nonlinear system with irrational nonlinearity avoiding the conventional Taylor＇s expansion to retain the natural characteristics of the system. A series of transformations are proposed to convert the homoclinic orbits of the unperturbed system to the heteroclinic orbits in the new coordinate, which can be transformed back to the analytical expressions of the homoclinic orbits. Melnikov＇s method is employed to obtain the criteria for chaotic motion, which implies that the existence of homoclinic orbits to chaos arose from the breaking of homoclinic orbits under the perturbation of damping and external forcing. The efficiency of the criteria for chaotic motion obtained in this paper is verified via bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, and numerical simulations. It is worthwhile noting that our study is an attempt to make a step toward the solution of the problem proposed by Cao Q J et al. （Cao Q J, Wiercigroch M, Pavlovskaia E E, Thompson J M T and Grebogi C 2008 Phil. Trans. R. Soe. A 366 635）.

Application of imidacloprid controlled-release granules to enhance the utilization rate and control wheat aphid on winter wheat

During winter wheat production, aphids need to be controlled with pesticides for the entire growth period. Controlled-release technology has been regarded as an alternative method for the improvement of pesticide efficiency. This study investigated two types of imidacloprid controlled-release granule (CR-GR): 2% imidacloprid CR-GR and 0.2% imidacloprid pesticide-fertilizer controlled-release granule (PF-CR-GR) when wheat was sown in winter. The release performance, utilization rate, terminal residues in edible parts, control effect on aphids, and achieved winter wheat yield were evaluated for both laboratory experiments and field application. Imidacloprid PF-CR-GR released more quickly in aqueous medium than CR-GR because of its good water solubility. After CR-GR treatments, the concentrations in wheat roots and soil were similar throughout the entire sampling period, and the concentrations in shoots were about 10–20% of those in roots. Imidacloprid was better absorbed when CR-GR was used as root treatment, compared with foliar treatment. Field application showed that imidacloprid CR-GR and PF-CR-GR controlled aphids throughout the entire growth period of winter wheat and improved the wheat yield. These findings identified application of imidacloprid CR-GR and PF-CR-GR on winter wheat as an effective way to enhance the pesticide utilization rate and ensure adequate yield. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the scientific use of pesticides and guides scientific pesticide application.

Primary signet ring cell carcinoma(SRCC)of the prostate is a rare ***,its potential tumorigenic mechanism,clinicopathological features,and prognostic outcome have not been systematically *** determine the pathogenic mechanism,we detected distributions of programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1),programmed death 1(PD-1),and cellular components in the tumor microenvironment,including tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(CD4 and CD8),tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs;CD163 and CD68),and tumor-associated fibroblasts(vimentin and alpha-smooth muscle actin[α-SMA]),in tumor tissues from four patients with primary prostatic SRCC compared with corresponding adjacent tissues and tumor tissues from 30 patients with prostate adenocarcinoma(PCa)by immunohistochemical *** found higher expression of PD-L1,CD163,and CD68 in primary SRCC specimens than that in both corresponding adjacent nontumor specimens and PCa specimens with different Gleason scores,indicating that TAMs may participate in the malignant biological behavior of primary SRCC of the *** further analysis,we searched electronic journal databases and Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)to identify 200 eligible patients including our four *** to Kaplan–Meier survival curve analysis,patients<68 years old,with radical prostatectomy(RP),Gleason score of 7–8,and lower clinical stage had longer overall survival(OS).Moreover,Cox multivariate analysis indicated that race(hazard ratio[HR]=1.422),surgical approach(HR=1.654),and Gleason score(HR=2.162)were independent prognostic factors for ***,primary SRCC of the prostate represents a distinct and aggressive subtype of prostate cancer associated with a higher distribution of PD-L1 and TAMs,which warrants further clinical investigation.

Pancreatic fibrosis(PF)is primarily distinguished by the stimulation of pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs)and excessive extracellular matrix deposition,which is the main barrier impeding drug delivery and ***,nanomedicine,with efficient,targeted,and controllable drug release characteristics,has demonstrated enormous advantages in the regression of pancreas fibrotic ***,paracrine signals from parenchymal and immune cells such as pancreatic acinar cells,islet cells,pancreatic cancer cells,and immune cells can directly or indirectly modulate PSC differentiation and *** intercellular crosstalk between PSCs and these cells has been a critical event involved in ***,the connections between PSCs and other pancreatic cells during the progression of diseases have yet to be ***,we summarize intercellular crosstalk in the activation of PSCs and its contribution to the development of common pancreatic diseases,including pancreatitis,pancreatic cancer,and ***,we also examine the latest treatment strategies of nanomedicine and potential targets for PSCs crosstalk in fibrosis,thereby offering innovative insights for the design of antifibrotic ***,the enhanced understanding of PF will facilitate the development of more precise intervention strategies and foster individually tailored therapeutic approaches for pancreatic diseases.
